About Calibre Sync

This app seamlessly connects to your Calibre Library and shows up as a connected device on Calibre. If Auto-Connect option is enabled, your device will attempt to connect to the Calibre Library when it is within the home Wi-Fi network. This allows Calibre to automatically update your device with the latest newspaper or magazines you have scheduled for download!

Frequently Given Answers:
1. You need to have a reader application installed on the device (such as Aldiko or CoolReader) in order to view the files.

2. If the app seems to "sit there and do nothing", it is likely that your Calibre Library hasn't been configured to allow Wireless Device connections OR that you have a firewall preventing it from doing so.

3. Kindle for Android only opens PDF files called from outside their app. Still working on a hack which can make integration with that app easier.

4. For integration with Nook Simple Touch's Calibre plug-in, set the Root Folder to "My Files/"

5. Might not work with Calibre 3.0!

Version 1.1.3
* Ability to add IP addresses manually
* Ability to browse Device Library by Tag

Version 1.2.0:
* Search function for Calibre Library

After finally linking it to my divice I can't readd the book because it says "No compatible application installed to read this file!" Please help me as soon as you can with this. It's sad cause I won a digital book.. and now i can't read it!

Works perfectly. The best part for me is the app size. SD card support for Lollipop users would make it the best. Hoping for it in a future update.

Too confused to setup! Calibre Companion (CCDemo) is much better.

Exactly what I need! Now I can import books from my computer's calibre library over WiFi.

This app can aid in wirelessly syncing in your home over your local wifi. If that's all you want, great. I myself have a calibre server set up so I can access my books anywhere I have an Internet connection (so long as my home pc is on) and this app cannot log onto it. I use Calibre Companion in stead - fuller features, it can do local and wan.

I don't know what happened, but starting just yesterday it stopped working. It establishes a connection but when I send a book to the device it loses the connection completely. I reset my phone to default and reinstalled calibre on my computer, and it worked for about 10 books and now it's doing it again. I wish I knew what was wrong. I rely strongly on this app working.

Works fine on a Nexus 10. It took a little bit to get it connected to Calibre and pointing to the right directory for Moon Reader but it works great after the setup.

Finds my server fine, syncs great. However, search is not returning all results. Verified by searching within caliber as well as another similar app, this one not returning all the results it should, unfortunately.

Why not direct cable connection ?

Calibre Sync will not connect to Calibre at all, it just continually searches for servers on the wifi network.

A70%

Great way of accessing all my books. It integrated really well with Calibre and now I can easily get the books I want to read on my Android (using Moon+ 4 Reader), now I just need a way to sync my last reading position!

When combined with the PC program, I can update covers, convert books to the epub format my reader can use, and directly add the file to my books folder instead of going through copy and paste on multiple devices to make it work!

The app is pretty cool, I like that it adds the Calibre companion app functionality. I am able to push content to my tablet right from Calibre, and see what I've got on my device. However, I can't seem to see the Calibre library from the companion app for some reason that's not apparent to me so far.

I have 4 calibre servers running on 4 different port (3 distinct, 1default). App wasn't able to find any of them, no support website, no manual configuration options. Might be a great app for some, but I wouldn't get my hopes up... just need to try it with your set up and see if you have better luck.

Will hopefully be able to give this 5 stars one day. It wasn't able to properly start up a reader and I'd have liked to have been able to have more sorting options, e.g. by series order. Other than that, does what's needed.

X70%
by X####:

First things first, it does connect wirelessly to my desktop instance of Calibre and the device is recognized in exactly the same way as if it was plugged in my machine. That's pretty awesome. However, the app is ALWAYS in the list of running applications. And that is much less awesome because, well, why? It consumes my battery, slows down my phone and pisses me off. Besides that, great app!

I have an LG Optimus L9. I've a few e-readers installed Kindle, Alkido and FBReader, and a large e-book collection on my hard drive. I've used Calibre for a couple of years to manage my collection and I was excited to try this free software out to connect my Android phone. It took a little fiddling to start with. There are no step-by-step instructions, so it feels like you're walking blind at first. I'd also like to be able to set my root folder to the external sd card. Currently the root folder option only lets you choose what's on the internal storage. If there is that option, I haven't found it yet. I'd give it 5 stars for these two fixes. My step-by-step instructions. 1. Install Calibre Sync (CS). 2. Open Calibre. Connect/Share > Start Content Server (and Wireless). 3. Open CS > menu > rediscover servers. Icon lights up green "Connected Library!". 4. In CS press "calibre library" > choose filter options > choose book (downloads to "device library"). 5. choose "device library" > select downloaded book and preferred ebook reader. 6. enjoy your book! 7. (optional) move your book onto external HD and open within ebook reader. Thanks for a great FREE program!

Having a huge library, and being a finicky reader this app is perfect. It's one of those apps I rely on regularly (haven't drag/dropped books since I started using it) that works better then I'd expected (kind of like Calibre itself exceeded my expectations). Push works great (sending books from within Calibre) and I still get a little thrilled when I hear the notification that my book has loaded on my phone. Pull works great. Browse works great. Sometimes server discovery doesn't work perfectly so I'll end up entering the IP address manually. But once it's set up it "just works". I'm very thankful for this application.

Had some hiccups setting up, with the connection frequently resetting itself and then not being able to connect to the calibre server at all. Restarted the phone, and it seems to have solved the issues there. Overall inelegant, but seems to get the job done okay.

Great app, works seamlessly with my android devices, both push, pull, and merging. Awesome.

If this app's ideas are fully implemented it would be a useful app; but for now, no. Password setting is completely ignored when trying to retrieve opds.
