Global Emergency Overview for Android
1.Which humanitarian crises currently exist? (World map)
2.What has happened in the last seven days? (Highlights and snapshot)
3.What is the situation in the country affected by a crisis? (Narrative)
4.Which countries could be prioritised in terms of humanitarian response? (Prioritisation)
The Global Overview consists of three main sections:
1.The world map gives an overview of how the countries are prioritised, indicated by different shades of blue. The countries are subdivided by four priority levels: “on watch”, "situation of concern", "humanitarian crisis", and "severe humanitarian crisis".
The priority levels are assigned on the basis of:
- the number of people affected by recent disasters
- the level of access to the affected population
- the <5 mortality rate
- the level of development of the country
- the number of protracted IDPs and refugees.
If a country experienced a disaster in the seven days prior to an update, or an escalation of an on-going crisis, a country is highlighted by a yellow dot on the map.
2.The snapshot briefly describes what has happened in the last seven days from the date of publication, by outlining the crises that have occurred in the different highlighted countries.
3.Narratives for each country included in the Global Overview reflect recent major developments and underlying vulnerabilities of a country. Narratives are written based on secondary data.
Update
The Global Overview will be updated once a week and the results will be available every Monday before midday (Central European Time/Central European Summer Time). In case of major new humanitarian events or an escalation of an on-going crisis which triggers a change of prioritisation, the Global Overview will be updated on an ad-hoc basis.
Same problem as most others, it seems. No news or data despite being in S Korea with some of the fastest data and Internet speeds globally. Either that or the world is perfect and completely void of crises, something which, unfortunately, I highly doubt. Used this app before and it worked so I know the potential to be a great app exists if this bug is fixed.
Upsetting when unable to get any info, didn't have problems when I 1rst got this app ,IT'S STILL BAD !!
Great prigram
This app is tell history world wide ,i need this app.
Keeps saying no internet connection even though I am connected to the wifi. Tried rebooting it but no effect.
D/L on wifi and stupid app says no Internet connection. If I didn't have Internet then I couldn't send this wonderful review....duh
ACAPS Global Emergency Overview is one of the best apps I've downloaded. Great info and incredibly pertinent in today's world.
good
Very good program. .
This app looks really good and informative, however, constant FC can't get past the opening screen. The app just starts up and freezes, tried re-installing numerous times but still the same result. GSII running overclocked ICS.
In every sense of the word. ACAPS data can be accessed over their website, but this app means, field workers can access data, where their is no internet access.
