aLogcat (donate) - logcat for Android
Not working on SGS2
I just donated it is well worth the .99¢ - great app. SGSIIE4GT.
If you have the ability to connect to a computer with adb, you don't need to be rooted (I'm not). You can just run "adb shell" from your computer when the phone is connected, and from there, do "pm grant org.jtb.alogcat.donate android.permission.READ_LOGS". Worked like a charm for me, persistent over reboots. This program is SO useful.
I liked this app, and paid for it, as it was the best I could find 3 years ago. It hasn't really changed in that time (see the screenshots) apart from removing the ability to record, and there are much better free newcomers that I use now.
Thank you very much.
Very useful but I think Google broke it in JB.
i miss option to store filters so i could easily switch between them
This is an amazing app. Does exactly what it says. Don't have to go searching around for stuff I copy it's right there in the app. Love it. Get this one. Samsung Galaxy s4.
Love it, exactly what I was looking for.
Great app
Very useful for saving the log on a crash that happens when you're nowhere near a PC to run adb. Useful updates regularly. You can't buy a 20oz soda for $1, this is way more valuable. Try the free one then give this guy some love.
So you make a identical app and remove features of this paid app, well done. Double dip much?
Very useful to check logs on the go. I use it to keep error logs around when I don't have adb handy, to submit proper bug reports (or fix my own apps). Well worth a donation.
Saved me a lot of time! Man, take at least 2$!!
definitely saved my day.
Donation is a no brainer.
works like a charm, simple and easy to use. regex support is neat.
love this app.
Great app, happy to donate
Well-designed, stable log viewer. Have been using free for awhile, DEV deserves donation.
One of the core apps for Android, it's about time I donated!!!!
Donating a second time, this app is great
Seriously helpful. Nuff said.

From Android Terminal Emulator, enter "su" to request SuperUser rights, then type: pm grant org.jtb.alogcat.donate android.permission.READ_LOGS An alternative work-around is to convert aLogcat to a system app using TitaniumBackup. I had success with both methods. I use this app for troubleshooting. It's a great tool.
For those with Jelly Bean and are lucky enough to be rooted, you can use this command to give aLogcat the permission it needs: pm grant org.jtb.alogcat.donate android.permission.READ_LOGS Remove the .donate from the name if you want to do the same for the free version.
Makes the almost impossible very easy. Allows even non-Devs to contribute as well. Donate, donate, donate!
I've heard Google changed the permissions for log access. Please fix! Dev provides no updates anymore it seems.
Want to use it but cannot due to the permission issue, one star review as it dont work and needs updating.
Doesn't seem to be working on my Galaxy Nexus with JB. Useful tool for devs when it works. Alerts would be a nice feature to add.
All who use the free app ought to also get this. Thanks for the very useful app.
... and had to come back and pay for it. This is easier to use than adb!
Simple process(es) fcing taking log of curious code
I looked at the free version and saw 100000+ downloads. 500+ for the donation version. Shameful. I didn't even get the freebie but this version right away. It's just 0,75€ people. Will update stars after actually using the app :D
Thank you for this useful app. I got it after reading about it on thriveforums. org and reading that Dolphin HD devs recommended it to users to send logs when people have problems. Bought the donate version because I believe if an app is useful to me, I should support the developer. Quite a bargain. Thanks again.
...to send to app devs ;-)
Especially given that the price is only a cup of coffee, and it will save you thousand fold in head scratching when you hunt for unexplainable behavior in your apps :-)
This is a very handy app, well worth the price, and if you are a developer, you should really use the "donate" version.
Useful beyond compare for diagnosing application issues that arise away from an adb connection.
