About Second Language
An easy to use educational app to stimulate and inspire communication, language development, and multilingualism in children. The app is designed for use in nurseries, kindergartens, schools and homes.
Second Language is the international version of the Norwegian success "Språkkista" (Language chest), developed by a team of nursery education specialists and with support from UDIR (The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training). All translations and recorded sounds are made by professional interpreters.
The built-in image library includes 300 carefully selected everyday words for children in 25 different languages, including many minority languages:
English
American English
Amharic
Arabic
Burmese
Chinese
Farsi
Kurdish (Soranî)
Kurmanji
Lithuanian
Norwegian Bokmål
Norwegian Nynorsk
Oromo
Pashto
Persian (Dari)
Polish
Russian
Somali
Spanish
Swedish
Tagalog
Tamil
Thai
Tigrinya
Turkish
Urdu
Vietnamese
The images are gathered into ten albums based on everyday themes, with thirty two image cards in each album. When a child taps an image the associated word is read out in the selected language. The child can easily switch between their first and second language by tapping a button.
You can easily add your own images and albums by using the built-in camera and microphone. This enables you to build an image library specifically adapted to certain users or to educational goals. You can create multiple users and adapt each to the individual's learning needs.
*Amharic, Burmese and Tigrinja do not have native keyboard support. These languages are audio only unless you install the relevant font.

Awsome app and great potential. Startup is very slow and adding users don't work (not saving and adding own pictures and sound needs a user account). Please fix so me and the kids may use this app to its full potential. Still a great tool.
