Voxdox - Text To Speech Pro for Android
This app accomplishes the goal of listening to my course reading assignments instead of reading them. It takes a little maneuvering but since the app offers several options to retrieve the information it works out. My only issue is that it constantly defaults to the tts for the app so I have to change it each time. I have updated the settings also. But overall I can't complain.
I use scanbot on my text books, then have it read to me with this. I convert many word files to PDF and those are read to me too. An invaluable tool for me. This accesses my Google drive files. I paid for gold and is great for me. Program can't read contractions or : or ; I like that I have options for speed and can download to listen later when I have no service.
Was a great app with the best voices (least robotic sounding) that I could find at a reasonable cost. Bought a gold membership. It worked until nogurt update on my galaxy s7 edge but now fails to upload even the first page. Support website is down. Seems like the app is no longer supported. I emailed the app's author and will see if there is a response. If it doesn't work, it should be removed from the store. It is unfortunate since it was great when it worked. Will give it 5 stars when it works again.
So i need a tts synthesizer and this has the best voice, i adore it. I just payed for the gold lifetime membership to be able to save as mp3 and there is absolutely no option available to do so. Is this a scam?
It worked on some free text and a small pdf, but my book i am writing that is in docx format fails immediately. This is the main use i had in store for it. Any suggestions? (Nevermind. I found a better app)
This app is very good as the sound is so natural. The only problem for me is that books inside the folder voxboox (BETA) don't work at all, I can't even open one of them. So slow. Please fix it. I'll give 5 stars if the problem fixed.
I spent an hour trying to install and run several other apps that were supposed to read text from a photo but found them impossible to use. Then I found Voxdox and within 5 minutes it was up and going. Thanks for your great app!
I bought a lifetime and my setting says I have 5 pages left when I get 1000 a month. My music player keeps all the PDFs I have which waste memory. The scanner is a great idea but when you scan text it messes up a lot. The reader is good needs a lot of fixing.
It reads my PDF books / Adobe files, out loud on my android smart phone or tablet and I can just lay back and listen. How nice. I wish I had this app 40 years ago in college. Thank you for it. I was just listening to Frederick Forsyth's Day of the Jackel and the Odessa File.
This is my reader of choice, but the billing is confusing. In haste I have over paid at 3 different levels and have been unable access them from any device. I certainly know I've charged 3X's.
This has been very helpful with my studying. It's one of the only applications I found that will convert my text-to-speech without having to go through the CDR process. And if you run out of credit you can use the TTS system to download your pages. I read my material while listening to it which is very effective and I also listen to it while I'm driving. There are some quirks but the resource that provides outweighs them.
I absolutely love this app and recommend it at least three times a week. Thank you! When a doc is "playing," it doesn't pause for interruptions like phone calls, announcements from Google maps, or sounds from other apps like audible or Spotify. Those apps are great at this seemingly simple feature. Otherwise, I use this 20-60 minutes a day to read everything I want to while doing mundane things to make the most of the day.
This app has the best TTS I've used, it has voices mimicking accents which is especially helpful for non-native speakers. Love it! However, the interface is very lackluster, cannot convert line-by-line and could use better details editing options. Regardless, the app is amazing at what it signed up to do, so I will rate it 4 stars.
I'm not sure why people give this app negative feedback. I will admit there is a bit of a learning curve to get it to work. That said once you get your settings correct, it is smooth sailing. This app is by far the best text to speech app I have ever used, and I use it almost everyday.
I am a student of theology and have to not only read, but incalcate a lot of information. Voxdox has solved the problem by allowing me to listen to an enormous amount of things I would not have had the time to consume otherwise. Voxdox allows versatility of speakers, with comfortable speeds. It has put me far ahead of reading when I can listen on the run.

I found that I could not upload text files from my phone or from Google Drive as they failed at the processing stage each time. I could upload web pages using the URL option and the result was very acceptable. As others appear to have been able to upload files, I do not know where the problem lies and an email to the support team has not, so far, been answered. I was also disappointed to find that there are on screen elements in the app which TalkBack cannot read. I will update this review if I am able to get better results.
I love using this app for proofreading my writings! It's also been a blast because it's exactly what I wanted! If I could, however, I would fix some of the reading errors (such as misreading words like "wasn't") some of the voices have. Still excellent and I would recommend this to anyone.
Easy to use! I've really enjoyed this app as I can listen to the news and proofread articles. The only drawback: not being able to download the resulting track. Other than that, keep up the good work!

If your wanting to make mp3s you will have to buy a Gold Membership. Can't even make one for Free. I thought I would just buy a Bronze Membership but was unable to make the MP3's with it. Plus it took me nearly two weeks to get my money back. Would not do business with this company again.
I love this app. It has been a life saver. I just save to Drive and upload and choose my speaker. For a multitasking student with a family, I can do some other things I need to do and still get my "reading" done. It has saved my life.
Has helped so much get through mandatory reading for my Master's classes. Well worth the investment. Only problems I've really had was where the software tried to read multi column text... It just reads straight across instead of column by column.
At first I did not much care for this app, but if you take the time to navigate and learn how to use the app it is quite useful. I would go as far as to say and it's a necessity for someone who needs their hands but has to learn how to do something themselves.. like listening to step by step instructions for changing your heating element.. OR maybe studying while cleaning/gardening. As well as other helpful things.
I paid for the Gold version of this app which is actually the most I have paid for any app. I liked the fact that I could create an audio book from a pdf file (even through I am yet to actually use an audio file with another device). I have a number of issues with this app. First of all, I thought I was supposed to get HD voices. It's still using my local Samsung TTS engine. Second, I purchased Ivona Text-To-Speech engine which is currently the most natural TTS engine hands down! However, I cannot select it from Voxdox. Third, I wish there was a way to Highlight the text as it's being read. I have been using ExPdf Pro which is only $4.99 but it lets me select the TTS engine and it highlights the text as it's being read. Finally (and I don't know if this has to do with the TTS engine) it always reads out the zeroes after a decimal in a weird way. Personally I wish it didn't do that. If these things are implemented, I will give this app a 5 no questions asked! Otherwise I will be reaching out to the company to discuss a refunc
Not so long ago you would go searching for an application on a PC to do what this app does and they failed miserably. You would run into robotic crab, with difficult operating instructions because the program wasn't native to the OS. Now, finally somebody gets it right and makes it easy. Have information read to you in a great variety of voices that are easy to understand. The app itself leaves no room for error. Meanwhile, I have not had to open it directly since I got it because of sharing capabilities.
It worths buying the gold pack of it for the mp3 download. It could have some updates, because of some errors of speaking titles, subtitles, sections, etc, and certain characters, like SH being read as Z in portuguese BR, leads to some awful mistakes (some words just turns into porn slang!). But in deed it is worthwile.
In order to listen to things that I download I have to click through about 8 to 10 times before it will play. Why do I need to do that when all I want to do is listen to something from the web. Other apps will do it in one click vs 10.
Ahhhhh! Did they go out of business? I have used a PDF scanner for my text book then have it read to me. I convert many word files to PDF and those are read to me too. An invaluable tool for me. This accessed my Google drive where I could put files. Disappointed they leave the program listed on Play.
I downloaded the free version, because my android already has Google TTS. Using that I get unlimited pages. The app itself is amazing. Allows me to study anywhere without the hassle of lugging my books around or straining my eye on the little screen.
Update have not heard any response from original creators about this issue . I'm a fully paid member and I can't get help? The problem i have had is when the original text changes from one column to 2 the reader still reads across the full page! This makes comprehension difficult at least and sometimes impossible. I have had to go into original copy text to word to reformat it to be read full page width.
Hi I downloaded this app to help myself in study but when a selected a pdf file from download and after it was ready i selected the option to listen but it only replied no valid text in all pages plz help to solve this i will give you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As a full time working grad student, it's difficult to get all of the research reading completed. With this tool, i can "read" while driving or at other idle times. My productivity and comprehension has increased tremendously.
I like the idea but sooo many problems. Can't convert txt files I get a processing error. Most pdfs only convert first page then stop. App crashes after a few pages. Half of the UI doesn't respond. Melts my battery. Maybe I shud give two stars but im just too frustrated atm
This app is for anyone who don't have time to reading. This app gives you no excuse to not read! Any time when go to gym or instead listening music I listen the books! One book a day is never been easier than now! Thanks to the team Voxdox text-to-speech!!!
Great app - but they are highly immoral. App tries to trick you - tells you that you need to purchase voices, in order for it to work.... which is not true. Android comes with its own voices that can be easily and automatically used with this app. and terrible customer service. i would gladly pay for the app, if the guy wasn't so immoral.
As a health professional in training, this app has changed how I learn. I don't waste paper on PDFs or need find quiet time to read off a tablet now. I simply paste in the URL and let voxdox read it out to me while I am on road or cooking. I do get glitches with scientific words often (too much Greek and Latin in medicine :D) but as updates get better, I find that the text to speech voice is adapting to that better. And now i am enjoying the likes of Irwin Cobb on librevox classics too!
Well, two things have become obvious to me. One, you won't get tech support if you have problems with this app. I've asked for assistance twice in as many months and have never received a reply or assistance. Second, don't bother writing a bad review, because I went back to see when I first asked for assistance and the second time I asked for assistance (both in the 2 reviews & through their email support contact webpage) and both reviews are gone, as will this one most likely.
Voxdox can work ok and solves a real problem for me. It does have it's quirks. I do like it - so consider the rest of this review education about Voxdox's peculiars, not necessarily complaints. I have a 70 mile each way commute on open highway (no traffic). I use Voxdox to listen to PDF subscriptions of magazines I otherwise wouldn't have the chance to read. If I fed it the PDF for the whole magazine it would choke on it (and might try to read the adds to..don't know, haven't tried). I copy out articles ahead of time and put them in text files. if the text files have any special characters, Voxdox won't be able to read it. I have to scan each text file and purge all the odd characters. Examples include stylized quotes instead of plain " (ascii #34) or stylized apostrophes instead of plain '. Once I've pulled the text files out of the PDF and culled through them for special characters it can go smoothly. If I don't do all that then I get a lot of error's. It might work better if I tried it on books instead of a magazine with ads, graphics, and captions it might go more smoothly. It can seem a little buggy sometimes. but when it works it works and I'm mostly happy with it.

Love it long drive to and from work and I just pop in a new pdf and away it goes. Love the different voice choice and timing. Can't live without this app. Jackie's voice is so realistic while reading you forget you are listening to a decoder. Only wish it would allow to put some words I phonetically. Bit rare on mispronunciations
