About NZ Grid Reference

This "NZ Grid Reference" application is for using with Zealand topographic maps. It displays the current GPS location in NZ grid/map reference format and in the associated NZTM2000 format.

This app is good for easily getting your current location on your paper topo-map.

The grid lines on a NZ topo map are marked with the same values of the NZ grid/map reference. For example grid ref, "AV30 198 982" would translate on the paper map to 19.8 on the east/horizontal axis & 98.2 on the north/vertical axis.

This purpose of this application is to give the current location in the same co-ordinates of the paper topo maps. There are other free applications like "outdoor atlas" that display off-line NZ topomaps on the phone. It is not the intention of this application to duplicate that functionality.

GPS devices often do not get a position fix inside and can be affected by the environment, trees weather, etc. If there are problems getting a position fix, try moving to a slightly different location and to a location with clear line of site to the sky.

Thank you for the feedback emailed so far. It is appreciated.

This app good if you dont have BCN, very quick gps fix, gives ya position relative to nz topomaps, if ya 1 of the odd people who can stil get around out there wif just nz topo maps & compas that is. But! in saying that if ya got this app ya might as well have BCN which is an exelent fuly functional nz topomaps gps, just like a flash gps unit with topomaps available 4 download that ya pay 100s for, with more accurate fix, than this app that is :-)

Have recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and now this app is unusable. Will not let me access the settings to change grid ref type. Have previously championed this app to everyone I know in Search and Rescue as it was an excellent way, in conjunction with a map to help verifying their location without the need for mobile data. But now am very disappointed as there is obviously no ongoing support for this app as no one has answered my email. ????

Just had a seizure inducing ad strobe violently at me. Bleh. Why does this app read my call history?? Why does it inventory my other apps?

Perfect little app. If you could please provide a way to copy 6-digit and 8-digit grid references to the clipboard, and also the current WGS-84 co-ordinates.

This app does what it says but it displays easting and northing to the nearest 100m. With one extra digit, people hiking in tricky terrain would be better off.

Great app. Full Nzmg coordinates would be handy. Also a few more options on lat/long format. I think emergency services use dd mm.mmm but not sure. Cheers.
