About Fractals

This app draws the Mandelbrot set. In the future it will be possible to draw more fractal types and the app will get more options. Like f.e. Julia sets, and also more options for coloring etc etc.

Hopefully I will find the time to extend it a bit more...

Features:
- Save and share images or set as wallpaper
- Manage a list of favorite locations
- Pinch to zoom and button zoom
- Fullscreen mode
- Portrait and landscape orientation
- Choose gradients
- History navigation buttons
- Change parameters, number of iterations
- RenderScript calculations (for Honeycomb & ICS)
- Designed for both phone & tablet

I've been using this app for a while, and it outputs acceptable renders; however, it can be further improved. I do suggest adding an option where we could choose our own color scheme; if not at least add a rainbow one (I call such renders "acidbrots" and I'm a fan of such color schemes). After a certain iteration depth and zoom level, it also starts glitching and only displays a series of lines, which isn't a fault of my phone, as I've used other Mandelbrot generator programs where I can go deeper. I do think the idea of adding Julia Set options is great. If only someone made a 3D renderer, that'd be awesome. Highly impractical and inefficient, but awesome.

Limited color palette. Needs more features. Like the simplicity of it.

Why doesn't the save work?

Brilliant. A very intuitive interface. I still haven't figured out how Android manages files and images, so I really don't know how to get at the saved pictures! I guess I have to share them to Picasa, or something. From what I have seen, the stored fractal contains the parameter information, so I can go back to the same spot and magnification, and explore it on my desktop. This program is very much in the mathematical tradition of FractInt, from Stone Soup, though I'm not sure whether it uses an integer algorithm. A porting of FractInt to Windows could do a lot worse than use the interface of this one. (Actually, their Windows app is a cruder application on the lines of Fractals.)

pinch-zoom and save work :-) no rotate, nor colour rotate, nor palette edit ... and something goes wrong (tm) if you zoom too far ... but what is implemented works as expected :-)

Although the Fractals app has an excellent concept, the overall execution seems to be flawed. Upon zooming in to see other fractal shapes, the image becomes distored and stretched quite far. This creates the illusion of horizontal lines and nothing of relation to a true fractal. Alongside, the imagery is pixelated and not so easy on the eyes. I appreciate the concept, however, there are major critical errors that I just cannot get passed.

Now THAT is a nice app! Lets you explore the fractal (and change the colors on the fly) without knowing the math, then keep or share the results. Looking forward to the other fractal types, and Thanks So Much!

An incredible beginning! Fantastic job! The picture skews when I start the program and then auto rotate it. Double tap to zoom in would be splendid.
