About Exo planets Explorer 3D HD

Take a thrilling ride through space and visit strange new worlds orbiting alien stars. Beautiful music and HD graphics will carry your imagination deep into the Milky Way galaxy!

Exoplanet Explorer presents interactive 3D models of real solar systems and visualises planets that have been discovered around distant stars.

Features:
★ Beautiful HD graphics with awesome music and sound effects
★ Easy to use and understand, with intuitive controls
★ Over one thousand systems to explore
★ Real planets around real stars
★ A great tool for anyone interested in space or astronomy
★ The fastest way to travel light years through space!

From the lonely Earth sized rock orbiting Alfa Centauri just four light years away, to distant systems with enormous gas giants, exploring the galaxy has never been more exciting!

The intuitive interface is easy to use and the built-in filtering tool makes it simple to find worlds that you are interested in. You can search and sort by name or the number of objects in a system, to name just a few of the many options.

For the global perspective, statistics are provided to summarise the information in the galaxy database.

The data is provided by the Planetary Habitability Laboratory (PHL), a research and education virtual laboratory dedicated to studies of the habitability of Earth, the Solar System, and exoplanets.

Each planet is divided up into one of 6 mass classes, and further subdivided into one of 3 temperature classes. This information is used to create a model which represent what it may look like. These models are then assembled into working solar systems for your viewing pleasure.

This complete version of Exoplanet Explorer features HD graphics, advanced statistics, and the ability to import other databases such as the NASA's Kepler list and the candidate planet database.

Exoplanets are divided into the following mass classes:

* Mercurian - rocky worlds that have the approximate mass of Mercury
* Sub-terran - rocky globes with a mass similar to Mars
* Terran - rocky worlds with similar mass to Earth
* Super-terran - rocky worlds with a higher mass than Earth
* Neptunian - gas giants similar to Neptune
* Jovian - gas giants as massive or more massive than Jupiter

The exoplanets are further divided into the following temperature classes:
* Hot - temperatures are too hot to support liquid water
* Warm - the star’s habitable zone is where liquid water could exist on the surface
* Cold - temperatures are low enough that water would only exist as ice

I started with the free 3D version. After learning how to navigate my way around it I was curious about the upgrade to the 3D HD version. It is a pretty good deal for 3 bucks. I read a review of the free app where clunkyness was a complaint. Just fool with it for a little while and it pulls together fairly quickly. Most things take some patience and understanding before coming fully into view. If you like this sort of thing and you don't work as an astrophysicist, you should be pleased.

This app is hard to maneuver. I can't get info of other planets. Always gives info about solar system. Clicking on proxima centauri does not give me info about that system. And none of the other options seem to work in a logical manner. Water of my money

Hi Neil I love your app Ive been using it on my phone since the first year it was released and the only thing I dislike about it. It came up recently a lot of the planets on your app have become discoloured for example earth looks like its in a nuclear winter with the tint of green and you can't make out any continental landmasses and Mars looks like a black hole. And it's the same with all the Terran and super Terran planets that used to be displayed with lush green continents now they look like ocean planets Please fix this and I will recommend your app to all my friends.

Maybe, someone could pick up where the developer left off, with a clone of this app, (?) and keep improving it. If I knew anything about developing, I'd do it myself!

Beautiful graphics and the music is a nice touch. It's fun the fly around the universe and check out other star systems. Definitely worth paying for the full version. Regularly updated.

Gold standard for exo planet hunting. The database import function is a nice touch. I love showing my young daughter the possible locations for Earth 2.0. Really quite enjoyable.

Just one problem. 1. If you enter flight mode, no matter how much you turn, you will still go in that direction you started. 2. Can you add the music from solar system Explorer. Please.

I have only just started using this, but I am thrilled with most of the features and expect to get a lot of use out of it. The subject of exoplanets is fascinating to me and having an app like this really makes one understand the vastness and mystery of the cosmos. Thank you!

But I'm abit dissapointed by the fact there hasn't been any updates of newly discovered planets it would be a shame to see the app not update more beyond the current 1979 planets that's displayed on the app I would just fall in love with this app forever if it kept updating so please Neil can we have more planets ?

Well, once the ads are gone, it's not bad at all. I wish there were more search criteria

A small cosmetic flaw: the Milky Way has noticeable linear discontinuities that detract from an otherwise gorgeous experience.

Had to downgrade. Nine months and no database update. That's a long time in the exoplanet universe.

Aesthetics are fantastic. J love that you can see the habitable zone and can simulate the orbits over time. Hope they keep updating it and adding more stars and planets as they are discovered! I think they have a dyson sphere to add ;)
