Extremely interesting tool since Logcat does pop up in searching the OS for a built-in bug, 4.4.2 v19 with missing attributes. This may work if my glaucoma holds out!

I saw the comment that said this will stop working on jb, since most people using it are probably rooted anyway, you can use titanium backup to convert to system app and it works great again.

This app used to do something but since Jelly Bean, it can only view its own log messages, which is kind of pointless. Unless the phone is rooted, perhaps, the only way to get the logs now is to install the Android SDK, connect the phone via USB, and use adb logcat.

Worked great debugging my app on first Samsung Galaxy 2.1 now running app on Asus Nexus 7 with JB. Just stops. What exactly do I have to do with Titanium To get acatlog to work?

You NEED to add ****ROOT REQUIRED**** to your product. You are Misleading customers by not doing this. ALL logcat apps after android 4.1 MUST have ROOT access in order to get full logcat data!!!!!! Even is you were to add permission via ADB, you would ONLY get System Log Info, No Logcat info for apps, which you would require for testing and bug reporting!!!! ******YOU SHOULD NOT BE TAKING PEOPLES MONEY (ON THE PAID VERSION) WITHOUT WARNING CUSTOMERS THAT YOUR PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT ROOT ACCESS**********

Google now blocks apps from having access to system logs so this app is pretty useless. Bummer.

Google changed the READ_LOGS permission in Android 4.1 so that only system apps can get it.

Would be better if default setting was to show time and date of each thing instead off it being an option. Minor point makes it easier.

This app used to work. Don't know what happened. JB 4.2

for monitoring what an app is doing, even if you are not a Developer. Helps expose what some Apps are really doing/causing.

A simple app doing something perfectly: exposing logcat in a sensible fashion. If you are familiar with regular expression, this tool is extremely useful.

This app is dum it sais random stuff like up down or toast and does nothing to help with my broke game I get no log info about it

It works after enabling the READ_LOGS permission for it, using adb: `pm grant org.jtb.alogcat android.permission.READ_LOGS` and restarting the app. This is needed on the newer Android versions. Please update the description to get one more start. Also, better filtering would be nice. Another star will be granted if I could filter messages only from some app/facility

But whatever information is it giving? Nothing that I can see of any importance. When an app crashes and I elect to send google insecurity creators a note about it, then I'm able to preview the important log file (otherwise is a stupid waste of time to send info... Cause they do nothing with it. I had Bluetooth hacking ALL my files, written on log as "headset connected", they did nothing and their stupid "don't tell" policy, what's up with that.? Speak up insecurities. Speak up. You can easily be replaced.

This can be an awesome tool, but only when it works. Most of the time, it simply does nothing, or at least nothing in the 10 minute patience limit I have. The few times it's worked though, I loved it, so it remains on my list.

It's true. If you convert it to a system app, works fine. EDIT: but not on Kitkat!

How do I use this?? I installed it cos my Galaxy S2 keeps turning itself off and I know its probably down to a software conflict but when I run this app I don't understand the info its giving me...

Wish it didn't clear when I lock my phone. Love the control over what is displayed and how. More formats would be nice.

Program starts but the screen remains blank while my app DOES write log info

I saw a blank screen for five minutes trying to figure out what was draining my battery. If you update your app i may try again. Sorry.

Worked a few times. Then it says 'reading logs' and shows blank. Uninstalling it.

Are there and issues in jellybean? This always worked for me in the past, but doesn't seem to display any messages.. logcat works in terminal..

Removed a star for not giving any warning about it needing to be a system app in Jelly Bean.

Any other way to work around this? Otherwise continues to be a fantastic debugging tool!

Needs an update to ask for root access.
