Barnacle Wifi Tether

Works perfectly, albeit only after some fiddling with my computer's MTU. I'd donate if you had a special setting for the Triumph, which only does MTUs of 1472. That's only because my device is gimped, though. Not Barnacle's fault. But if Barnacle fixes, I'll donate!

Don't let the lack of 4G mention discourage you like it did me. Downloaded the app, connect USB, told my pc wireless to connect to Barnacle and PRESTO! On line! LOVE IT!!! Tried Clockworkmod first. Crappy connection. Uninstalled. Barnacle WORKS!! Samsung Stratosphere 4G on Verizon network.

AWESOME app! Worked great for me when I had to wait 2 weeks to get my cable modem. It would occasionally require me to turn off wireless and turn back on, but for the most part worked very well.

This app is apparently no longer being maintained. It used to be excellent, but it doesn't support most newer phones, e.g. those with 4g. Didn't work on my Galaxy Nexus, upgraded to an S4 and it still doesn't work. There are better apps with better support.

This is by far the best wifi hotspot app I have ever used. I have a Samsung Admire with Android 2.3.4. My service is Metro PCS. I have been using Barnacle for a week now with zero problems. It's almost too good to be true.

Running CM 10.1. AP shows up, but provides no Internet connectivity and crashes phone so hard I have to restart twice. Fix those major issues on my configuration and this would be a very nice app.

I have a rooted lg optimus f3, it keeps having errors when I try to start it. Then tells me to click the "help" option. And it didnt help at all lol. But if theres a way to make it work, I will give 5 stars. Oh and btw, im using saferoot

Works excellent. Only problem I have is after closing the app I have to reboot my phone to get it to work again. Has SuperUser access. Running it on a rooted Galaxy Prevail via Boost Mobile. Please notify me if there is a method to fix.

I have been very loyal to barnacle for awhile now. Would love to give 5 stars. However I recently upgraded to an LG gpad 7.0 and I keep getting this error message: starting... Data network is ready... .ini file prepared... Wifi driver loaded... Wifi: parameter brncl_if_lan is unset... Dhcp: parameter brncl_if_lan is unset... Nat: parameter brncl_if_wan is unset... Wifi: parameter brncl_if_lan is unset. Any suggestions? Or maybe a bug fix?

Perm access only to WiFi network lots of setting no ads. Android hotspot did not work on my Nokia x aosp but this app did work very well and allowed to see connected device and data rates.

Barnacle works flawlessly every time. I use a Custom ROM which can't create a reliable Wi-Fi hotspot 90% of the time. I have tried many apps but most of them are notoriously unreliable. I recommend this app for everyone especially those with problematic built-in Wi-Fi hotspots.

I have tried many tethering apps and this is simply the best. No other app is as easy to use and set up and out worked the first time on my rooted Samsung SCH,R720. Keep kicking butt. Thanks !

it doesn't even work. It keeps saying im not rooted when i am. the dev is an idiot if he doesn't realize this is a problem since it's happening to many people.

I LOVE THIS APP! I am able to use my phones internet on my laptop! It basically creates a wifi hotspot off your android cell phone! And I've used it on several devices with EASE. Just download then run....get on your wifi enabled device (I've even used my itouch to get internet)and my blueray player to listen to my favorite jams while I clean my house...THIS APP IS SICK AS F---!!

@Keith - I used this app a few days before GB update and it worked great. Phone updated to GB. I re-rooted several times and Barnacle doesnt see root

It worked, but somehow Verizon picked up right away that I was trying to tether and locked me on their page trying to offer me packages. SUCKS !... HELP ME SOMEONE! What did I do wrong, I'm rooted

This app is an unsupported orphan. If it doesn't work, which is very likely, don't waste time trying to get help. Uninstall it and try something else.

the App is FREE (only works on Rooted phones)! Donation gets you the Widget. (to root your Phone, download "POOT DEBUG" . Ministro 2, and Busy Box. They're FREE, and they WORK.)

This was by far my most used app for my droid x. Now that I have my droid 3, verizon has seem to have blocked any attempt to get a free hotspot. When app starts it throws this error: DHCP: could not bind to DHCP port Address already in use. After that, you will be routed to verizon's hotspot app, and all internet will be blocked unless phone is restarted.

Compared to many others, this is the best!!! No confusing configuring to do. Download, after opening app, click start button, it then turns on the wifi, then on desktop/laptop search for wifi, click on barnacle, and your connected. Can't get any easier than that!! All others want IPs, swift numbers, blah blah. This one is really worth it!! Works awesome on my zte warp. Super fast. Can't tell difference in web surfing between home network and phone's hot spot, I know that's hard to believe but I really can't

Very Awesome. Requires root access, which can be a downer, But once you have that it's incredibly easy to setup and use. Battery drain is minimal, especially with the phone off. You can easily browse for a number of hours without having to worry about your battery. Ping times are very low on the wifi network, and add less then 1ms between desktop and internet. b(^-^)

It works with my desktop and laptops. However, it doesn't work with my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, PSP and mintpad. The strange thing is, other Android phone (Motorola) belongs to my buddy able to find the signal and connected to it. Is there anybody can help me out if you experienced this issue before, so that I can shortcut the problem solving? I know it has to do with infastructure mode vs ad-hoc. Thanks in advance.

I rooted my samsung ultra boost mobile 50 a month. I was useing wifi tether but I couldn't get my sister evo to conect to my hotspot since she has a data limit I don't want to root her phone. Because she wouldn't know what to do. Baracle worked perfect connected the xbox ipod touch computer her cell phone and was still able to. Use my phone.

After a long search , i found this one. thanks very much its working fine no comparison with anyone this is unique and only one. before getting this app it was wastage of my 3g data and time. everytime my phone was showing limited connectivity.but now with Barnacle Wifi Tether its working and only working. i love you. may god bless you. thanks thanks

Uses my 4G Samsung to connect my MacBook to the net. Have 2 other apps that do the same. All are equal in speed. USB tethering seems a bit faster, if you don't mind loading the program on your computer and paying for the app. Still looking for a wireless tether app that can transfer enough speed for my Mac to play videos smoothly. Not sure if that exists.

I've installed this app twice now and both times i have had weird thing happening, first my phone randomly downloaded a APK, and this time it popped up a message asking to to link my phone which cost me money. i feel something funny is going on.

I tried wifi tether app first. it didnt work. SSID cudnt be detected on my laptop nor my nokia phone. Then i installed BARNACLE. it worked flawlessly on the very 1st attempt. my laptop and my nokia e71 can connect and use internet off my android! Full marks barnalce. Zero marks to that other wifi tether app!

This app is designed to turn your phone into a mobile data modem of sorts. Meaning, it will allow you to connect a device such as a laptop to it and use the mobile data connection as a means to surf the internet. This will not give you free internet access. Enough ranting, now the praise. This is a great app internet access when you need it and there are no wifi points available to connect.

Spent hours trying to get og Droid to work via ad-hoc to iconia tab with other Bluetooth tether methods mentioned on boards and could not get it to work. This worked on the first try! Million times thanks! Cheers!

I have spent all day testing every 'WiFi tethering' app that claims to get you free internet access. They've all been disappointing. Then I tried this. AT LAST! AN APP THAT ACTUALLY DOES WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO WHICH IS TO BYPASSES MY NETWORK TETHERING RESTRICTIONS. This is working on my Galaxy S 4. My network provider is H3G. The creators of this have obviously managed to fool the network by spoofing the routing address to give access to other devices through an android device. Reboots my phone a lot though.

After all the time spent on this & I followed it all to the 'T' & didn't wanna give up. But it just doesn't work. That's it that's all.

As long as you have root this is the best way to go. It's so easy, there's a go button and a stop button, the errors are written in plain english and usually even if there is an error, IT WORKS ANYWAYS! Who could ask for more?

Sorry guys but only having WEP security is lame. That is like paper over a doorway, not much protection. You need WPA2 for the best or at least WPA. Maybe if they add that this will be a good app, until then use at your own risk.

Great app. I was able to play black ops on xbox live with very little lag spikes. If I can only get my NAT settings.from moderate to open it, perfect!
