About Karlurri pata kawulurrangken
The matching of Mawng bird names with their English and scientific names was done by Ruth Singer and Janet Mardbinda in collaboration with Mawng-speaking elders Nita Garidjalalug, Nancy Ngalmindjalmag, Frank Nabalamirri, Paul Milaidjaidj, Rosemary Urabadi, Solomon Yalbarr and Rachel Meiyinbara. Carolyn Coleman's comparative list of bird names in Arnhem Land languages was used as a starting point for checking the names of birds. Thanks to Carly Pettiona for additional assistance at the University of Melbourne.
