1. I want to change where Just Playlists stores playlists. How do I do it?

By default, Just Playlists stores playlists in a folder it creates on you device's internal storage called "/mnt/sdcard/justplaylists/playlists" ("/mnt/sdcard" may be different for your device). To change this, tap the far left button at the bottom of the main screen, which will take you to the "Choose a playlist..." screen. Navigate to the folder where you want to store playlists by tapping on a folder name to go into the folder or tapping the full path display at the bottom of the screen to go up by one folder at a time. When you're in the folder you want to use, use the menu to choose the "Save created playlists here" item. Now, any new playlists you create will be saved here.

2. How do you see the songs in the currently-playing playlist?

There are several ways. Touch and hold the playlist name at the top of the main screen. You will be given a menu with a "Show playlist" as an option.

You can also choose the "Main screen menu->More->Now playing" option.

Lastly, if you have gestures enabled, you can swipe down on the album art to bring up the playlist listing.

3. Can you use gestures to control JP?

Yes. To enable gestures, go to "Main menu->Preferences". Choose "Enable gestures". Now you can swipe on the album art as follows:

Up -> Choose a playlist
Down -> Show playlist/Now playing
Left -> Next
Right -> Previous

4. I don't want to be asked if I want to shuffle a playlist when I load it for the first time or if I reload it. Can I turn this off?

As of version 5.3.0, you can. Go into "Preferences" and choose the option to "Disable shuffle query box". Now, by default, playlists will not be shuffled on first load or reload. To change this behavior, click on the "Disabled shuffle load option" preference item. Here, you can change the default to be to shuffle or to take the same action as the last time the playlist was loaded. I like the last option, since I usually consistently shuffle or don't shuffle certain playlists. If you choose this for a new playlist that doesn't have a last action, it defaults to not shuffling.

If you want to override the disable and have the query box appear on a playlist reload, Go into the "More..." menu and choose "Reload playlist with query".

5. I upgraded my phone to Android 4.x and now get an error when I try to save a playlist to or delete a playlist from my external microSD card. What's going on?

As of version 4.x, Google has changed Android such that apps cannot write to or delete from arbitrary locations on an external microSD card. I'd suggest saving playlists to your phone's internal storage. These playlists can still reference music stored on external storage.

Really like this as I need it to play m3u files with relative path names. No other app does it that I can find. I would like two enhancements (can't get to your blog for some reason, so posting this here): (1) Button on play window that will turn on/off repeat (don't want to have to navigate to settings each time I want to change it). (2) fix path name reader to allow special symbols in path name in m3u file. Right now, when % or some other special character is in the path name, it chokes. Will be glad to purchase this product when you make these enhancements.

This is a really good app for playing m3u playlists, haven't tested it with .pls playlists yet but I assume it works with those. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the controls are not properly labeled to be read by Talkback, I'd be happy to buy the full version if this is fixed.

All need found here. Continues to play list from the place where was stopped. Pretty lightweight app.

PLAYLISTS more than 1000 YES PLEASE - A little dated UI but easy to work out to add a folder(directory) full of your music then you get more than the limited 1000 on android music player. Then you should wait (you can watch the playlist build) on your music player and off you go ... unlimited playlist. After adding the directory - you can then delete the songs in that directory you don't want on that playlist. 5 STARS! Thank You!

I had such high hopes for this program as it had the features I wanted but you have to add each & every track individually to the playlist which if you have 10,000 or more files could take years to do. Having a select all feature for creating playlists is a must!

So, in a really fiddly way I can create a playlist and save it... but then the app can't find the playlist that it just made - WTF!? @developer, #1 you should be ashamed of yourself and #2 test your stuff with real people before you put it into the store.

This it's exactly what i need - to be able to select exactly which files i want for a playlist wherever they may be, with minimum fuss and no stupid animations or needlessly restrictive user interfaces

Perfect I can't find any program that can do what this does. You will never hear the same song twice. My only suggestion would be to add controls to the notification area.

It does exactly what I want. Opens local playlists, plays the stream even in the background, remembers where the files are and is super simple. Perfect.

I love this app because I have to have the option to have shuffled playlist that does not repeat songs. (funny sentence :D)-(I don't know why other players does not understand that there are people that cannot live without being precise) Well anyway, there is one thing that breaks it: (please help!) I always add 400 songs in my phone, (click myself to death while creating the playlist - seriously, you should just add "select all" option or something) and it always creates playlist with only 399 songs in it. Is 399 a a limit? Or is it just trying to drive me crazy (which is succeeding).. Thank you in advance,

There is AAC format mentioned on program icon, but program doesn't play AAC tracks.

I was satisfied with this on my previous phone but now on moto g android L, each time I creates a play list it deletes ALL the playlists exists in that folder but the only one which I am creating I list all my play list two times, please fix this ASAP

No logic on how to use this app. Very tricky to work out functions . Would be much better to have a splash page of text showing basic instructions , just to get the user a start. I respect the work of developers . Unfortunatly I am uninstalling due to frustration.

Now, when I open a .m3u file, it tells me that it can only open .m3u and .pls files. Plz fix. (Or tell me what I'm doing wrong)

Thank goodness. Ten years ago it was no problem to find an mp3 player that can play from a playlist file. Now it's almost impossible. This is the only app I've found that executes this simple functionality. No indexing, no dynamic libraries, just a simple open, play. Nice! Also, this works fine on my Sprint Galaxy S3, but all my playlists are created on a PC.

Because: this is pretty much the only music player for android that has SHUFFLE PLAYLIST. (play each track ONCE, until the end of the playlist, randomly) It's pretty bare bones but it's works like a charm. Always remembers where you left off, and allows you to browse your actual FOLDERS instead of a list of artists or albums or other bullshit. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that the program does not actually show you the contents of the playlist you are playing. So you can't really see and scroll through the songs you are playing. I'd give it 5 stars and also buy the hell out of it if it had a scrollable playlist and a "find song" / "jump to track" / "jump to file" search function. Thanks Keith for your common sense! You are a valuable man.

I love this app. Its about two steps away from being a perfect all around music player. Add support for folders with the same wonderful gapless and this will be an easy 5
