In addition to providing settings to control various features and battery usage of the watch app, the Android app also provides basic management for tracks and waypoints, you can export tracks in KML or GPX format and import or export waypoints in GPX/LOC format.
The companion app is a 14-day free trial which can be unlocked via a one-time in-app purchase.

Good but desperately needs a feature to download maps for use when data coverage isn't available.

This app seems to do nothing at all on the watch, though it does follow a track on the phone. It's impossible to figure out what you mean by "companion app to Skink gps," since there is no other Skink app listed in the play store at all.

'twas really good until the trial period expired and the app does not open anymore. and hoping for a full version purchase instead of the in-app purchase.

Was just starting to write my own watchapp to do exactly what this one does, so you've saved me some effort. Love the GPS satellite status display. App a little buggy and crashes for me currently. Hoping it improves. Good luck :-)
