Tuner - gStrings for Android
As a long time owner, this new version clearly had a lot of work, but why? You want us on Waves, right? The old version of g strings was far better. This new one is just clunky - the side buttons for auto and such appear to just be haphazardly placed. Anyway, Tunable is now my go-to tuner, metronome, and recording app. You guys can learn a lot from them.
Using the paid version on my S4 and still being hit with ads. Now I have a Galaxy S7 edge and installing from my paid account history. If it has ads again I'm contacting the development team. Having said that, I am an accredited piano tuner/technician. This tuner is very useful for setting an equal temperament scale (I only use it to check my ear's scale accuracy). It's also very handy for those "stubborn" pianos we face from time to time. 99. 9% of my tunings are done by ear, but piano tuners' ears ubiquitously suffer from burnout after tuning several pianos in one day. This app comes in very handy on those occasions. To novices and hobbyists, please don't become totally dependent on electronic tuners and never use this to tune strings more than a fifth or so above and below the scale you set. Use this to train your ears, then tune by ear only. Your work will definitely improve.
Good tuner. Occasionally erratic (esp. On samsung s2 tablet, where the needle jams hard right sometimes - just started doing that). Would like a pure chromatic (non-instrument) option. Happy with it.
I've used this app for a long time and it has served me very well. Think it has some nice features, especially the different tuning options
I used this tuner for a long time and liked it, until this update. I want the old one back.
Never expected such a feature rich, responsive, precise, and accurate tuner. Far better than any $30 stand-alone dedicated tuner from yesteryear.
Works well and is a pleasure to use and look at. Been using it since the original gstrings, then Waves, then the new gstrings. My only nitpick would be that the app’s icon feels out of place in the modern Android world, and doesn’t reflect the app’s design language; it was a great icon for the Android 2-3 days. :)
It sometimes needs a few seconds to figure out where it is, but honestly it's great and simple but with a lot of hidden features that make it even nicer.
This tuner works great on my Motorola Nexus 6, even if it messes up (rarely) between D and G.
Great tuner, I've been using the free app for years. Like literally 5 years. I only just thought to support the dev lol. Sorry. The only tuner I use.
This app does everything and more. It's very handy to grab your phone and tune your guitar at a moment's happenstance!
Preferred the previous versions graphics, looked better In my opinion..But it still works well and is easy to use.
Very accurate although my e string tuning doesn't come in easily
This is hands down the best goddamn tuner app I've ever tried.
I think the app is great, but would love it to handle 3 string CBGs as well.
I've never commented on an App before, but I had to comment on this update. The original G strings was THE best and most reliable tuning app out there. It was accurate and the needle moved like an analogue needle. This update is utter crap. I've been a loyal user and recommended the previous version to all my friends. This version will very likely get deleted as I go on the hunt for a new one. Really disappointing as I paid for the original and that's the one I want to keep using. Bring back the old!!!!!
Look, I appreciate that a lot of work went into this and the developers have every right to be proud of how hard they worked... But, using them side by aide, Waves locks on quicker and is more frequently accurate in auto mode. Tuning my B string is hell in this new app. Also, the aide slide outs, while a good idea feature wise, are ugly and out of place as is. I don't know. Thank you for all of your work but, if you were going to discontinue development on one to work on the other, I feel you chose poorly.
The updated version is terrible! I use this tuner all the time and I really hope that you guys go back to the drawing board and bring back some of the previous versions features. I tune a bass and before the update it was very responsive and tuned perfectly but now it can't seem to tell the difference between which string that I am turning and it takes a really long time to get my instrument in tune. Used to be a great app.

I bought this a long time ago and loved it. The developer came out with a new app, waves, which simply didn't work. He has now turned this into a replica of that POS. ABSOLUTELY FUNCTIONLESS!
Always on point. The quality if your mic will determine how well this program works. I downgraded phones from a nexus 5 to a xperia t2 ultra and noticed a big difference, but I love this app
The older version, Waves, which they say is deprecated, is way better. This new version takes way too long to lock onto a note, and sometimes can't lock on at all. Problems especially when switching from open A to B4 on my violin.
DO NOT UPDATE....As stated in the title...The update is a BIG number 2. Should Have Ignored It Two (S.H.I.T)
I don't think any app tuner can beat a real tuner with a clip on pickup/mic but this one works well, just not when there is a whole bunch of noise going on
New design is horrible and it doesn't tune nearly as well as waves does. Just make one app that works and doesn't look horrible. Not complicated.

Back in the days i found this one the Best One and bought it . When using the new version(waves) u can verify it the with g-strings installed.
New layout broke app please fix can no longer tune. Fix ir to like it used to be
I have been using this app about as long as I've been using Android phones. It does exactly what it's designed to do, so I will continue to. If I am at home or at a friend's, this tuner is always available. Well worth the few dollars I spent to not deal with ads, for as much and as many years as I've been using it, it has amounted to less than a dollar a year. Great work.
This is the first app I bought in my life, some years ago. The best and favorite tuner app until this new UI arrived. I just don't like the way it looks. I think a simple material UI + the existing features — which is awesome, would be far better.
Used to love this app. Now it won't open - or rather opens, says another application is using the microphone (no other apps open in foreground or background) then closes. Uninstalled and reinstalled but no change
Use this app often to tune guitars. Works great, simple to use. Ensure you fully close this app after use, to preserve battery
Really liked the original version. The upgrade is not nearly so good.
The major improvement going from gStrings to wave was that I didn't have to say gString to people. Check how it localises.
I use this app every time I get out my Ukulele. The tuner works and my instrument sounds great. Works for guitar also.. Thanks for this great app!
Works really well, is more flexible than the previous version.
Accurate, precise, very useful app. Strongly recommended! 5/5*

A very nice tuner! I'm stunned at how accurate, sensitive and stable it is. Better than my other dedicated tuners. It can get a little confused with the low notes on a bass guitar, but if you tune using harmonics it's as solid as a rock. Highly recommended!... 2017 Update: First review was in 2013, and now I'm on the new version. Works great to tune my double bass and electric basses across three different Android devices. Perfect!
