What are users saying about Mensa Word of the Day Widget

Words are not MENSA quality. Was working fine until last month 3/17. It did not auto update or manually update. That works now but now it produces a fetch error when you click on a word from the history and the pronounce function stopped working.

I would give this app 5 stars, if I could share the word of the day and it's detail page, to G+, and Facebook. I really like that this app has no interest in my privacy, and only requests the access it needs to function.

The words for the last 4 days in a row were niggler, cockshy, tar baby, and niggard... Grow up and give me some words I'm actually going to use.

C70%
by C####:

Now the hyperlinks don't work, there are images that won't load and sometimes a description is nothing but html code.

Incorrect politically motivated definition found on Friday 7/17... now wondering what else has been wrong....

C70%

Nice concept but it never refreshed. Uninstalling. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Words are not unique or unusual. Today the "mensa" word was peeps. Come on!

Great stuff!(10/2012)***UPDATE 3/3/2015*** I have had this app since Oct 22nd 2012. I have NEVER had any issues. I have never had it crash, "unfortunately stop working," "force close," or fail to refresh. It is a widget on my home screen. I prefer the single word days, but the 2-4s are ok as well. I have copyrighted poetry and am writing a book series. I use several languages and obiviously a plethera of words. This app is very handy.

I like it, more challenging words so far than other apps, and i really the etymology of the words. The only thing i would change or add would be the option to make the background translucent.

Whats with all the Germany words?!

Y70%
by Y####:

Same as everyone else. Worked for three days, stopped refreshing. Junk.

Y70%

Horrible wont update day to day.

O70%

Didn't update.

K70%

Seriously, these words are a joke.

Y70%

The app doesn't update. If it did, it would be great.

Y70%
by Y####:

Poor quality words and now no update for days. Goodbye!

Y70%
by Y####:

Almost everyday it will only show me how to pronounce the word. The word itself along with the definition only show a question mark. No update available.

Y70%
by Y####:

The words are dumb, stupid, and dumb. Horrible and impracticle. All from names of literary figures pertaining to being optimistic or pessimistic

Love it!

I love this app, but the html script has been broken for many months, I hope the developer finds time to update! Edit: fixed! Perfect! Thanks!

S70%

3/5 due to really bland words of late. Such gems like alley oop and toot sweet? Only saving grace is etymology of these... Words.

F70%
by F####:

Thats all youll get with this app. Doesnt deserve to be an app actually

O70%

Sometimes it crashes, yes, but I love this app!

Got two words out of the app. Then won't refresh anymore, there's no manual refresh either. Their forums are full of this problem and yet nothing is done.

D70%
by D####:

This app used to bring up words worthy of its title, lately it almost seems like it's pulling from the urban dictionary. Bring back the advanced vocabulary! For the dummies complaining about refreshes, the app updates once per day ( hence the name ) and only on weekdays. If you install on Friday, you won't see a new word until Monday.

T70%
by T####:

Like this app, like the widget. was having some trouble with words not displaying but seems to be working now. Would be nice if it updated on weekends tho!

Y70%
by Y####:

I thought other reviewers may have been exaggerating or something but they weren't. You install, you get one word, THAT'S IT! If you install this app you're installing for one word, literally!!! Beyond pointless! UNINSTALL!

T70%
by T####:

Good word of day app but some words are not MENSA quality, can't view past words prior to date of installation or for days you don't open the app.

T70%
by T####:

I was looking for new and interesting words, not words I use every day. And it's not like I'm a genius; I wouldn't qualify for Mensa. But "melancholy"? "Fiddlesticks"? Come on. That's hardly inspiring. If you really want to learn new words, you're better off with a word-of-the-day calendar.

T70%
by T####:

So far every word has just been a nice way to insult someone. Not much vaeiety here.
