Safe Pregnancy and Birth for Android
The app is ideal for those traveling to developing countries to work alongside community health workers or midwives. Once downloaded, this vital material can be accessed in the most remote communities, with no internet connection required.
Safe Pregnancy and Birth contains a wealth of information on:
* how to stay healthy during pregnancy
* how to recognize danger signs during pregnancy, birth, and after birth
* what to do when a danger sign arises
* when to refer a woman to emergency care
Over 20 “How to…” instructions for community health worker skills provide step-by-step explanations such as “How to take blood pressure,” “How to treat someone in shock,” “How to stop bleeding,” etc.
In the trademark Hesperian Health Guides’ style, the app demystifies health information, and is presented in a warm, conversational tone.
As this is a beta release, we are aware that it still needs a little work in places. We welcome feedback and code contributions to help improve the experience.
Excellent
To all those rating this app poorly because it's "not helpful advice for a first time mother", take two minutes to learn about the amazing work that Hesperian does, and read the audience for whom this app is created - Midwives, health care workers, and women in under-developed areas with little access to information, training, and supplies. For those people, this app is a brilliant basic starting place, and the publications Hesperian puts out are invaluable, especially given that they publish them available for free. If you're lucky enough to be living in a place with access to health care, supplies, pregnancy professionals, & there's enough food that you don't need to eat insects, good for you! If what you want is a cute app that will tell you "what to expect when you're expecting" with adorable graphics of how your baby is growing; there's dozens of apps out there. Don't give a bad rating because an app wasn't what you were looking for and you failed to read the details. For what this app provides, it's brilliant and in many regions, invaluable information: even eating insects. Insects are a valued source of protein and part of the traditional diets in many, many cultures.

Superb!
This app is easy to read, understand, and navigate. It is a valuable tool for anyone who needs information about pregnancy and childbirth. Thanks, Hesperian!
As a Birth Assistant and Labor doula, the information this app provides is truly invaluable. I already knew many of the things listed but that doesn't mean that there weren't plenty of topics to educate myself on. Bravo!
Essential for midwives and community health workers as well as pregnant women they work with in the us and around the world
Need more info about the baby. Other then that its a great app...
I am a first time mother and this has been the worst pregnancy app I have ever used.
Pineapple and papaya are not allow when you are pregnant but here it suggest to eat those and most people dont eat insects but here it says to eat insects. I dont understand why they wrote those things. Are they making fun or joking with pregnancy :@ its about new life not just new topic. So i am on doubt that is all the info are correct or not.
Compared to other pregnancy app. This lacks personality and being related. Being a mother to be for the first time I dont feel re ensured with this app like others.
Cool

It gives all the normal advice, and what to expect. It would be cool if you could add some psychological aspects as well.
