Ruter’s mobile app lets you buy your ticket before you get on board. The ticket is valid on the Metro, buses, trams, ferries and trains in Oslo and Akershus.
Quick purchases options are based on your previous purchases and issue you a new ticket in just two easy stages.
You can buy a ticket just for yourself or for a group travelling together.
You can buy tickets in advance, and you can change the start time for your ticket.
For additional security, you can change the fare limit for which a password is required when buying tickets.
Your receipt will be sent via e-mail.
RuterBillett requests access permission to the following functions:
- Read phone status and identify:
Used to protect your ticket from counterfeiting by linking it to your phone's unique ID. RuterBillett has no access to make phone calls.
- Fine GPS location:
Used in connection with ticket purchases, so that RuterBillett can automatically suggest a ticket based on the zone in which you are located. You can still purchase a ticket even if the location function is turned off, but you must manually enter the stop or station from which the ticket will apply.
- Full internet/network access:
Used to facilitate communication with Ruter's ticketing system when purchasing and downloading tickets to your mobile.
- Receiving data from the internet:
Used when receiving error messages and information from Ruter's ticketing system.
- Display network status/View network connections:
Used during rapid receipt of error messages if the network goes down. This is to enable the customer to get fast notification and not to have to wait for an unnecessarily long time.
- Run from start-up/Autostart from start-up:
Used when notifying that a 7-day or 30-day ticket is close to expiry.
- Prevent the phone from switching to sleep mode/prevent deactivation:
Used when safeguarding that communication between your phone and Ruter's ticketing system is not interrupted during ticket purchase transactions.
- Control of vibration function/vibrator:
Used to instruct the phone to vibrate when a 7-day or 30-day ticket is close to expiry.
- Read synchronisation settings:
Used to ensure that period tickets are updated automatically with a control code and today's picture.
If you want to block access, you can do so from your phone using the "Settings" page.

Bug i siste oppdatering gjør det nesten umulig å taste inn betalingskortnummer, dette må dere umiddelbart se å få rettet opp! Ser dere hevder at alle betalingsløsninger nå fungerer som normalt, dette er BLANK LØGN, men hva annet kan man forvente fra ruter.

Positivt: man kan nå kjøpe årskort i appen. Negativt: den fungerer ikke som den skal; samme kattebilde hver bidige dag! Er Ruter klar over dette? Også veldig negativt at muligheten til å melde inn bugs o.l. er gjemt så godt bort at jeg ikke finner den - om den nå finnes. Red.: I versjon 4.2.1 er fortsatt problemet det.

Unlike other Norway transport apps, the tickets don't need you to be online to be accessible. Could also use app in English and was easy to purchase a ticket for the day.

Fint om dagens bilde flyttes vekk fra midten av skjermen, feks legg det i nedre billedkant, slik at det ikke dekker over hvilke soner billetten gjelder for. I tillegg kunne jeg ønske meg muligheten til å kjøpe tilleggsbillett til feks Drammen.

Added my debit card as payment in under a minute, so I don't understand why people say that they can't. Now, I'm able to save a bit of money when I am travelling around Oslo!

Concept good, but if you are traveling with a family you have to buy each ticket separately, incurring a transaction fee with each one of you are using a foreign card. Then you find that your card will only accept 3 transactions in ten minutes to prevent fraud. So you can't pay for four tickets. Dumb. Should be able to bulk purchase.

It is good that as a tourist, you can buy your ticket before you leave home. It now accepts European credit cards, which was not the case previously. However, if you are in a different time zone to Oslo, like the UK, it calls an error and the only way round it is to go to 'settings' and change your phone's time to Oslo time, buy your ticket and change it back again. Not the end of the world but an irrigation which I am sure can be overcome to gain 5 stars.

I made this assumption after all my credit cards fail to register without proper error description and I tried to go through the menu, then I saw you can only buy a ticket for other person only if she/he has a Scandinavian number! En bra app, men det burde være mulig å lagre app'en på SD-kort. Dette er mulig med mange andre app'er hvor sikkerhetsutfordringene burde være langt større. Derfor bare tre stjerner.
