Minneapolis Institute of Art for Android
Worst app ever. First, it died many times off and on in the Institute. Then it stopped altogether. Horrible. Maybe not necessarily about this app in particular, but the narration for the Luther exhibit was dull and lifeless. I suppose in the end, it was okay that the app died entirely as the narration was horrible. I wanted to learn about artifacts and their meaning, but it droned on about how the exhibit was created and politics. Yuk.
After reading other reviews I was a little cautious, but I signed into Mia's free Wi-Fi (as suggested in other reviews) and was pleasantly surprised that I had no problem at all! Very pleased and it greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the exhibit.
Your experience with this app will be terrible if you don't immediately connect to the museum wifi network. Cell service in the area of the museum where special exhibits are is horrible. If you connect to the free wifi at the museum you will likely be fine (unless the exhibit is really crowded and there are one or two hundred other patrons trying to use the same wifi). If you find this application unresponsive (e.g. a white screen appears after you click the station/location number), you are probably not connected to the museum wifi. You may get the first two stations'/locations' audio content to work just fine, but after that it is a crap shoot. No matter how many bars of cell network connectivity you have, try to connect to museum wifi. This has solved all the problems me or the rest of my extended family have had with this app on iPhone or Android. Ironically, the worst place to use this app is in the special exhibit part of the museum where the exhibit is. Network connectivity is supremely disastrous in this spot. If you are at your home it works great. If you are at the park across the street from the museum it works great.
It was very well done and enhanced the already wonderful exhibit instead of repeating. Connect with MIA wireless to have a great connection.
For most points it worked very well on my Samsung. A couple times on the 20s it quit. Not sure why. Ml I'm
Used to find museum info. Now it's just audio tours.
I just downloaded for the Delacroix exhibit and had no tech issues (Samsung Note 4). I really enjoyed the information. Thank you!
Keeps saying need to log into Google account, which I am already. Therefore unable to use audio tour at museum. Needs to be fixed.
Keep getting message that I ne.ed to log into my Google account when I am already logged in. Installs app on my Android phone but does not let me launch tour. Person at exhibit desk not able to get it to work either.
Paid for an in-app tour for Matisse and the app failed/crashed multiple times. At many points the app buttons did nothing - rebooting did not help. My wife on her iPhone ran into many problems as well due to screen lock stopping audio playback.
I can't get this to run even once. I've uninstalled & re-installed, restarted the phone, cleared the cache & data all to no avail. Maybe it just doesn't work on HTC One. Uninstalling but sad I can't use my phone for the museum audio tour.
A map of the museum would be perfect. If it's on there, I can't find it.

My daughter and I visited the Martin Luther exhibit at Mia today. The app worked fine on our Android phones in the first two rooms. After that, we lost our web connection and couldn't get any more use out of the app for the rest of the visit. Mia's tech department needs to add WiFi to the exhibit area because the walls are so thick in that building that the needed 4G signal for the app didn't work.
