JT65android for Android
Little bits of text are off the right side of the screen. Cannot transmit on crashes with high battery drain. RX seems a bit deaf, much fewer decodes than sound copiable. De VK3YWB
Found the problem. My cell phone time was off by about 7 seconds even though "synced with the network". I downloaded ClockSync and synced with the NIST time servers. Now I'm getting decodes. The author of this JT65 program should somehow include a time sync feature to make sure you're in sync with everyone else transmitting.
This is a very poor attempt at a nice idea. It falls way short of a viable app in the app store. Do some work before you put it in the store...you could not have possibly tested it.
73 buttons are completely cut off on my display. Aside of that, works as intended. A few qso made using the phone. Waterfall would be useful as would perhaps a tune feature to adjust levels before cq.
It works very well on my older Galaxy Stellar. I don't normally use the waterfall, so it works sufficiently. Someone said this is a good first attempt, and I agree. It is a nice BASIC and NO FRILLS JT65 client. I can't wait to try it with a QRPver rig for 20m. 73 de KB2HSH FN02qt
I appreciate JT65 application development for Android but there are bugs in it making the application unusable for sending. RX works well. Email to developer was unsuccessful (mailbox suspended). 1. Program crashes if "send text" or unexpected message in JT65 protocol is used. 2. Most messages sent have incorrect format - there spaces between message items (calls, report, locator - see upper right) and therefore all messages are truncated (missing reports and locator for example). My setup is Lenovo A3500FL running Android 4.4.2. the sending was monitored by WSJT-X on PC. 3. There is an intensive clicking sound in modulation (like short pulses) with the frequency of about 10Hz - it needs probably a galvanic separation of tablet and TRX with acoustic transformers. Agreed, definitely not ready for prime time app. After 2 days of testing here are my not so great conclusions when using the Wolphilink interface: Setup locator: The app will not transmit my locator correctly when using my Samsung Tab A tablet. I managed to make it work by trial & error of other characters totally unrelated to my locator. It does fine on my Samsung Grand Prime cellphone. Sending reports: This turned out to be the deal breaker for this free app. All it sends is my call sign & locator when using both my tablet & cell. Rx sensitivity: Sub par to say the very least. When conducting a side by side comparison with my home station, I figure the decode success rate to be 20% at the very best. Waterfall: There isn't one, a definite minus but not totally necessary nor is there a log or odd/even tx start minute. Having said all of the above, this app does apparently work for some quite nicely. It is a step in the right direction & hopefully a later revision will address the shortcomings for the rest of us.
Been enjoying this as a first foray into JT65. Would appreciate an export to CSV function, either to a file or the clipboard--leaving a smartphone running overnight receiving signals means a quantity of data I'd rather review on a separate app. Any thought of handling JT9?
Using Rx Tx web-based receiver to receive jt65 using this app and it works! Wish I could save received station info... No adif ?? Don't stop now app is great
Crashes every time I try to transmit. LG 4g lte tablet
Great start, but needs more work!
Good idea but it's really unstable, doesn't display the full screen on my Moto G, can't see the rightmost buttons even in landscape mode, crashes a lot, can't understand why serial interface if you can get away using VOX like many other apps and the clock needs to be much more accurately controlled. Nice idea, nice app, but needs some more work.
It needs a waterfall display if possible. And, it keeps crashing when I try to use the "send text" option, why??? Would happily pay to see this app expanded with additional features!
it's a start. I am new to JT65. I have a couple of demo videos on YouTube. We need to provde support to our developers. I works with my Wolphi interface I use for my Wolphi apps (like droidPSK et al). It's free, so there can't be too many complaints.
5 stars if it could be used with USB sound cards for newer tablets and smartphones with USB. Worthless unless you make your own cable.
Wonderful first go! Works with KX3/Samsung Galaxy Tab A very well. Hope to see even/odd transmit ability and easier way to shift frequency. Hope more on the way!
Nits: no logging/adif export - times need to be in UTC! Tested on 3 Android devices- cellphone, Acer 200 Tab, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Worked well on all with WolphiLink interface and also with VOX. Please continue development of the app!
Great first JT65 app for Android! Only decodes fairly strong signals so it's not a replacement for WSJT-X 1.7 yet. Looking forward to future updates!
Great start, but needs more work!

Considering this is the very first JT65 app on Android, I would say this is a huge step forward for Ultra-Portable Digital Communications. There is room for improvement, but let's focus on the fact that now we have a solution to work with. The only feature im really missing is a built in logbook with Adif export. Great start, and please consider continuing the development of this app. It's extremely important!
Definitely not ready for primetime. No way to change mic inputs or gain; needs locale translations.

So far I have not transmitted with it. I want to learn more about the mode before I do. Receive worked fine on my Asus tablet. Does the app need work? Certainly. But I find many of the comments on these reviews without merrit. The app is free and seems to be the work of one person. So instead of complaining I think I'll email the chap and see if I can help in some way... And to the person complaining about the app being useless because you have to make the cables to use it: You are a Ham. Make the cables and get on the air.
