Choice by Flick Electric Co. for Android
Often takes a long time to load any data, if it succeeds at all. Would be much more informative (to help me learn the daily trend) to see a graph of power price over the past 24 hrs, not just spot price. Would also be useful to have a widget showing spot price (1x1, nothing garish please)
Spends whole time loading/buffering, without loading any details which is not useful (is not a connection issue - is only this App, we are on VDSL and other apps working without issue! ) shame as it would be good otherwise. Ps - see the same issue reported previously. Can only get it to work if I uninstall then reinstall...not good.
After all of the terrible reviews the app appears to have not been updated since the end of February - that says something. As a former Powershop customer it has been a huge downgrade using the 'Choice' (far from!) App. Would love to see some love from Flick for this app, and soon.
A very useful app for Flick customers. What would make it even more useful is a prediction of prices based on average price fluctuations - especially a prediction of prices for each half hour for the next 24 hours. Failing that, a graph displaying the average price per half hour over, say, the past week.
It fails to provide both, handy notifications and informations unfortunately. Notifications are truncated in the notification bar. When tap on them, the app opens but doesn't tell what was the notification at all.I kinda know there was something important, but dunno what. Missing the price development chart
The app is very slow to show data, if it works at all. I receive a notification truncated but can't get the notification when I load the app. More info on recent usage and pricing would be useful. You get a warning prices are going to be usually high but you can't see recent usage.
Seems stable but lacks the most useful features - such as a real-time price/emissions widget and the ability to see a usage graph like on the website. Other power companies have better apps, which is a shame given how important it is with Flick to be regularly checking your usage.
The app fails to Work at all on my Sony Xperia xz. I'm greeted by a blank screen and nothing more. Most of the time it just takes ages to load but now nothing at all waste of space
Useful enough for what it does. The generation info is available on em6 though. Settings do nothing - turning things off doesn't get saved or change the screens at all ? How about adding a price forecast feature ?
Overall this app is great and represents a pioneering effort to link up the power market with the end-user. We use it a lot and are very happy customers of Flick! Can't give it 5 stars because I have to kill the app every time I want to refresh. Carry on the good work.
It worked for about three weeks and now nothing shows up on any of the screens when I open the app. Have tried reinstalling it but it still doesn't work. Very disappointed
Whilst buying electricity based on the spot price is fantastic, this application doesn't make it easy. The application seldom works, loading, loading, loading... the idea of checking before flicking is a painstaking experience. Frustration galore, great idea, poorly executed.
You need to work on it : The idea of wholesale pricing is not working anymore. On Tuesday 26 July, price went to 5 dollars per unit (crazy) and we unfortunately used 3 units t that time. So our bill overshot and have got 55 dollars worth of bill. The app failed to notify again about the spike and we lost lot of money because of that. I shouldn't be paying for flicks mistakes. APP IS PATHETIC AND DOESN'T CREATE NOTIFICATIONS FOR SPIKES. Contact centre keeps saying that it does but I am not telling a lie. I
Nice start, would be good to get the option of which page to open by default when we open the app. Lately I haven't been able to get the price to load, I have to force close the app before reopening to get it to show. Love the company but the app needs work
It's ok but can't get my notifications to work for when price over 20c kW (or any of the notifications for that matter). For information would be good like history and forecast as on website. Update, I get the carbon notification but not the others.
This app shows most of time as loading and requires lot of patience to reopen few times to get data. Some times it does load data and most of the time it does not load data. It really takes long time and they could not fix this issue. Really shame on company. This issue can be fixed soon if they have right developers.
Seems to just be an HTML5 app instead of a native Android app. Faster just to bookmark the pricing page on the Flick website than to wait for this thing to load to check current power pricing. Like others have said, a widget to show current price on your home screen would be ace.
It's annoying when I want to have a quick look at the price the app don't work. So have to log on to the website. What was the point of the app then? Powershop has an awesome app that you could learn a thing or two from. None of the info I am interested in are available via the choice app.
Fails to load any data, and doesn't give any error either ... ??? Of no use to me like that. Update two weeks later: Still no fix. Their testing is not up to scratch. And their fixing of bugs even worse. Update a few months later: No fix, no new version, just hints that a new app is coming. It does not work on my Android. Clearly not Choice.
No use full information.Just a lot of crap about emission and saving the planet. Why don't you put in daily usage graphs and trends instead of emission data.
Price screen is awesome. Would be great to be able to order the tabs so I see the price before how green it is. A widget would be flicking ace. Changes to settings aren't saved.
The bugs detract from what is otherwise a nice looking app. Crashed after first login. As others have mentioned it takes forever to load. My settings don't seem to save.
Great potential for a very useful app. Unfortunately the price indicator hasn't once worked even after reinstalling. Good business, but please fix your app.
It takes an age to load the potentially very important info of whether to turn the dishwasher on or not depending in the price and carbon emissions at any time
Doesn't work half the time. Incredibly slow to load if it will load at all. Doesn't alert me when prices spike. Please sort it out Flick.
Great idea but doesn't seem to work on samsung S3 either. Crashes at login page
Was working fine but now loads then stops working and crashes! Have uninstalled and re installed no go! So guys there seems to be a lot of similar problems and app suggestions with a standard copy and paste reply from Nic? Have flick got a 'development department' or are we all being flicked off!
Not much use, IMO the whole point of flick is you adjust your usage based on the current price but without a widget or a quick loading app (Notifications don't work, notification settings reset after closing. ) it's too tedious to keep up with changing prices, makes flick pretty unappealing. And why is the CO2 output the first screen displayed? Customers interested in cutting emissions would surely use a renewable provider (ecotricity, meridian etc) no?
Would like more graphs on forecasted power prices throughout the day, as well as for previous days. Just one number for the current price is not helpful at all.
Been checking every few hours for the last few days. Price has not changed one... Always "a bit high" no use to me, and no point in me switching power supplier if I can't see when to avoid using power.
Crashing problem fixed. Some useful features, like alerts on price over 20c/kwh (though not sure if that's all up inc GST) and prices spiking, though user configurable would be better. It'd be good to see the actual current price, not just low/average/high. Some minor bugs around things showing. Making carbon emissions the first tab seems like a strange choice. Calling it "Flick" would make it easier to find in the app drawer than the rather random term "choice", probably named by the marketing department. All in all a useful app and a good start.
1. I don't wanna see Choice screen when I load the app. Could you please give me a setting to customise what screen I see first. If not then definitely Price screen should be the first one. 2. Could you please add widget which shows just the price? 3. Could you please add rest of the functionalities which are available on the website. I don't want to go to website to change payment options or view my previous bills.
Crashes when I try to log on on S4 mini :( Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: lock == null at java.io.Reader.(Reader.java:64) at java.io.InputStreamReader.(InputStreamReader.java:122) at java.io.InputStreamReader.(InputStreamReader.java:59) at nz.co.flickelectric.androidapp.authentication.requests.FlickTokenRequest.responseToString(FlickTokenRequest.java:178) etc
Good app with some interesting features the only thing I would add is to be able to see what percentage of electricity is being created by the different energy sources on the tool bar next to the CO2 emissions without having to go into the drop down menu
Regularly have to force stop app. Doesn't show the "worm" Can't move it onto my SD card. Can't change alert tone. It needs a lot of work.
Nice looking but why would I open the app? I want to know when I can use greener power, not how bad it is now. Nice starting place and I'm looking forward to the next release.
Hi flick! I'm a huge flickster. I love the app, but one feature that is sorely needed is setting when I'm away from home and don't want to know about prices and carbon. Even using location access would be appreciated. Alternatively, being able to specify when you are always away from home (for work etc). Thanks!
Need more detail in daily, weekly, and monthly use in way of numbers and graphs as well as uo to date rates similar to power shop

Us 'androiders' like to be different from the others so widgets are one example! It would be flicking awesome to have a price meter, on my home screen without opening the app. If you can talk to the dev team, I'm sure they can implement it! 1x1 & 2x2 in size?
