GammaGuard for Android
It failed to connect to the camera in both my ZTE phone and my LG phone. Even if it worked, it would display junk data. The author seems to have no real understanding of radiation measurement.
Actually works better than I expected. Tested for background 24 hours and 5 hours with 1 microCurie high alpha/low gamma source .5cm from camera sensor(against lense cover tape) and calibrated on Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime back camera. App would be better if had duration timer on app test screen instead of just .cvs logs. Not tested yet with external sensor attached though.Good app, does what it says so far.
It does the job.
There is no help screen and it doesnt do anything. Have tried this app twice now and it seems useless.
Just checked with a calibration source (Co60) it overpredicts the dose rate.
Seems like a fake app. Nothing happens when you open it. I left both the camera lenses uncovered. This app won't even give the camera open alarm. Uninstalling it.
Very detailed instruction. Works great.
I'm a health physicist (radiation safety physicist). This app gave a zero reading around an intense gamma source at my facility.
No way for me to test it
Calibrated then tested with multiple check sources. A standard 65000 count uranium check source, read one count in 5 minutes.
This tool is a must for me because the EPA in Colorado says the ground at RpckyFlats is SAFE. I must and need an accurate tool. Please help,, this is for the future of our children, They must know the truth. I'll risk my heath for others first.
Reading history log would greatly enhance. Only app found that shows real time count estimates with audio warning. Allowed me to confirm suspicion from early version of Gammapix that got readings when exposed to moderate mf, emf, emp, thundering storm clouds... A strong enough field change or moving by one, is detected by photon cell and or circuit. Gets interpreted as light or gamma ray. Your app allowed me to move small speaker magnet close and get counts and beeps. THAT IS GOOD AS IT CONFIRMS SENSITIVITY
Unfortunately the program stops when launched. Although I have a light sensor on my phone, I couldn't test this app.
can't complete calibrate crashes before 1000 galaxy s2
After installed took pic and phone crashed, uninstalled.
It's not working with back cam on HTC ONE M5. Every time I try to calibrate, it says camera is uncovered. With front camera works OK but front cam is noisy. I heavily blacked back cam and even pressed it against pillow. Keeps saying that cam is uncovered.

This app has tremendous potential to save lives during a nuclear disaster by allowing the most effective fallout shelter to be identified. At first I didn't think it worked because it didn't respond to input to either camera, but I figured out I had to run the error correction routine first, and then press the Measure button, which is no longer grayed out. The warning that the detection process may heat the phone makes it sound battery intensive, which would make this unsuitable as a continuous monitoring device. My main suggestion, by far, is to offer some documentation from the Home screen to help users get started. I wonder how many one star reviews here were just users who didn't guess the right buttons to push to get started. Edit 1/25/18: Since I seldom use the front camera of my Galaxy S5, I thought to leave it covered so I could run GammaGuard in the background. But when I try to use the front camera with GammaGuard it invariably crashes. Testing the back camera for more than a few seconds causes the app to crash in that case too.
