Tegenwind

Met één tik berekent de app hoe laat je thuis bent en stuurt automatisch een bericht naar een contactpersoon.

Een voorbeeld van zo'n bericht: Ik arriveer over 34 minuten (om 12:39). Het is 3 graden, regen en windkracht 3. Ik ga het niet droog houden.

De app werkt als volgt:

Voer het adres van je thuisbasis in. Doorgaans waar je woont.
Voer het telefoonnummer in van je thuisbasis. Bijvoorbeeld je vriendin.

Zodra je deze gegevens eenmalig hebt ingevoerd zal de app gaan berekenen hoe laat je thuis bent vanaf je huidige locatie. Als je een telefoonnummer hebt ingevoerd kun je automatisch een bericht versturen naar dit nummer.

Uiteraard krijg je zelf ook informatie over je aankomsttijd, wind en buien.

De app heeft (behalve het initiële invoerscherm) geen user interface omdat het doel is om zoveel mogelijk te automatiseren. Je kunt de app heel makkelijk opstarten vanuit een shortcut op je home screen of koppelen aan een app zoals Trigger.

De weersomstandigheden worden bepaald op basis van de gegevens van weerstations van knmi.nl en buienradar.nl. Het weerstation wordt gekozen op basis van je locatie. Het dichtstbijzijnde weerstation voorziet de weermetingen. In Utrecht is bijvoorbeeld De Bilt. De afstand naar je bestemming wordt bepaald op basis van Google Maps. Deze heeft sinds kort een optie om fiets als vervoersmiddel te kiezen. De fietsroutes van Google zijn behoorlijk goed omdat de fietspaden goed in kaart zijn gebracht in Nederland. De hoek van je startpunt naar je bestemming wordt vergeleken met de windrichting en op basis daarvan wordt een windimpact berekend. Deze wordt omgerekend naar een tijdimpact om vervolgens de duur van de rit accuraat te voorspellen. Als basis wordt een gemiddelde snelheid genomen. De ervaring leert dat deze methode betrouwbaarder is dan bijvoorbeeld de tijdinschatting van Google.

The app works as follows:

Enter the address of your home base. Usually where you live.
Enter the phone number of your home. For example your girlfriend.

Once you have entered this information once the app will calculate what time you get home from your current location. If you have entered a phone number you can automatically send a message to this number.

Obviously you get through information about your arrival time, wind and rain.

The application has (except for the initial input screen) not have a user interface because the aim is to automate much as possible. You can easily start the app from a shortcut on your home screen or link to an app like Trigger.

The weather conditions are determined on the basis of data from weather stations and knmi.nl buienradar.nl. The weather station will be chosen based on your location. The nearest weather station provides weather readings. In Utrecht, for example, De Bilt. The distance to your destination is based on Google Maps. This has an option to choose. Bike transport as recently The routes from Google are pretty good because the paths are placed in the Netherlands. Erly The angle of your starting point to your destination is compared to the wind and on the basis of a wind impact calculated. This is converted to a time impact then the duration of the ride to predict accurately. As a basis, an average speed taken. Experience shows that this method is more reliable than, say, the time estimate from Google.
