• Identify using up to 8 high resolution images per plant
• Add your own notes
• West coast specific plants from Becky Lerner and Christopher Nyerges
• New cultivation information helps wild plants stay forgeable year after year
• The same identification, harvesting, preparation, and recipes from the "Wildman" you've already learned, plus 50 more!

Now your favorite foraging reference and identification tool has a sleek new interface and even more content! In addition to hundreds of plants from nationally renowned forager “Wildman” Steve Brill, we are very excited to announce contributions from west coast foragers Rebecca Lerner and Christopher Nyerges.

Wild Edibles is a massive compendium of foraging knowledge suitable for beginners and experts alike. Use this app at home as a quick reference, or in the field as a replacement for cumbersome field guides. Providing the subject's most comprehensive resource in a compact digital form, this app takes wild edible plants to a whole new level of accessibility.

**UPDATE: The image downloader feature that was causing issues for many users of Wild Edibles has been removed. Images will now download to your SDCard the first time they are accessed, rather than all at once upon installation of the app. Many apologies for any inconvenience you may have encountered with using the previous version of Wild Edibles. Happy foraging!**

The bad: Images don't load when swiped to see more. Sometimes they do, but rarely. The UI is clunky and weird, this would be much better if it was just a standard off-the-shelf material design implementation. The good: - The information within this app is incredible, unparallelled. - The creator of it has found a new developer and is pushing forward with a much better version for all of us.

I was very impressed with this app until I got a new phone and it does just like the other bad reviews stated. Won't download the pictures, and keeps stopping. Some compatibility issues with the newer Android versions.. Please get it straightened out.

I'm upgrading my rating from a 2 to a 4 due to some improvements in the functioning of the App. The content information provided by Steve Brill is excellent, but the images download function still has serious problems as of 10-12-17. First, despite what the App description claims, it actually places the images on the internal phone memory, NOT on the microSD card. (I experienced this with 2 different brand phones.) If you can't spare tying up 2.38 GB of your phone's internal memory for the images, I would strongly hesitate purchasing this App as it currently is. Second, downloading is a total pain with this App (buggy). Expect to clear the image folders and re-attempt image downloading several times before it will successfully get all the images loaded. I now finally have a fully functioning App thanks to a high internal memory phone and probably 10 or more image download attempts. Be persistent.

I have tried and tried to load the images, to no avail. I've now given up. Books don't let you down!

Having the same problem as the other 2 images downloading but don't. Says it's done opens and outputs download images. Fix please.

I just bought this app almost 2 hours ago and every time i open it it says "the main images for this app are currently downloading.Wait for just a little longer-- you'll get a notification in your toolbar when they'tr ready" so how long exactly does it take this app to work ? I am giving this 1 star and if it ever starts to work i will redo my review if I don't decide to just request a refund ..... It is very disappointing as i got the lite version and was so impressed that i bought the full version but so far seems to be a rip off.

Even though it says that they fixed the image downloading problem, it still exists. Every time I open the app it demands that I download the images. Once download is complete, I open the app and there are still no images and it asks the same thing! I just wasted $5 on an app that does not work!

So the drawing of the currant isn't really all that good and even though he mentions a glossary (non-existant) and some plants only seem to have 1 picture, though you can scroll over a few more times only the comment line changes not the picture. But for all that it's still better than lugging a book around. I didn't have any problems with the pictures, downloaded quick and they look good.

Can't use in the field as I can't select the "bulk image downloader" in the latest app revision on my LG phone with Android version 4.4 (kitkat). Using the menu as instructed only provides me with a search box and selection of plants by region or contributing author, but not the "my notes", "general info about foraging", "glossary", or "settings" features. There appears to be no way to scroll down on the menu to get to the "download" selection so I can save all the images to my SD card and see them when WiFi and 3D connections aren't available. I've already sent the developer several emails on this issue with no response so far. Otherwise, good app with good information. Will upgrade my rating when/if this issue is resolved for me.

Very nice app. Major improvement over the previous app. I really like the photos of the plants, really helpful with identification. Only reason keeping this from being a 5 star app is that additional photos require data or WiFi connection which may pose a problem if camping or in remote areas. Edit: Realized I can download all the photos or preload the app with photos of the plants I am interested in looking for. Changed to 5 stars!

This has been a very useful app when you are stuck identifying a plant. I have used it many times. It is easy to use and might even save someone's life if they have no other food sources. The variety of plants shown is amazing.

I just updated from the free version and I am so happy that I did. It has already helped me to avoid the wrong plants and mushrooms in my first use. Thanks again!

Great app with plenty of info, though there are other common edibles in my area that seem to be missing however. Also receiving the same issue that Ian T received in regards to offline images even following an attempt to download them all. "Failed to Receive Image" when I initially selecting a plant, however swiping right to show more descriptive photos works, the primary display picture does not.

I was disappointed to find out the Southeast isn't included. So I paid $4.99 for something that doesn't help me. When will the Southeast be included? I'll change this to 5 stars when it is.

I have had no problems with this app until recently. It will no longer start. I get the splash screen, then a quick flash, then the splash screen in an unending loop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have rebooted. Nothing works.

Very descriptive but I don't really give a monkey's about contributor. Better and more useful filters would be for time of year or a basic identification filter.

Just got a new tablet which is running Android 5.1.1. Better, but still having some issues. Was able to download all the images without a hitch. However, when I go offline and click on an entry, I still get an initial blank screen with a message which reads "Failed to retrieve image". Luckily, when I swipe the screen, all the other images seem to be there. Not sure why the initial one is not loading. The images are of great quality and I really appreciate being able to zoom in on them which one can't do with many similar apps. Because of this, have upgraded my rating to 4 stars. It really is a great app. Will upgrade to 5 stars when you can resolve this issue and when you can get it working on my other tablets. Thanks.

Tried the lite version and decided to buy. Developer seems decent about improvements so I'll add my vote to including the SE region. There's lots growing 'round here!

C70%

For some reason the Southeast region is missing entirely, but you can find some of the plants from the Southeast by searching all regions. Not a complete list, by far.

The pictures only start downloading when you go to use them. For me that's in the field when I'm away from an internet connection. There should be a way to download them ahead of time but if there is it's at the bottom of a menu that won't scroll. Basicly as it is this app is unusable until all the pictures are downloaded, which has to be done one by one. I'll update this when it's fixed.

C70%
by C####:

If this app is anything like the lite version, it must be extremely informative, helpful, and easy to use. Sadly, there are problems downloading the photos and it renders the app impossible to utilize. **Edit: recent update fixed the problem and now the app is great! Thanks guys!

Great app but I don't realy like that all the recipes are vegan. I live in podunk usa. We don't have all that wierd sub crap that vegans eat instead of real food. I can figure it out but that aspect sucks. It just seem pretentious.

Originally there was an issue with the pictures which also prevented the user from getting the text, but that seems to have been fixed. It's working just fine now and has TONS of useful information. The pictures are great and the layout is pretty intuitive as well. The developer also directly responds to issues, so I'm very pleased.

I recently downloaded this app without any issues. When I opened it on my Samsung Galaxy S4, it downloaded all the pix to my SD card. Perfect! Right where I want my data so I can use it anytime, even without data signal. Loaded it onto my Pro 8 tablet, where it also works perfectly. Tons of great info, recipes, uses AND HUMOR make this a wonderful app for everyone, ESPECIALLY SURVIVALISTS, homeopaths, and MILITARY PERSONNEL. As an Army veteran, survival training is routine in the States, especially for Rangers and other Special Operations personnel. PERFECT GIFT for any soldier since they all carry their cell phones everywhere these days.
