Very good for identify and find other to know more about your record .

It's ok but 1 out of 23 things I put on there is right. The site they use are not always right. Try a book to find out what they are instead of guessing. I would do 5 stars if they got most of what I put up right but till then. I'm going to try to find a way to fix the wrong names soon.

T70%

It would be 5 stars except that it crashes constantly Like every 5 minutes, sometimes much less. The most time I have been on app without it crashing, is 10 minutes. Something really needs to be done to fix this.

Very handy for keeping track of what is found where, but it lags a lot and crashes like crazy.

Great app but still can't upload my observation photos after many weeks of waiting.

Would like to be able ro search nd filter species on Projects

There are lots of things to improve. The most annoying features are: -The app forces you to use the phone language setting, translating the common names of every species. I use English as a primary language on the iNat web, as the common names of the species for Argentina aren´t available yet on the network. This is quite frustrating as I have to guess what I am really registering. -You can't manually edit the setting of an observation, instead you have to enter coordinates. This is a mess for those who like to organize and properly label the places of the observations. So every time I upload something through the app, then I have to edit the observation using the web... -You can't see your updates! I know there is a dedicated response by the developers but these features would be extremely useful for encouraging the use of this app. Fix this soon please and will gladly update my review!

App is still buggy. Tried uploading many observations on a roadtrip, app only uploaded coordinates without photos. Has to delete everything and do it over again using the website.

Pretty much my favorite thing on a smartphone. Turns your phone into a magical data collecting device almost like a star trek trichorder. One item of note: if you want to do more than a couple observations- and you should! - go to settings and turn off auto upload and only upload over WiFi. Works a lot better and saves you running out of data.

Fabulous website and community. The app works beautifully for entering data in the field, though it has somewhat limited function compared with the excellent website. It would be great if I could see my updates on the app, for example. Despite it's limited function, it is a great tool for data collection. The developers are extremely conscientious and, in my experience, respond fast to serious concerns. After downloading v1.5.3, the software was crashing while opening on my Galaxy S5 running Android 4. Within about 4 hours of reporting the bug (here as a review), the team had identified the problem and posted a new update of the software. A really class act. I have one tip if you spend long days in the field or work in an area with poor cell reception: go into settings and turn off "Automatic Upload (Auto Sync)". This will prevent the app from trying to search the internet for species ID while you are entering an observation, and prevent it from trying to upload photos while you are still in the field. Doing this will dramatically increase battery life, and can save significant frustration.

I'd rather like to support iNaturalist in general with this rating. It is a community to observe and identify natural organisms. The aim is not only fun but also to support a database for researchers. Every nature enthusiast should have a look!

If you are curious about the world around you and want to learn to ID what you see, this app is perfect for you! There are still a few features of iNat that you can only do on the website, like view profiles etc, but it sounds like that's all coming soon, so hooray!

Needs a lot of work. Crashes often. Unable to take advantage of crucial functionality available with the website.

Could be great but still has usability issues. Have to uninstall and reinstall when photos from observations stop showing up (S7 edge).

T70%

I didn't just gave you one star for nothing. I tried using this app as I love taking pictures of insects but I found this app to be really annoying. Have to uninstall. Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor. I uploaded my pictures on your app, not trying to take pictures with it. They disappeared.

Would like to be able to add more than one observation at a time

T70%

I really like the idea behind this app, but find it somewhat unintuitive. Would have loved a tutorial/intro. Bug(?): several times yesterday, when I updated observations, I lost the pictures that were associated with it and had to upload them again. Also, really like someone else's suggestion of badges/achievements. Plus maybe profile pages?

T70%
by T####:

The bugs in this app can be very frustrating. Right now I can't see any photos of my observations, just default icons. And not even always correct default icons - I have a plant with an insect icon right now. The app also has uploading issues, in which multiple entries will be posted for one observation, all with partial information. As in, one entry will have the photo, and its duplicate will have the tags. Very weird.

Dear I naturalist, I need this app for my Environmental Studies Art History class. I just updated the app and everything is messed up. When I select an individual observation I cannot view the photos I had taken. When I look at the overall observation list the miniature sized photos of the observations have been replaced with generic logos. For example, a curved, green leaf or a red spider. Again, I really need this app for my Environmental Studies Art History class, it's a requirement! Thank you.

What I am noticing with this app, is that it runs the GPS constantly, causing my phone to heat up quickly. I would suggest only activating the GPS when a recording is made to save people's batteries.

The app is mostly good. I'm having one major problem that I haven't been able to solve. It seems to work for most people on most smart phones but not on my Samsung Galaxy Mini 4. When I sync an observation all information other than the photos upload (with the exception of the very first observation I made). To add the photos to my observations I have to download them from phone to computer and edit the observation on the website. I now have 38 observations showing on the app that won't sync. All done in the last 2 months. Best explanation to date is that the photos are stored on my phone in a place that makes them unavailable for syncing. But can this be changed and how?

B70%
by B####:

Really like it, but some entries won't upload, and my pictures are always sideways. Also bothers me that suggestions can't be marked as incorrect, they just automatically get marked on the profile. Otherwise, it's great.

U70%
by U####:

I really enjoy the app, but things need to be improved. Other than the bugs which I'm sure the INatrualist team is aware of already, there should be tweeks to location options and achievements/observation goals. Otherwise, the app is quite enjoyable... Just please keep updating it!

M70%
by M####:

But many of my photos upload upside down or sideways when elsewhere they upload upright. When viewing my files in Google drive or from a usb connected computer they appear upright, the app seems to randomly rotate the image and keep that rotation no matter how I upload it. I had 10 pictures of a roadrunner that I took in quick succession but each one uploaded sideways or upside down as if i had been spinning the phone while taking pictures.

Dang. Dunno what is wrong. This used to work. Now it don't. Galaxy S6, android 6.0.1

The location often isn't accurate. The photos can't be rotated. Needs to have a verification process using books.

A constant state of crash

T70%
by T####:

Every time I open Projects the app crashes. I can't add or join any projects, and editing sometimes makes the app crash, too. I was part of Project Noah for years when I had an iPhone, but they decided not to make an Android version, so I stopped uploading observations even though I have 500+ positive IDs on there. Overall I like this app and hope I can start adding to it soon!

I70%
by I####:

Very nice app that works well alongside the website version. Only problem is on the mobile app, the observation list is limited by the first few observations added. Anything after 23 observations does not show up in the list. I have not found a way to get those to show up in any way.

App could use some work though
