Wifi Switcher

Wifi Switcher Free App

About Wifi Switcher

Wifi Switcher will switch to the Wi-Fi network with the strongest signal from your remembered networks.
It runs constantly in the background. When the Android system scans the Wi-Fi networks, Wifi Switcher will check to see if any of your preferred networks has a better signal strength than the one you're currently connected to. If it finds one significantly better then it will switch to it.

Scenario:

At home I have a Wi-Fi access point downstairs and another one upstairs. If I go upstairs I stay connected to the one downstairs but the signal is much weaker. This app will automatically switch you to the stronger Wi-Fi connection.

When my tablet woke up from sleep with this app installed, it couldn't connect to any of my wifi networks anymore. Not automatically, not by manual action. Only after uninstalling it could I connect again.

C70%
by C####:

Switches network too infrequently - differential threshold too large. Also should autostart at boot.

C70%

Simple, it just switches to the strongest network

Samsung Captivate Cyanogen Mod 7 (Android 4.4.2) Just sat and did nothing. Will give 5 stars if a fix is found.

Have tried a few wifi switchers but this seems to be the simplest and the best, especially after recent updates. I have an old house with thick walls and have 4 wifi Powerline points. This app switches seamlessly between each Powerline point within about 10 seconds of picking up the strongest signal and shows a brief confirmation on screen. That's it, job done, no fuss. Works on my HTC ONE- Galaxy Note 10.1- Galaxy S3 - and Galaxy Note 3. Many thanks to the developer

Switches network too frequently when signals have similar strength - needs a differential threshold. Also should autostart at boot.

In theory it works well, but I wonder if it doesn't play nice with only KitKat or something. It doesn't work automatically on my phone, which runs KitKat.
