About LibreOffice Viewer

LibreOffice is the best free office suite on the desktop, and is now available on Android as a native application. LibreOffice Viewer supports many document formats:

• Open Document Format (odt, ods and odp)
• Microsoft Office 2007–2016 (docx, xlsx and pptx)
• Microsoft Office 97–2003 (doc, xls and ppt)

LibreOffice Viewer also comes with a preview of the editing functionality, which is considered an experimental feature and not stable enough for mission critical tasks. (Visit the Settings to enable this feature.)

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome, to help developers improve the quality of the application on its way to being a full-featured editor. You can report bugs and attach files that trigger them here: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org

LibreOffice Viewer is using the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, macOS and Linux. This, combined with a new front end based on Firefox for Android, reads documents similarly to LibreOffice on the desktop.

LibreOffice Viewer is released under the Mozilla Public License v2. The software is backed by a dynamic community, represented by The Document Foundation, a not for profit entity based in Germany.

Credits: LibreOffice Viewer has been developed by Collabora and Igalia, backed by Smoose, with contributions from Google Summer of Code students, in joint cooperation with The Document Foundation and the LibreOffice community. SUSE has provided a key foundation of cross platform support, and Mozilla Corporation several core components. Special thanks to hundreds of independent LibreOffice contributors, who have contributed to the source code since 2010.

No he visto una plataforma que de más problemas. Se me borran documentos solos, se cierra cuando le da la gana... Horrible

Well, the current version keeps crashing as soon as I open a .odf file. Worked before....

For all the people who have been giving less than 4 stars, please read the description. This app is still in development and alpha status. For me these are great news to know we're going to have Libreoffice in our mobiles. Many thanks.

So sad ???? I don't like it but I wish you the best with the other versions. LibreOffice I didn't expect this quality. ???? Please make it more user friendly. Design looks really old and ugly nothing makes this app useful for me. Please I wanna support the open source community but with this quality hell nooo I'm so sad.

N70%
by N####:

Does not open documents (acts like it's trying and then returns to the user interface), or if it does only part of them. Very dissapointing.

R70%
by R####:

Not ready for Play Store. Weird black or white squares all over the file, covering the text. Half the file is just blank, as if the text hasn't loaded completely. Takes too long to open a file. The description says there are basic editing functionality, but I don't see them. I love LibreOffice and hope you'll keep working on the app, but there's still lots to do. This isn't ready to be offered as a product, not even as an alpha, it's absolutely unusable.

Work in progress I use spreadsheets for club accounts, hoping to use app to replace PDFs at meetings! Simple single sheet works (column widths wrong) Collapses in a smelly heap when trying to show multiple complex sheets. Will keep in hope that eventually it will just work.

R70%
by R####:

Promising! I've been a very happy Libre Office (Windows PC) for several years. Whilst I would have little use for a full version on my Android phone (an ageing S3), a simple viewer is very handy. I've only used this development version to view some simple Calc sheets, but aside from some minor graphical artefacts (easily resolved by zooming-in, then out or vice-versa), it worked well. I hope the developers will continue this project - I would certainly appreciate it!

Q70%
by Q####:

Can't open even simple .fods files. Just get a progress bar for a few seconds and then it goes back to the home directory. No error message even.

R70%
by R####:

Absolutely worst to be worst app made by developers. I think this app was made by 5th class students. Not open any file and always stop working. I waste my time and data to download this worst app. Plz not download

R70%
by R####:

It crash while opening even single page xls and docs. If you had Galaxy S4, don't waste your time for installing it.

R70%
by R####:

For some reason it's more stable with M$ formats than OpenDocument ones. Worked about a year ago, then started permacrashing. Now it works most of the time

Abandonware? Libreoffice for mobile has been years in the making, yet remains alpha-quality software. I am a longstanding LibreOffice user on my computer. I understand that Libreoffice is developed by volunteers, and that is the fundamental problem with it. Without serious corporate backing, including human resources and marketing, Libreoffice cannot hope to compete with Microsoft.

R70%
by R####:

I had a spreadsheet that was password protected in LibreOffice on a Windows computer and I transferred it to my phone so I could open it on my phone when I don't have access to my PC. Huge disappointment when I needed it. Android MS Excel didn't work either but OpenOffice did. Kinda goofy.

R70%
by R####:

Good job bringing LibreOffice to Android, but it needs alot more new feature, Basic Editing works fine, but we need advanced editing in the future, as well as creation, intergrated printing and more... Keep up developers thanx for this great open source app

R70%
by R####:

Really like being able to view my libre office docs on the phone. Like the beta it now allows some simple edits (settings => experimental). I can add simple annotations and sort out the full formatting and finer details later when connected to a computer. Thanks, please continue development.

R70%
by R####:

Unfortunately the last update was a year ago in November 2016, but I hope it's still being developed and I hope it becomes as great as the PC version. Apart from that it does what it says it does, which allows you to view files and make basic edits.

R70%
by R####:

This is able to display pretty much any document I get sent to me as an e-mail attachment. Looking forward to the day when editing is fully implemented!

Z70%
by Z####:

I'd be happy to have just a viewer but on my external memory card. This app is not of a type that needs to be stored on the internal memory only. But there's no option to move it.

S70%
by S####:

For an prototype application it works well, yes there are parts I would change, but for a viewer, it's a great start as an editor, it is in fact better than some of the wordprocessor apps

R70%
by R####:

Doesn't fit onto internal memory. Why can't it be moved to external SD card? Any reason moving is blocked? C'mon guys, it uses over 150MB.

I70%

As the app is still under development.. I would like to appreciate the developers by giving 5 stars. Certainly work needed in some areas and I hope they will do it.

T70%

Thanks for making an mobile app for open source office suite. This is still in development stage so I guess this would take some time. Microsoft office apps are paid so it often get updated but power of open source can't be ignored. Thanks to the team for making such awesome product. Long live Libreoffice.

Extremely slow even on a high end phone. Bad formatting, unusable

E70%
by E####:

This app is useless. Go for something better. I just uninstalled it. ????

R70%
by R####:

Sorry, but it doesn't work here. Tried to open an odt file but it just returns to file view. Hoping for an update, will review again when it happens.

R70%
by R####:

I use Libre Office on Raspberry Pi, I was afraid that this was not ready. I have a Note 4 SM910V Android 6.0.1 Sept 2017 patch. This App crashed before opening any document. Bummer, I hope the volunteers get back together.

R70%
by R####:

Don't bother. Print a pdf and read that. I notice there are recent updates, which get bad reviews also. Libre doesn't even appear in my apps with an update available, so presumably would have to uninstall & reinstall.

F70%
by F####:

One star is inappropriate for a viewing app that is a work in progress, but how else can I rate it when it cannot even see much less open any files (except for some old back up jpegs on the external SD card.) Looking forward to what's in store here.

R70%
by R####:

It just shows ?NAME# for any formulas more complex than 2+2.

F70%
by F####:

MS WORD or GOOGLE DOCS are much, much, *much* better than this. I'm a LibreOffice user on my laptop, but... I can't use it on android, as it is bullshit. NEEDS A LOT OF WORK !!! THEN I'LL USE IT FOR SURE

N70%
by N####:

This app is amazing for a work in progress, the only complaint is the community who seem to have no clue what they are talking about.

R70%
by R####:

I use LibreOffice on desktop and wanted a viewer for open doc format and MS office. This does the job nicely thanks. Be good if the storage footprint could be reduced a bit in time please.

W70%

Well done. It is a great initiative by the Document Foundation. Keep developing and doing right. We are here for testing and support your apps.

R70%

I can't wait to give 5 stars, and am sure you're already working on the glaring issues. Look forward to using LibreOffice like on my *nix boxes. Thanks!

Any attempt to open a docx file just waits a bit, then returns to the UI.
