Droid48 for Android
I have a 'Redmi Note 2 Prime' cellphone running Lollipop 5. Droid48 1.61 froze almost immediately. I have been trying out this latest version, Droid48 1.72, for a week now, and it has not frozen at all, and the key responsiveness is fine. If anyone has problems with key responsiveness in Droid48, the following might make a difference: 1) Click on 'Settings' on your cellphone. 2) Find 'Accessibility Options'. 3) Turn off 'Magnification Gestures'.
Recent update is frustrating to use due to missed keystrokes, despite the haptic feedback firing for each tap. Otherwise a very complete scientific calculator. Switching back to an infix calculator, after using this one for years, has made me realise how natural RPN has become for me.
Once I got used to using the Polish notation (20+ years ago while in Engineering) I couldn't see myself using any other calculator. This app lets me carry myself beloved HP48G with me everywhere
Not much to add. I still use my old 48GX, but this one follows me around everywhere I go - and just works. Perfect. Update 21/12-2016: Just got the latest update and now it is rather slow in accepting my keypress. Needs to press several times to get it working. Looking forward to the next update, which hopefully fixes the problem. My phone is an older Galaxy S4 mini with Android 4.4.2
I use this every day and it brings back the experience of the HP 48 - great app. There are a few minor errors in the 48GX skin (not the bitmap) - maybe these can be corrected. I have listed them below in order of the keys on the keyboard: NUM should be ->NUM; nth root of y should be xth root of y; 10^n should be 10^x; y^n should be y^x; e^n should be e^x.
It was great until the latest round of updates. Now the app doesn't register about half the keystrokes. The phone is clearly registering them since the key highlights and there's a slight vibration so the issue is the app. This is coming off and the go48g app is going on.
The latest update has made the app very slow and unresponsive and forced me to go back to a real HP48 for engineering work. Button presses work but must be held in for far longer than before.
further update got it working again. .. orig note => (Galaxy Note 8) Used to be perfect, now no longer even starts (since today's update). Is it possible to get the prev version from somwhere?
I have used this for a while and has always been great, but latest update caused problems. Like others have said, keypresses are delayed or multiple press to accept. Not sure what is going on, but hopefully will get fixed in next update.
The Dec 2016 update created less sensitive keystroke entry. I end up having to press at least one key multiple times with every entry. Is there a way to fix that? I find the more rapid flash of the cursor annoying. Used the ap for years and generally love it. Samsung Galaxy S4.
Thanks for working on this still. I didn't think there would be any more updates, and I was affected by the freezing too. It seems better so far so hopefully the freezing is fixed. This is my favorite app, and I use it all the time!
I have the physical calculator and the worst thing about it that it makes other calculators infuriating to use. This app is great because now I always have my calculator with me. This app has always worked well for me.
The code in the app that is supposed to perform matrix multiplication is incorrect which renders the app useless. Furthermore, this systematic error will flummox all other matrix operations including eigenanalysis. Would like it to get fixed??? Update: Jan-9-2017 Still broken after new updates.
I loved my GX and after only 20yrs it gave up the ghost, blame it on flimsy US based HP engineering. The new versions just aren't the same. This app is a near perfect replacement. My only wish is that tha app kept the stack on exit. THANK YOU ARNAUD!!
Thanks for putting the old screen back as an option. New users, I recommend using the old bitmap in the settings. The Dec2016 solved the issues I was having when it would crash if I entered data too quickly. Thank you!
Works well, a good emulation. It isn't quite complete but I'm seeing it get closer. The previous version was unstable but it seems stable now.
I loved this app and it was great. Yesterday it updated and now it is a disaster. It ignores most buttons when pressed as well as other problems. Pity. I emailed developer but no reply.
Worked flawlessly until latest update. Now it misses key presses and it's now quite unusable. Removing data and program did not solve the issue.
I have to hit button several times to get it to register. Annoying. I have a GS4.
Liking it BUT continuous memory is lost if phone shuts down ... Now have found how to retain memory if phone does shut down. Only complaint so far is that the contrast settings are not active : contrast stays the same at all settings ...
It's a nice emulation, but the key response is slow or simply won't register (even after haptic FB).
This is my calculator. Used it since college. Thrilled to have it on my phone. Suddenly stopped working.
After today's update, buttons are fine but I still see the status bar at the top all the time and it doesn't store the entries after the app exits. Still an awesome app, this is just data for the author. Note 4,6.0.1
This has always been one of my favorite apps, emulating the best calculator ever made. But after the last update, button presses don't register most of the time. I hope it gets fixed.
It took a year or so, but the author fixed a lot of the crashing bugs that happened with the s7. Good app for people like me who prefer RPN
HP 48G was one of the Best Scientific Calculators ever build. Both it's function and it's build quality. This app is incredible because it gives you the functionality in the palm of your hand wherever you are. It is also a trip down memory lane for anyone who used that calculator in his/hers student years !!! Good Work !!!
Not sure what has changed but after years of working smoothly on a Galaxy S4, the app has recently become unreliable. I now have to press keys aggressively since it hesitates and sometimes ignores inputs. I hope it gets fixed soon, I often rely on this emulator.
...but after updating to v1.72 the calculator became slow and lagging. Doesn't catch the keypresses quickly. Used to be my most useful app.
RPN4life! I love this app. 5 stars with the update. My venerable HP 48GX just died. I do not know what I would do without this app. Works perfect!
I have a HP48 GX 128 from back when it was new after over 20 year it is slit the best calculate ever invented this app is a deem for me as I no longer have to risk taking my HP48 to work. The app works fantastic OK you need to know RPN
Nice but consistently freezes up after a few calculations. Very annoying. Nexus 6 and Pixel.
I am updating my review to say thank you for fixing the crashes. Works great on my Nexus 6P.
Latest update gives Black screen. Black screen error FIXED! THANKS. Love this emulator.
Did have a problem with crashing on Android 6.0, but don't have that problem anymore. Be sure to use Droid 48 Reader which allows you to backup all your programs, directory structure and variables.
I have a samsung G6 and I can't save my memory/state when I close the app. I want to save my custom programs and functions but it is useless if I have to reprogram every time I start the app. Can anyone help me please? Thanks
I paid over $350 for my first HP 45 calculator back in the 70s. I owned at least another 6 different models over the years including a 48. This app makes me feel completely at home with an HP again. Thanks.
Unusable on my 9inch tab s2. Telling what fxn goes with WHat key_yeesh. Shrink the bloody buttons and relayout for tablets or if it's there make it OBVIOUS
What is right shift + 2, so i can play a program/game, please ? The new comers will never understand.
Very nice simulation of the HP48GX Scientific Calculator. Side-by-side comparison with my HP48GX actual was spot on! Would like some inhancements like increased number of digits of precision. But overall a fine piece of work!

The UI on this calculator is the best for the HP experience. After moving up to marshmallow and a 6p the freezing up has started making it unusable. Have reached out to developer but no response yet. UPDATE 3/2017. Developer has resolved issue and I have yet to find any problems. A great app that is very useful and appreciated! Great work!!
