find & log animals and plants for Android
Know about life around you and improve your biodiversity awareness.
Depending on your current position, the anymals+plants app delivers to you which species inhabit your surrounding.
(As sources over 6 million sightings are available!)
You are also able to log and share your observings.
Further information about the species is provided by a direct connection to the corresponding Wikipedia article.
If you do not get enough species, it is time for you to help making biodiversity data better for everyone by logging species on a search basis:
you can also search the species catalogue by the name of the species. It is possible to search worldwide or within a local range.
If the position-dependant guide to nature is not of your taste, you can easily create your own guide and share it with others.
We hope that this software can bridge the skilled observing community with a rapidly growing smartphone market. Such an active community could highly increase the input of current local biodiversity information into GBIF with huge benefits for the scientific community.
Too bad
Absolutely horrible. Cannot find anything. Uninstalled!!!!
Not a lot of options
So far it's working fine .
Wonderful
Needsto flip screen in droid 3. Needs to have a plant search function by selecting characteristics like monocot and eudicot. Does not show any plantsfor my area.
Unless you know the name or colloquialisms of the item you can't find it. This app needs a feature search such 3 leaves, or 5 leaves, red hairy vine or smooth....
It is a really good consept of an app but I went to location finding in australia and it only come up with a few birds nothing else and the help needs a way to send a message for help
Wonderful
It needs to allow you to actually find animals by a certain location. Thanks for the useless app?
Never got this app to load....screw you guys I'm going home. :)
Not a lot of options
Really should have better preloaded lists based on known habitats. Overall it appears to be a good looking app with nice potential but the animal/bird lists are sparse and the plant lists nonexistent. worth downloading just for future potential.
it crashes will not open
It freezes and forces close on the Droid Inredible 2
I check back on this app once in a while, still is just no good. all over the place interface sucks lacks info!
I was under the impression that it would identify animals AND plants, but it's primary focus is ANIMALS! NOT what I was hoping for, unfortunately. :-(
Needs work...but great concept
Force close on droid bionic
I am sure they could make this app easier to use. I won't be opening it again. Un-Installed
This wasn't want I hoped for I was looking for something to help me identify plants in gardens I visit. When I choose plants it still gives me whales?
The interface is not user friendly and that was the good part........ Lol
This is not what I thought it was. Seems more focused on animals.
The first option I opened titled"identify species"stated only available on German. Uninstalled.
My grandchildren will love this program and so will I. Can't wait to spend time with all the animals. GOD BLESS. Brenda
Never dowloaded an app that took 5 min to turn on and did not even get to use an automatic in install poor very usless I'm a landscaper was hoping for somthing better
Didn't work.
Most of it goes to phone, not, SD Card.
Gets hung up. Doesn't know a chickadee. Needs work.

This app shows plants and animals that live in your area (based on your phone’s GPS coordinates) if they have been previously spotted there. This limits the number of displayed species and means that you don’t have to look at grizzly bears if you are currently in Australia. Pictures and Wikipedia links further help you to quickly identify species during your outings. The app derives its knowledge from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) Database. This database is fed by hundreds of scientists and nature lovers around the globe. However, some common species may not be listed in your area if you live in a remote spot. But you can make additions to the GBIF Database with a simple tap on your phone if you spot an animal or plant and know what species it is (to do so, you will need to register at the anymals+plant website). Other users will benefit from your input, and moreover you can make an important contribution towards protecting your environment, for instance by reporting foreign species that have moved into your area. And you can take pictures and upload them to support your claim that you really have spotted a koala in California.
Simply amazed it covers most of the world. Well worth the download.
So far it's working fine .
This program is for logging species, not identifying them
Poop app real poopy
Not all animals and plant species are linked .there is also no help on how to download species on wiki to anymals server.
Can't even spell correctly. Also, no plant info. waste of time and data usage.
