Plays MIDI files using SoundFont SF2 files. It can also be called a SoundFont Piano with USB midi & Keyboard Midi support, RMI player, midi recorder.
Features:
- Listen to midi & RMI (rmid) files with your custom instruments packed inside SoundFont files.
- Export midi + soundfont to ogg. (Extra function)
- Switch to soundfonts fast!. Depends upon Soundfont size.
- Test SoundFont instruments with a small virtual piano or USB MIDI Keyboard, Normal Keyboard. Supports Key, Volume, Pitch, Modulation, Pedal events. More should work but i could not test.
- Record to mid file from USB Midi keyboard, USB keyboard and virtual piano. (Extra function)
- Plug normal USB qwerty keyboard & play midi.
This app is not a dedicated (at least up to this version)

IMPORTANT:
- Using USB MIDI Keyboard device while midi file is playing might not work as expected because midi events change settings.
- If USB MIDI Keyboard doesn't connect try to turn it on & off & select this app is asked by OS.
- Not all SoundFont files with extension sf2 are supported. Only fluidsynth/PolyPhone-1.x supported sf2 are usable.
- Effects like Reverb, Chorus, high sample rate & interpolation can cause high load on CPU & cause glitch in audio. This app uses FluidSynth which requires powerful CPU. Reduce all options to minimum if glitch free audio is needed.
- Volume gain can cause audio clipping / noisy audio. Keep it below 1.0 if volume is already high for a midi with lots of instruments. Better is to keep this minimum & increase volume from device's master controls.
As reported by a user some Tyrian MID files were not playing which after testing i found were .rmi files with mid extension. I have updated app to play rmi files.
Issues:
Latency issues on some devices.
I am not working on this project from past many months. Midi has more internal support on latest Android and will keep getting better expect. I don't know when i will update this app but am planning to unlock paid features. Total sales in past months make no sense to keep working on it. Anyone wanting a great midi player can try DroidSound app which has Bass midi driver and also supports packed SoundFonts. However i use my own player :). Please do not buy unlock app if you are expecting long term support. But i will be happy if you help me by donations which also removes ads.
Assets usage:
- Most of midi used from www.vgmusic.com.
- Only those soundfonts, midi musics are use which had permissive license. However some license were hard to find. Musics are remake/remixes and may resemble OST of some popular game. In that case please let me know if you have problem with distribution of the musics. I will remove them :/
- The assets used were used with the purpose of giving a demo of audio produced by this app.

Will there be a way to change the instrument used on different channels? It's great being able to use custom soundfonts but most of the time they sound off due to instruments not matching.

I searched for an app specifically for this on the store and I had to choose yours! A suggestion, maybe being able to switch which instrument can play in each MIDI channel? Also, polyphony support, I'm only using touch screen for now, not sure how it is with a keyboard.

Sgm v2.01 doesn't even load it just crashes. On a side note arachno soundfont v1.0 really lags on faster midis also this doesn't seem to happen on my lower ram device

Yes, you are right, not all soundfont can be loaded.I try 8rock11e.sf2 and it says failed to load soundfont but if use other midi player like midi Voyager, that soundfont can loaded. Did you can fix it?

Love the QWERTY input! But I have an idea that involves a QWERTY keyboard having 4 octaves instead of just 2. The ability to map keys would be awesome! The ability to hook up TWO separate QWERTY keyboards (plus have tilt volume) would be worth 5 stars! Thanks for everything!

Edit: With the added support for rmi files this app is litterly better as a player than all other apps I've tried, including Timidity++ (a paid for app). While Timidity struggles with envelopes and sustains as well as failing to use instruments in some cases, this app completely supports MIDI 1:1! The only thing missing is media controls, but considering how amazing the player is I can happily overlook that.

The newest update makes the app not work on Android 6.0 "Marshmallow". It hangs on a white screen then says that the midi player has stopped working.

The app may or may not be good. I do not know. I do know I dislike any product - particularly an app based almost entirely on free software - that presents me with a EULA denying responsibility for harm to my device, especially when it is precipitated by adware the developer chooses to include with his app. Such harm is certainly his fault, whatever the waiver says - he presents the product as safe. Google does not require adware. Worse, adware always harms devices (I will not explain this). Best to sell a clean app than to have to hide behind a bad EULA to bring in minimal reward.
