ToneTap Scribe for Android
...painstakingly trying to transpose a melody in your head (w/o a keyboard...the one this app claims to have is merely a note chart w/buttons)...only to find out that youd better not turn the phone off or renavigate, b/c U CAN`T SAVE OR SHARE...wtf...seriously??
Tapping in melodies on screen works fine. But the pitch recognition was spotty for me. Detects room noise as notes too. But it has potential. Needs a noise gate on the input to reduce false notes.
After reviewing a whole bunch of these apps it seems that this one may be the best for basic transcription and melody composition. Some of the other interfaces include promising features but they are implemented badly. This app keeps it simple, which is good... I guess? Unfortunately, they've extended the simplicity to some fundamentals that you simply can't do without. NO BAR LINES? NO DOTS? Timing is everything. Give me that and I'll buy the problem version.
