WiGLE WiFi Wardriving for Android
Works good on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It sits in the phone holder on my dash while plugged into the charger. Scans decently @ 60MPH. Won't pick up all the points but dows get about 90% of them. I drove the same route to work for a week and by then end of the week it wasn't finding any new ones. Its intresting to see what people name their APs.... and I find it surprising that there is still some WEP and No Security APs out and about. Soon I'll be getting a Raspberry Pi with Android and Wigle installed with a higher powered Wireless card with an external antenna.
Excellent app with excellent developers that helped me get this working under marshmallow, with a Tango virtual reality phone. Ten thousand stars
Has always worked well, for years. Many useful Features. Recent Update appreciated.
DB not editable. DB not clearable
Great app. Had some hiccups uploading for a week after last update but seems to have been related to the device running out of space and I was unaware at the time. Love the app. Great that it is set to mute by default now too!
Love it. I recently upgraded to a SGS5 and had an issue of no nets detected. Fixed that problem by going into Application Manager and manually granting permission to WIGLE. Thanks dev/app team for the suggestion!
Awesome App, the team did a good job. I would like to see the option to display the entire local database on the network list. Right now it only has the current run. Outside of that it is golden.
S6 running marshmallow. Keeps saying overlay is detected and to turn it off. Will re-download when fixed. Edit: upgraded to 3 stars after problem solved and developer feedback, will update again once I've used it a few times.
Newest version works in the older version i had to manually permit it to use location and wifi if i did not do that the app would crash but it all good now
Lots of fun and you can use your database for playing with large datasets while coding. Handy!
I like this app.
It tells you what type of encryption but its not a password unmask app
Location is not accurate
Thanks for the up date. I have always loved this app.
This app is one of my favorites ????????
Best of the best! Observe like the rest!
Simple and works well.
App is currently completely non-functional on Galaxy S7
I love it! I use it every day except now that I have a new tablet it makes my tablet restart on its own for some reason ????
Almost perfect app. Can you please add Vendor to Sort options>Sort list by? To sort the wifi ap list by router Vendor i.e. Linksys or Netgear etc.
I can't login either
Works like a charm - nice default to mute
I have been WiFi mapping in Brisbane qld I have excellent result to report. For 4 years I have learned how to use wigle by trail and error learn to problem solve . I have even caught interesting data sets using wigle
Great app.
It keeps saying login failed, but I'm sure I'm using the correct password. Also, the filter options need to be improved. I want to display all open Wi-Fi, except for a certain match. That works fine, but I also want to display a WPA hotspot with a static name too. This is not possible with current filter. Also please automatically remove nonexistent open hotspots from the map.
I've already mapped out a few thousand APs. I could really get into this as a hobby when the weather warms up!
BEST WIFI FINDER FOR OPEN FREE WIFI
I love this app. The is only 2 issues I have with this app, first is that if you don't know a network that is near the area you want, you have to export to a KML file and use Google earth. I wish there was a way to see the networks from past runs on the map in the app. 2nd is that there isn't anyway to search your database for open networks, or only networks with WEP, or WPA2. Sure, again you can export and use Google Earth, but I want some way to search the database by encryption type from within the app.
I love it! I use it every day! I love watching my rank climb and helping contribute data for commercial use. I don't get anything out of it, but the fun of driving and letting my kid nap in the car. I might as well do something while driving with a sleeping kid, right?
On my S5, I was getting a screen overlay error after install. The app would start, then not display anything. After messing around with screen overlay permissions, I discovered that no permissions had been granted tot he app on install. Not sure if I had skipped that part of the install, or if the app did not fully install. After assigning correct app permissions (to wifi, phone and storage) it works as advertised.
In previous versions the file generation/export took minutes, now takes hours! on 2.3.6 and 5.1 android too. fast phone 3gb ram/octa core. What happened? 140k db. copied the wiglewifi folder from old phone to new.
"Screen overlay detected", this error message sends me to settings, but I cannot enable proper permission to allow Wigle to draw over other apps (and why should I need to, since this app worked fine for years before today?).
After updating to version 2.16 although I can still upload using the app (verified by checking my statistics directly on the website) the results do not show in the "Uploads" or "Rankings" or "User Statistics" sections of the app. That is, the app is not reflecting updated statistics gathered and seems to be broken in that regard. Tried uninstall and reinstall - the app would open but wouldn't run and displayed no information at all, until I manually set permissions relating to screen overlay. I certainly don't remember having to do that in the past. But the reinstall didn't change the problem regarding no updated statistical information, which problem persists. I'd like to revert to a working version of the app, say 2.15 which worked fine: how to do that?
This app is pretty cool.....I'm still totally unsure what it is I'm actually doing haha....but as I drive around my neighborhood it's plotting points of the wireless networks awesomely.....onto the google maps integrated in the app....seems pretty nifty....but yea, not totally sure what the point is, as most of them are secured WPA networks (which is a GOOD thing, considering I'm in an older retiree area LOL.....)..works flawless on my Galaxy J7
Use it loads for finding broke WiFi points for customers.
App is currently completely non-functional on Galaxy S7
After scanning and seeing over 1000 networks I exported the database only to find that it was empty.
I don't understand how this is rated so high.
... But I wish it can read dual Sim phone.
