Goochem

Goochem is een app voor je mobiele telefoon waarmee je informatie kunt krijgen over wat er 'hier en nu' gebeurt. Je krijgt die informatie van mensen (die Goochem ook gebruiken) in je nabije omgeving. Als je ergens bent waar iets aan de hand is maar je weet niet precies wat, kun je het mondeling rondvragen aan mensen die er zijn. Met Goochem kun je het nu rondvragen aan mensen in een straal van 250 meter om je heen. Zo weet je altijd waarom je bijvoorbeeld in de file staat, waarom de tram stilstaat en of anderen ook zo'n verdachte gaslucht ruiken.


Goochem is er niet voor om vragen te stellen die al lang en breed bekend is. Daarvoor heb je andere media (zoals bijvoorbeeld Wikipedia). Het verschilt ook van Twitter, Facebook, #durftevragen of andere social media. In die social media kun je vragen stellen aan je eigen vrienden, kennissen of zakenrelaties of aan een groot anoniem publiek dat zich overal kan bevinden. Maar die weten meestal niet wat er vlakbij jou gebeurt.
Met Goochem raadpleeg je andere Goochem-gebruikers rondom de lokatie waar jij je bevindt: voorbijgangers die je niet van tevoren hoeft te kennen en waar je nog geen relatie mee hebt. Die voorbijgangers kunnen jouw wel op het moment zelf voorzien van informatie over de situatie waarin jij je bevindt. Vragen die je kunt stellen zijn bijvoorbeeld: "Waarom staat lijn 8 stil?" Iemand die een tiental meters verderop staat en de oorzaak ziet, kan je als antwoord geven: "Een vrachtwagen die staat uit te laden blokkeert de weg". Met Goochem krijg je dus informatie over wat er hier en nu gebeurt.

De data die door Goochem-gebruikers wordt voortgebracht, kan ook worden benut om op stedelijk niveau te ontdekken wat er speelt in de stad. Op die manier kan real-time informatie over gebeurtenissen in de stad worden gerelateerd aan andere informatie (open data) zoals het weer of verkeersinformatie.
Daarnaast kan Goochem worden gebruikt om een 'poll' (klein onderzoekje) in de buurt te doen. Als je bijvoorbeeld een verdachte gaslucht ruikt, kun je met Goochem eenvoudig om je heen vragen of andere dan ook ruiken. Zo kun je dan met zijn allen sneller een gaslek constateren en de autoriteiten waarschuwen. Goochem maakt het dus mogelijk snel de handen ineen te slaan en akte te ondernemen.
