Clear Sky Droid (free)

This app lacks 2 things. The first is an algorithm that brings all the 8 different scales into a simple single readable scale, like down to what magnitude stars might be visible in the next 48 hours. The second thing is it needs to take into account the background light pollution for you area. THAT would be a useful app. This is a swing and a miss to me.

I've used this app a long time on my Nexus 4 without any issue and it's very useful and worked well. However I had to upgrade phone to LG G4 and after installing app it only displays 5 Newfoundland locations list.. I cannot search nor use location map, I can't save any favourites period. It also freezes up and locks use of phone when I try using and when trying to close it. The current version seems has bugs or compatibility issues. I see I'm not the only one experiencing this problem based on others' comments Please fix.

Fails to use gps to find location and nearby locations. Fails to use keyboard for search feature. Dead app?

This app a works fine if you wireless networks enabled. But when you disable it and restart the app then it showes newfoundland. And it also prevents you from seeing details or the map of your favorites. Please let it work without GPS and location services on. UPDATE: for some reason is now working this location services off.

Doesn't work. And if it does. It's just for a set of fixed locations. Quite useless.

There is only one thing that really annoys me. There is no menu option to exit the app, or two back key exit function. Rest is awesome.

Can't find your location. I live in middle east and the nearest location the app was able to find was Canada? Also, the search doesn't work at all. Don't bother with it.

Unfortunately updating to the 7.0 version of Android killed this app. It needs an update. Before the update it's 4 stars. 5 if they improve the location.

App instantly freezes. The back button doesn't even work. Had to reboot my phone.

Displays wrong closest locations.

The developer needs to realise that there are other countries in the world other than America.

LG G4 running 5.1. Won't load maps.

The location finder is a little buggy. The keyboard doesn't seem to come up. Here's the workaround, if you type your city somewhere else and then copy it from there. Come back to the app, long press in the search box and then paste your city and then search it will usually find your city. Mine was a small city, found it in a sec. Thank you for the great app.

As other reviewers have said, the app is a little broken with regards to finding your location. I've managed to get around it by starting any navigation in google maps to force the phone to hold the GPS location, then running the app. I always want the same charts, so I keep them in favorites so I don't need the GPS on except during initial setup.

Great for checking the weather when planning to view the night sky, as it always has accurate info, but the design is quite repulsive.

Have been using for a few years now on phone and tablet and performs well. Mostly how I use clearsky these days. I remember using the full web site on a blackberry ages ago! This is much better....

Does exactly what it's supposed to do.

In general I'm happy with this, though it does poorly if you don't have good GPS signal or are outside of North America.

This app worked perfectly for me. It didn't have any trouble detecting my location. The complainers are probably people who have disabled Google location services, then can't figure out why their phone doesn't know where they are.

Really sluggish could barely search for my location even with GPS set to high accuracy it brought up Newfoundland

Gives night sky seeing conditions. Same as web site only location services finds present location.

Exactly what I was looking for. My only suggestion would be the ability to make widgets.

I have used this application in various forms for many years now. It is an essential tool for anyone planning astronomy events. Works flawlessly and is Very accurate for my locations.

Found my location perfectly. And for those complaining that it doesn't work in Europe, try reading descriptions before installing apps!

Updated trying it again. Working for now. Update: worked for a week now can't find any Listings closer that 45 miles) uninstall. It found my location and a preset site 10 miles away. Just worked. Does what it is supposed to do, no more, no less. I like that. Not loaded down with 50 useless features.

Great if you're in Canada or the US. Not if you're in Australia. Nice interface though.

Great app From the time it downloaded to the time it had loaded in all my local stations was about a minute and a half Easy to search. It's exactly what I wanted
