I've tried several apps but none were dependable until I got this one. It's so easy to use and works perfectly, each and every time on all the apps I've set it up to work on. I like it so much and intend to keep it so I donated to help with future apps from these same folks. Thank you for something so simple and yet so effective! Exactly what I needed!

A simple app but a huge help. When it works, it does it's job flawlessly. However, there appears to be a bug that will stop it from working even when I manually turn it on. For example, I set up for it to turn on automatically for certain apps in use and it will just disappear like I turned it off when I am still using the app. The on icon will disappear. On moto x 2nd generation edit: was hoping for an update to fix it's lack of staying awake but it hasn't happened

I absolutely love it, bit having changed my phone to a Pixel recently it doesn't seem to like 7.1 with the notification. In the drop down, it cuts off half the notification making it hard to activate. I can send a screenshot of it would help trouble shoot. Thanks again for this great app. Please let me share a screenshot to show this problem, it's very annoying and stopping me from using the app!

Does what it says and does it well. Doesn't glitch or use unnecessary battery power. Very happy with it! ----------- I wrote the above review over two years ago, and it still applies. This is the one application that I've used on every Droid I've had - Almost ten over a six year time span - and it has worked perfectly on every single one. Every update only makes it better, and it has NEVER force closed or glitched for me.

I love this app, but when my Samsung s7 phone with at&t upgraded to android 7.0/nougat, it started having issues. It doesn't keep the screen on anymore with the apps I've selected. I'm unsure what do to. Will fix rating when this is sorted. :) Keep being great, guys!

I needed caffeine to basically save energy by downloading big portions of data on one of the slow rapidshare like services that limit your speed drastically on my phone. It kept my phone alive even with the screen off, downloaded over night and prevented me from keeping my costly and loud pc on instead. Thank you for this.

Great for Android X86 PC! I try this app on my computer running android x86 4.4 r1 and it works well for me! I don't recommand this app for smartphone and tablets since overheating and battery drain on most devices but i recommand this app for android x86 running on PC or laptop.

I was hoping someone came up with a solution to Android's flaws regarding this matter. I use it so that when I charge my phone wirelessly using inductive magnetic charging in its cradle, it does not sleep anymore! Better yet, there is an option do not dim the screen which even using developer mode for Android you cannot escape without caffeine! This app fixes both problems instantly. And you don't have to root your phone! Great job!

This app works sometimes and doesn't at times. I love the functionality and appearance, simple and effective, but it really needs an update to fix issues with later versions of Android. I used it for Pokémon Go, but if I opened my notification panel, it would disable caffeine on pogo. I assume this is because it thinks the notication panel is the active app and caffeine doesn't switch back to on when you close the panel. It was especially hit or miss while connected to a Bluetooth audio device. This is really frustrating when listening to music in the car with pogo running, then caffeine turns off, screen goes off and then the music blasts.

It used to work fine. Since the Android 7 release on my Xiaomi MI5S it doesn't work any more. It shows "active" but the screen still turns off. Any idea how to fix this?

Absolutely Works! Works perfectly on a S7 Edge .. go ahead buy the Developer a cup of joe! Reducing the rating due to the apparent abandonment of the app. No updates since 2014 .. really?

I had excellent results with this app on Android 6 (Marshmallow), however on Android 7 (Nougat) it seems to be fairly unreliable. It almost never activates automatically when it is supposed to and when it is active it allows android to close it for no apparent reason. I hope that there is an update forthcoming to address these issues.

My primary reason for installing this was to keep Google Maps awake and it is the one app that Caffeine works the worst with. It will detect it when I first open it but if I perform another action and come back to maps, the caffeine detection creates to work. I have to exit the app completely and reopen it. There hasn't been an update in ages, so I'm wondering if it's even being developed anymore. My phone is the Pixel btw.

I used this app on an old phone and it was great! Now I've gotten a newer phone running Android Nougat, and while the app still technically works, the caffeine icon in the pull down notification bar is half hidden and is very ugly and seems a bit obscured so it takes some getting used to in order to recognize that is the app.

Good app. I got Caffeine to keep the screen awake when watching videos. It does the job well. I hope the dev adds an option to switch off the persistent notification. Worth the requested donation.

Installed this app and my tablet went into a perpetual loop. It kept waking up and doing a weird half boot. Never giving me enough time to turn off the app or uninstall. Finally had to do a hard shutdown and after restart was able to uninstall.

Not a single one of these apps I've tried has been able to handle app detection reliably. This one works about 10% of the time, and the rest of the time it either doesn't work at all, or comes on for about a second after the app is launched and then goes away. All it's good for is manual operation via the notification bar switch. I wish the geniuses at Google would just integrate this functionality onto the OS already.

Keeping the screen awake when an app is running or under other conditions isn't too complicated but somehow every other app I found had an oddly restricted feature set and a sloppy UI. Not to mention they didn't seem to work if the app wasn't in the foreground. This app is fully featured, implements everything as flexibly and cleanly as possible, and has a much nicer UI than other products. Not as objectively the name is also a decent choice, other apps had worse branding than UI.

Works pretty well. Sometimes doesn't auto switch on when the app I told it to switch on with is brought back into focus. Also does not prevent me from pressing the power button and locking the screen which I'd really like to see added. Apparently it's supposed to do this already?

I've been using this app for probably a couple years now if not longer, at least since the Nexus 5. It has worked pretty well, the notification bar toggle is inconsistent, but useful when it does work. I have found the widget is very responsive and works great. I did notice in Nougat the icon when you pull down the notification bar is partially hidden by the title and it's extremely ugly.

After I close an app, device status on unless I manually shut off the screen. Killed my battery several times. Worked great on my galaxy S4 jelly bean. Not so great on my note 4 5.1.1

Just love it as it was exactly what I wanted to find. It is detecting specific apps and working fabulously as I set to. Very light too. Small donation for the developer was done quickly for showing how much I appreciate this app. Please keep this one nicely! Have witnessed so many awesome apps turned to rubbish at the end. X

I admittedly downloaded this app for a single game (Adventure Time Puzzle Quest) but it auto detects that app and keeps the screen on every time. I am a limited user but it works flawlessly for me. No complaints.

So far, so good. I installed this about a week ago, and it occasionally forgets it's activated, but otherwise seems to work on my Galaxy J7 with Android 6.0.1. The only thing is, with the caffeine icon in the upper-right-hand corner and preconfigured to activate and deactivate, I don't really need the constant item in notifications, and would like to be able to turn that off.

The only problem I have with the application is the fact it tends to not keep up with the settings you may have given it to keep certain apps awake. Other than that, great app!

I used to love this ap but for the past few weeks it's been acting very buggy. I thought it may have been due to an update but then I noticed there hasn't been an update since OCT 2014. HHHMMM..could be the problem, ya think??

Generally the app works well enough, and properly detects PokemonGO fairly reliably. I don't use it with anything else so I can't comment. The only issue I have is a minor cosmetic issue where the notification text is cut off in my notification drawer. It's actually pretty frustrating having an ugly cutoff notification at the top of my list at all times :p

This has app specific controls. Keep your phone from timing out during your game in hand or pocket without manually changing system timeout settings. Using Galaxy S5.

It often turns itself off at random times and has to be manually activated again. I often make sure to turn it on before going out for a walk, only to realise that sometime during my walk it's gone off again. Feels rather unreliable on the go.

I've been using this app for a couple weeks & really like the interface - much better than others I have used. It works consistently & has not crashed or caused any other programmatical issues. Other apps like this were inconsistent in recognizing apps running, but Caffeine has worked every time for me. I originally thought it was causing a battery hit, but have since discovered that it was the Google Photos app in conjunction with a large number of JPG/MP3 files (thanks GSam!). The only reason I have left off one star is that you are unable to have Caffeine run only when you're on AC power & not on battery. I love to have the screen stay on for audio apps when plugged in - such as in my car - but don't want them on when on battery - such as when walking or around the house. Add this feature and it is a definite 5 star!

Amazing app, works as intended only one small thing is that if the activate button in the pull down notifications wasn't there then it'd be the perfect app. P.s. best app for Pokemon Go

Caffeine still does the magic it does perfectly, but the notification on Nougat is jacked. Fix this for extra stars!

Great, simple tool, and even better now that it can be set to auto activate for chosen applications. Update - Broken in Nougat.

Simple and effective. The only downside (using S7) is that the backlight of back and recent buttons always on. It's annoying.
