Speech Assistant AAC

So far among many AAC I have tried. This is the most useful app. It is very convenient when I go to doctors appointments as I can create personal phrases to relay to providers regarding my health. It can use some updates. I wish I can use it as a keyboard that would speak what I typed so I can video chat with out having to switch screens. That would be awesome! Thank you for making this app. Keep up the good work.

A good app for most people. but hard for people like me with motor neurone disease hope they can be improvements for this disease using Google keyboard is impossible with my hands needs section with big keys to make sort sentences up

Brilliant -I have no voice and use this app everyday. By putting through external speaker can even have slow telephone conversations. Pre prepared phases easily edited and personalised.

This is an amazing app. I've used it for a couple years now, and try to update my review occasionally to keep it fresh and hope people see this rather than the unfair reviews from individuals blaming their device's crappy voice on this app (read the app description: text to speech voices on Android are set in the system settings, not by one app, so the app will use whatever your device is set to use). My mom is an SLP, so I'm well aware of other AAC options (some costing thousands of dollars), and this one is absolutely the best for me. I have aphasia and muscle weakness (plus transient paralysis) affecting my jaw/mouth muscles, so this app is a lifesaver, especially when I cannot speak at all. The developer is extremely responsive and frequently adds new features, making an already awesome app even better. If you have difficulty speaking and are able to read/type, get this app. You won't be sorry.

Can't get this app to work on my mom's Samsung Galaxy s5. It won't work during phone calls which is when due needs it most.

Compares very well and with more expensive approaches. User friendly.

I thought this was a good app, I only wish you could use it while using a Skype video call, you can use it for Skype messaging though so atleast there is that.

Sometimes I can't communicate because I'm autistic. This helps me get speech across whenever talking is difficult or whenever I'm upset. What's included in an upgrade?

I have Hemiplegic migraine headaches and I can't talk when I'm having one. This app has truly been a blessing when I have a Hemiplegic migraine headache.

I am non verbal and it has stopped playing any sound when i get it to speak tried force stopping and everything usless ot well back to my chuncky dynavox ....

Can't figure out how to add catagories or move words from one catagories to another. It would be such a useful app for my husband who has aphrasia if I could do that.

Dad has MND and cant talk. This app is really great for him. He doesn't want to use the text-to-speech features. He just want to type a message and show people - this app has a "show" button which makes the typed text switch to full screen so he can show us on his tablet and we can see it clear across the room. We have tried Predictable from Therapy Box. It may have the potential to do more than Speech Assistant, but if you're not using a voice bank or jelly/rocker switch, its a lot of money to pay - £100 upwards - for an app that does the same as Speech Assistant but DOESN'T have the "show" function.

FIVE STARS!!! This is the best AAC app for those who are nonverbal & learning to type to speak. I have tried many apps, both paid and free, and this one is worlds above the rest! My child had a stroke, is autistic and is not only nonverbal but also visually impaired so the speak character option is perfect for letting her know she has pressed the correct key. The ability to use a USB keyboard, set shortcuts & option to prevent double tapping addresses motor control issues. Custom options to enlarge the display, text, set colors, button & common phrases are invaluable as well. Being able to save the profile allows me to easily transfer app settings & changes to her school tablet. Thanks to this app my child will finally have a voice!

Adding categories and vocabulary is so easy. I would love to know if there is a way to reorganize buttons within the category, say by frequency.

easy to use and gives you the option to create and save phrases and direct speech .you may wish to purchase different voices .also has full screen mode which allows you just to show what is written down. due to operation i am no longer to speak clearly so I find it a useful tool loaded on phone . to use this app you need a basic ability to read and type but and would recommend a simpler app with pictures for the more seriously diabled

I love this app, I had throat cancer which unfortunately took away my ability to speak ever again. They had to remove my tongue, vocal cords, voice box and had to totally reconstruct my throat using my chest muscle. This app is used by me on a daily basis for everything i need a voice for. At first I had to use pen and paper but that was for people who are right in front of me, to get someone's attention i used a bell. This app saved my life.

This is an amazing app. I have raved about it to friends suffering from the same or similar conditions to what I have, and many have found it helpful as well. I've tried nearly every AAC app on the market, and this one is worlds above the rest. The keyboard controls are a *huge* plus. I have a condition that, aside from speech issues, causes muscle fatigue and intense pain with any movement at all, and this app allows me to control everything without moving my hands from the keyboard, reducing pain and saving precious muscle reserves. The developer is very responsive, and clearly dedicated to routinely updating the app with even more helpful features. This app alone meets my particular needs better than anything else on the market could (including separate devices like Dynavox). My mom is an SLP, so I know very well what other devices are capable of. I could even have gotten a Dynavox for free - and for some, that's the best option. For me, though, this is the best. I've gladly purchased the full version, and would encourage others to do the same. The app functions fine without it, but what's a few dollars to reward the developer who gave me my voice back? I. Love. This. App.
