About Simpletask Cloudless

The evolution of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.mpcjanssen.todotxtholo&hl=en

A simple task list manager that strives to have just enough features to do GTD, but no more. Based on the todo.txt app so a todo.txt file (http://todotxt.com).

Sync your list the way you want or only keep it on your device.

Instead of including all kinds of cloud providers, the app will put your todo list on internal storage in ./data/nl.mpcjanssen.simpletask. You can the use external applications such as Foldersync or Bittorrent sync to sync to a large collection of cloud offerings or own machines.

If you use any cloud service to sync, the task list will be reloaded if the todo.txt file is updated in the background.

With the new sorting options it can also be used for MYN/1MTD. See the screenshots for an example of how to use it for MYN.

Features
- True to GTD without unecessary bells and whistles
- Todo list stored in the todo.txt format
- Comprehensive filtering and multi sort
- Quickly filter tasks using the left navigation drawer
- Save common filters in right navigation drawer
- Create calendar reminders for specific tasks directly from the app
- Share the complete tasklist or selected tasks using the Android share feature
- Tasks can deferred into the future. Combined with the "Show future tasks" filter it allows you to get tasks out of your face (as in 1MTD/MYN)

Very useful app.

Great todo.txt implementation. Perfect for what I needed, EXCEPT: Why the hell does it add an extra newline at the end of your todo.txt file? Any time you mark a task as complete or add a new one, it adds this extra line. I tried every setting and still it does this. I was using FolderSync to keep this up-to-date with my primary todo.txt on my shell at work, and this causes blank lines between every task added there (unless you manually remove them first). This was the only app I found that did what I wanted, except for this one issue, and it's a dealbreaker for me. The only way I've found to get around it is to write a script to detect and remove these blank lines and run it every time I know Simpletask has added them. Way too much hassle just to have my todo list on my phone. So unfortunate. This app was perfect, otherwise...

Excellent program. Perfect task management and todo list app. By far the best todo.txt (GTD) app. Love the cloudless aspect. Extremely well thought out by its developer. Can be as simple or as complex is one needs it to be. Unbelievable program. A mainstay in both my personal and professional lives. Can not say enough..... just Thank you, Thank You Mark....! !!!!!

This app is awesome. I use it with Syncthing to keep track of all my tasks and have them synced between my computer and my mobile devices, without the cloud (because the cloud, of course, is just somebody else's computer--and why do I want somebody else to have access to my tasks?). Its system supports any methodology (GTD, Covey, etc.), so you can use it for context or priority based tasks. The interface is clean and makes sense. It has widgets so you can keep certain lists on your home screen for quick access. This is a fantastic app. Highly recommended!

I was using "Automate" together with "Web alert" to create some automated tasks (automatically checks when bills are ready). This app does great job with automation apps! Thanks! It's the only app from dozen todo apps that really works the way I want! :)

Great for GTD without having a data connection such as remote areas. Simple interface and with the right file management app, you can back up your data when you do have a data connection.

I use syncthing to keep my todo.txt synced across a ton of devices. This is by far the best, simplest todo I have ever used.

Great, just what I wanted. I use it with Syncthing to keep my todo.txt file on all my devices. Cosmetically, It could do with improvements (like tiny lines in between the tasks) but am happy so far. Keep up the great work!

Everything I could want in a to-do app! Goes great with the spirit of todo.txt.

Simple, intuitive. Thank you.

I really love this app. Switched to it from Wunderlist when I discovered sync tools like Syncthing. File changes are instantaneous and the todo.txt format is great. Sometimes the app fails to scan changes in the file and refresh the list, but I feel that that isn't a dealbreaker, so I'm giving it a 5. Would be nice to have a "Refresh" button that rescans the app at will though.

close button issue: while updating or editing task, if you press close(X) button at the top left, it doesn't clear the text contents. so everytime you choose another task and press pen icon to update, it appends all of the tasks on add/update screen... pressing the back button works perfectly.

Q70%

Excellent - - exactly what I was looking for! Using Syncthing to sync between phone, tablet, and Linux server. Also using todotxt-cli on Linux box, which is awesome!

After a years long odyssee looking for the perfect task management app I finally found home. Thank you.

Bug Introduced: Confirmation dialogue doesn't appear while archiving done tasks.

N70%
by N####:

Promising beginning, very quick to get going, but then found that everything was always in task order, not date, not list, sort page achieved nothing.

N70%
by N####:

I know it may not be in the scope of the app (simplicity) but I would like to have the ability to link to local files and / or images, clickable in the task (maybe even with a thumbnail?!). I use this mainly for the fact that it generates a plain text file that is easy to manipulate with Tasker, some integration with Tasker would be welcome also!

S70%
by S####:

Using syncthing, if remote updates file, widget and app are not updated automatically. Force close is required unfortunately.

S70%

I like the cloudless aspect as I use Syncthing. In many ways exactly what I was looking for, but too convoluted and without useful Help documentation.

Very nice mobile front-end for todo.txt (and todo.sh CLI tool). Supports all major concepts from todo.txt. Solid development and support on top of that basis! My compliments go to its developer: Mark Janssen!

Superb App. Author is doing nice job by improving and updating the App frequently. Keep it up, Mark Janssen.

Option to reduce font size in widget would be good. How about a method to group + and @ tags in some way in left flyout e.g by first letter or even by prefix such as person-jim person-jack. Would keep to the todo.txt convention but allow an extra layer of tag organisation. Note Jul 2016: filter by search seriously bust in latest update. It seems to be looking at individual letters I.e a search for hgfd would find this review.

S70%
by S####:

The app is very useful! Thanks Mark! Have a suggestion: When a new task is being typed, there are five options below on the blue bar to add a 'list', 'tag', 'priority', 'due' and 'threshold'. Could you also include the 'Add a reminder' option here? Currently, I have to first create the task and then go back to list of tasks to find my newly added task to add a reminder. Also, could you provide a marker to all the tasks that have a reminder added to them? Because Google Calender does not have a 'search' functionality to search for tasks added to it.

Awesome. Great looking app. Now I can edit my todo.txt with vim on my desktop and this app on my phone. Bittorrent Sync keeps them synced.

Best todo app I have found so far. It has allowed me to try different task systems and develop my own. Its option for custom filters is really powerful. Clean interface, fast (although I usually have less than 40 active entries), with a useful widget. To top it off, it is open source; I have to thank the developer for sharing this great work.

Todo.txt format + easy-to-customise filtering + let's me handle syncing = an ideal to do list / task manager

Have tried many to do / task / GTD type systems and for me this is the best and most flexible. Excellent widget. Synced with owncloud.

Font size "Huge" ruins the display. Would be great if there were different font size options for list and UI.

I like this app, great work. I would really like checkboxes to be in the Widget too please. That would be an excellent time saving feature. Let me know if you plan to implement this feature any time soon. Thanks
