I've owned this for about a year. Absolutely superior to everything else I've tried. This is one of very few apps I've thought enough of to pay for. Works flawlessly, and the nicest interface ever. Color, icons, menu layout... Beautiful! Update 1/12/2018: Sideloaded to Nexus Player, unfortunately doesn't work with standard remote, as the "other" most popular, and most annoying file explorer does. Time to invest in an air mouse for the bedroom TV. Sure would like to see an Android TV version of this apk!

I gave up on ES a long time ago when it become just another advertising app. This is the best of the alternatives I've tried. No ads, no information collected at all, clean customisable UI and all the functions I need. A developer producing an app like this deserves supporting. I had no hesitation in paying for premium.

Dark theme. Great performance. Transfers well over wifi. Love FX. Colors, features, feel, everything the Best. ...Update; here it comes. Fugly "Free" Icon, and if you update you lose cloud features that were free before. Bait and switch has arrived at FX. My review has been five stars since you were in beta. Now you lose stars for an update that removes features. You don't have that information in the changelog.

I used to use ES File Explorer, and I used to think that it was the best there was. Then I found FX. FX is great. It can do most of the things ES could without the ads, pestering, and privacy issues. It also does things that ES wouldn't do, like show folder sizes! With FX Plus, FX can do even more! I'm definitely considering getting FX Plus when my trial ends. My only problem with FX is a big one, which I hope they fix soon: The built-in image viewer doesn't play GIF images--it only shows the first frame!

This app is fantastic but one serious bug in it is whenever you plug keyboard into your phone while using FX TextEdit everything vanishes and there's no way it can recovered. It starts a new file and everything single thing you've typed is gone forever. It happened to me when I was writing an essay and kaboom I plugged keyboard and everything gone in a second.

I love this app. It does everything you want in a file manager: connects with Dropbox and Google Drive, transfer files by sftp, allows one device to manipulate files on another device of yours, allows multiple tabs for easy navigation. And now they've made a way to set individual default sorting-orders for any directory. This had previously been my only complaint, that the current sort-order setting became the default sort-order for any directory you viewed thereafter. But now my Downloads folder sorts by "most recent" even though my Documents folder sorts by "name".

very very good application

Misleading! Free version is extremely limited. It has no network capabilities - only local storage. That's OK but not disclosed upfront. App seems reasonably well designed but was not able to fully test before free trial expired. Bottom line - there are much better free full featured file manager apps.

Great work!! BUT.... Please sort out USB OTG recognition and this will be 5 star, until then... Pretty annoying having to use ES or another file manager every time a USB stick is in play. I have 5 other apps that recognise it, just not yours, thanks

There are so many excellent file managers available for download from the Play Store. Suffice it to say that FX File Explorer is very close to the top of the list. My only lament is that FX does not recognize mov files. When FX is used to identify video files, mov video files are absent from the list even with the FX Plus Upgrade installed. Perhaps a future update might address this.

I liked this app and most likely will purchase it later on. Reason for low rating is because I wasted my time downloading and installing. I needed to copy from a Windows NAS and SMB support is listed without saying it is an FX+ feature only. More clarity would be appreciated. I most likely will modify if when I have FX+

Still unable to add Dropbox account. No response from developer. Dropping review score accordingly. Unable to add a Dropbox account. Awaiting feedback from an email to developer. Other than that issue it appears to be a solid app. Found a fix (without developer help). It seems that you need the Dropbox app installed in order to be able to add a Dropbox account permission to the file explorer app. Once added you can uninstall Dropbox.

From Android 6x onwards, this app does not allow to move pictures, videos, etc. to external media without root access!?! The normal Samsung folder tool can do this without a hiccup. Real pity that this file/folder manager has become so useless!!!

P70%
by P####:

It's really good and worth it! The only problem I'd have is that the picture viewer doesn't play Gifs. Other than that it works wonders! Much better then the one my phone has preinstalled which I can't remove. Also can the new "sort by" menu be removed? Or maybe made so I can turn it off to the old setting and on if I want it to be there?

O70%
by O####:

I really liked this app until today. I can't find anywhere to unzip a zip file. I visited the xda thread for it and searched for unzip. The only recent one I found wanted something in the menu to unzip instead of a long press I've tried both and don't see a way to unzip. I had to use Root Explorer instead. Am I really that stupid?

I paid for the app, because it's the most optimized app for low spec phones. However, I have problem getting the FX Connect to work on my Asus Transformer TF101. I hope this is resolved soon. Thank you

Absolutely awesome app... Extremely useful in my department and management. Love the no ads philosophy, which I acquired the paid version mainly as a result of this (the extras that come with this is a useful complement to my arsenal of tools. There's only one way to do a job, andthat's the right way. Keep up the good work!!! Thanks for the contribution,

Claims to be annoyance free, but all the good features are hidden behind a paid Pro version that you are automatically given a free 7 day trial for upon installation. Paid features are fine, but be upfront about it; not 7 days after users install it.

advertises that it is free, no ads, smbv2 support, no annoyances just to get you to download it. then you download it and find network support and pretty much anything not included with the android file manager locked behind a paywall. annoying.

I have used FX for several years and generally like it a lot. However, it does not seem to support USB flash drives plugged into the USB C port of my Pixel. It just does not see them at all while Google's much clumsier file explorer sees them and can read and write files to flash drives attached through the USB C port. With USB C support, it would be 5 stars.

Does a great job. I've been using this file manager for years. Once in a while I've tried another, but none measure up. A couple suggestions: Cut/copy/paste is a pain when you have duplicate files. You can overwrite or cancel the whole thing, but not compare and choose on a per file basis, nor rename pasted files to preserve, or even proceed and skip the name conflicted files. In a big operation, this can be very annoying. I wish file type configuration was a little more complete. It inherits everything from Android, but there are times I want to open a file with some other app.

Even with the new updates zooming on images still a pretty bad experience, just too sensitive! Developer does not respond and updates/improvements are far and few. Stick with Solid Explorer, way better than this.

C70%
by C####:

Just a simple internal file browser. No network access what makes it pretty much useless. You need paid version to do normal things.

C70%
by C####:

Possibly the best file explorer for android. It is very fast and responsive. The ui looks good and polished. Lastly, having no ads is the best as you can instantly access your file and no ads taking up some space on the screen.

C70%
by C####:

Careful with using their zip for unpacking. For some reason it wiped out my sd card after a failure to unpack.

C70%
by C####:

Paid for the app to use the cloud integration. Keeps giving error messages for OneDrive because it seems that it cannot handle folders with many files. Contacted support twice but still haven't received an answer after several weeks. I much regret having paid for it. Conclusion: Don't expect any support, don't bother using when you need larger cloud drive folders. Other than that, it's an ok explorer app. Stick with the free version, though.

Unusable for me until it includes a good "move" function. It's dangerous & highly undesirable to me to merely cut/copy & paste my files to move them - to easy for something to get deleted, lost, misplaced. Othewise I greatly prefer its beautiful, mostly friendly UI & speed. Seems a bit hard to find things in here, but if I explore I quickly figure it out & get used to it. For now, uninstalled - will keep checking back & hoping it gets a good move files function. Nice app.

This app is the only free file browser that has no ads and tile view. It just makes sorting things a breeze.

This explorer is absolutely brilliant. The only debatable facet is the design, and it is very polished, if not for everyone. But for a no-ads application, I'm not complaining.

I have purchased FX plus license key for Fx File Explorer from Google play store. Now in the Fx Explorer it still shows the mexu to upgade Fx plus. While clicking on upgrade icon it shows Fx plus is already installed. However, in google play it still gives me cost and not allowing to download even though I have purchased the application, which should not be the case as per my understanding. After my complain I was informed, I will get back the payment to purchase add on option if I wish. Now my payment is not reverted back to me and my purchase is also canceled.. Strange... What to do? No body is responding.

bad: overwritten my sd card without warning me that my file is too large for the storage space left. good: transparent theme

This is the best file manager and root explorer..period. That's all, no crazy ads , no begging for personal info. Can handle different file formats... What more.. This is the best.

C70%
by C####:

The more I use this (and it's several times a day, everyday) the more I find it's an brilliant app. Stable. Easy. And does everything quickly. I'm a root user so it's got everything I need. For work it's proved invaluable. Provides access detailed info on everything on your phone. If you have root, it's incredibly useful. Straightforward. Great app.

Just fabulous!! One of the best file explorer app in android. Far better than most of the other file explorers with annoying ad's. Please maintain this quality & standard always.

In order to access Dropbox or Network files you must upgrade to the Plus version. However, it does look pretty. Using the free version, cannot select files and move to SD Card. So, buyer beware.

M70%
by M####:

This file manager may be moved to SDcard and has a two panels split mode, which can be useful, but it lacks share functionality (can't save/share files produced by other programs), it doesn't have options for start-up default directories, bookmarks and other options to speed up usage. I also miss option for non-user-friendly file sizes (raw bytes, instead of kB/MB/GB etc. units).

C70%
by C####:

Nice UI and powerful. No ads. I've been a long time user and finally bought the Plus version. Though, I think the transitions between folders can be more fluid.

M70%
by M####:

This app requires the Full Control Share Permission to write to a network Windows share. The Change Share Permission is the permission that is required required by Windows and some other (less awesome) apps. Can we get this fixed? Rated one star to attract the attention of Dev.

C70%

Way better that that other one that bloats. This is a lean mean and very usable app - never had any trouble and always gets better. Recommended!
