About AndStatus

AndStatus is an Open Source low traffic social networking client with tree-like threaded conversations.
It supports different Social networks, including
GNU social, Mastodon, Twitter and Pump.io.
AndStatus can combine your feeds from all networks into one Timeline,
and it allows you to read and post even when you are offline.

For Android v.7.0+ devices.

Differentiating features of AndStatus:

1. Many accounts in different Social networks. You may have several accounts in each, write/reply as any "You" and share between accounts and systems.
2. You don't need to be online to read timelines and to post your updates: drafts and unsent posts are kept even after reboot. They will be sent when your device is Online.
3. Convenient tree-like "Conversation view".
4. "Global search" allowing you to search public messages in all networks with one query.
5. Lists of Friends and Followers, presented as User Lists and as Timelines (with the latest message of each user)
6. Tweets/messages/avatars/attached images are being synced in a background, when your device has a good connection. By default, attachments are downloaded via WiFi only.
7. Cached data may be stored for years or for several days only - it's your choice.
8. Backup and restore accounts and messages between your devices. Own your data!
9. Free and without ads, community supported.

This is a really great concept and very much needed but there are too many bugs. For example, the heart and retweet buttons below posts on a gnusocial server I use don't work. I don't know if this is because the server is slow and there's just no UI feedback that the action is being processed or what. But right now it's faster for me to use gnusocial in the browser.

This app is pretty good overall. I am disappointed that the buttons don't work. Also, does it post in all accounts at once? If it does, can you turn this feature off?

M70%
by M####:

Needs UI work to keep up with others, but things load.

I tried it to connect to Mastodon (which is supposed to be GNU social) and it failed: when I add my account, I get ""identifier not valid" : may be syntax restrictions are too harsh, by the way where to find the syntax rules for GNU Social?). Also, I added my Mastodon instance as a social network and, if the name of a social network contains a non-ASCII character, it is accepted but displayed as a dot.

Best gnusocial interface I have seen for android.. I need this on every OS

B70%

Positive: multiple account support. Negatives: massive hog on device data storage; cannot "move app to SD card" at all; slow while loading hundreds of posts onto timeline; cannot upload photos.

C70%
by C####:

It's a good idea and design, but it lacks support for many channels

Just used Mustard instead and it worked great.

Unlike older revision, action to follow and unfollow an user is missing. Or is it moved to some new place? Any other way to report issues?

It's working well on Xperia

No way to use selfsigned certificates, even choosing the "misconfigured" option.....[UPDATE] this is happening because the CA:TRUE flag is not enabled. This prevents android (not only AndStatus) to use a certificate. Raising rating. Please document this .

Simply the best twitter client if you run multiple accounts or even one.

This app is great, simple and effective!

Best client for Gnusocial and pumpio

U70%

I use Talkback service in Android 4.1.2 and this is the most accessible and easy to use app for twitter. With microblogging system, there's support for other types of account too. I haven't tried out anything other than twitter so far. But the approach of making multiple social networking apps available through single app is simply impressive. I would certainly recommend this app. Special recommendation for people with vision impairment.

Offline reading and posting updates are awesome... I use them during my long daily trips in Moscow underground where there is almost no connection.
