What are users saying about ACM CACM

N70%
by N####:

Could be better. The latest improvements have helped a lot but the page framing makes it basically unusable. When reading an article the header and footer areas appear when you touch the screen to scroll. Unfortunately the page jumps around after they disappear and you lose your spot on the page.

N70%
by N####:

ACM should be ashamed. It fails the very FIRST use case--login. Perhaps it works theoretically but not practically.

U70%
by U####:

used to work, now crashes after password entry.

W70%
by W####:

Crashes just after hitting enter. Unusable.

N70%
by N####:

Crashes after password entry

N70%
by N####:

App will not recognize my ACM credentials

N70%
by N####:

I would give it 3 stars for being just okay, but it is glitchy and crashes a lot.

C70%
by C####:

Fix the login issue at least. That's just stupid.

H70%
by H####:

Login using a confirmed to be working user account and password reset today fails. The app login feature seems broken and not tested. Note that the same username and password works on the CACM webpage and on other ACM mobile apps (latest Android). Uninstalling and not trying again anytime soon!

M70%
by M####:

Jumping texts is really annoying

N70%
by N####:

You would think ACM folks would know better than to make a UX that drives you crazy. You are frankly better off reading the articles on a web browser. The issue of course, as others have pointed is the auto unhiding of the header when you're scrolling down causing the text to jump around.

N70%
by N####:

The app works and shows current articles but is pretty sad. The articles list isn't sorted in any obvious order (their website is much better), and the stupid bar at the top disappears 5 seconds after scrolling, causing the screen to jump while reading. Worse, someone seems to think having figured appear in pop-outs instead of being formatted inline like the rest of the world is good. And the pop-outs usually come up blank.

O70%
by O####:

Limits on password, cannot login.

N70%
by N####:

Same issue as other user. Why have a character limit on your password field?

N70%
by N####:

App will not recognize my ACM credentials

L70%
by L####:

The app works and shows current articles but is pretty sad. The articles list isn't sorted in any obvious order (their website is much better), only provides the current issue and a seemingly random subset of previous articles (website again is much better), content isn't cached for airplane mode, and the stupid bar at the top disappears 5 seconds after scrolling, causing the screen to jump while reading. The only advantage over the not-great website is the font is reasonable in the app.

M70%
by M####:

I'd love to read CACM on my way to and from work, but the app is hard to use without a hotspot nearby. My other digital publications allow me to download the current issue to my tablet. Please fix!

Z70%
by Z####:

Wow, I don't know where to begin. CACM hosted content jumps around. EXTERNAL content often scales so badly that both edges of the text are cut off at the sides of the screen and no horizontal scrolling is provided. Also, when links embedded in external articles are followed, the back button skips all the intermediate links and goes back to the CACM app. Some advice for CACM: don't try to host external content, instead just invoke the user's browser.

Z70%
by Z####:

Atrocious UI. Perhaps they should have run it by some SIGCHI folk...

C70%
by C####:

But opening screen after login (Latest) just loops for a long time. When it finally does display the list of articles, the resulting screen indicates the article is unavailable. But accessing the articles via Archives works fine. UsingSays TF201 running Android 4.1.1

C70%
by C####:

As if 25 seconds of load time on startup weren't bad enough, the articles are unreadable because the text keeps jumping around.

C70%
by C####:

But what's the point to show the auto-hiding banner every time I try to scroll down?

Works on my stock note2. The design is not very obvious though.

C70%

Same issue as other user. Why have a character limit on your password field?

C70%
by C####:

Crashes on samsung note2 after login all the time. I was looking forward for an app for ACM so would wait for any fixes in the future

C70%

I would give it 3 stars for being just okay, but it is glitchy and crashes a lot.

C70%

Cannot log in with my ACM username and password. Fail.

Y70%
by Y####:

Bad app. Does not support long password, hence cannot log in.
