EL MISTERIO DL CUARTO AMARILLO

Mathilde Stangerson vive en el castillo del Glandier. El castillo del Glandier es un castillo de dos pisos, cuyo dueño es el científico Stangerson. Mathilde duerme a veces en un pabellón cercano al castillo, en una habitación pintada de amarillo, llamada "El cuarto amarillo".

Cuando ella se va a dormir una noche, pone seguro a la puerta, y se encierra por completo, lo cual le parece sospechoso a su padre y al viejo criado, llamado Tío Jacques. Poco después, se oyen gritos y disparos en su cuarto, lo cual hace que su padre se alarme, junto con el criado. Los dos intentan abrir la puerta del dormitorio, pero no pueden. Mathilde sigue gritando, y se la oye decir "¡Auxilio,auxilio!,¡Auxilio, padre, un asesino!". Cuando logran abrir la puerta,Mathilde se encuentra sangrando en el suelo y con un golpe en la cabeza, pero no se encuentra al culpable en el cuarto. Sin embargo, se verifica que las ventanas están cerradas por dentro, y no hay ningún lugar por el cual el culpable pudiera haber escapado. El cuarto está lleno de sangre, y tiene marcas de una dura pelea.
