About Georgie Places

Georgie Places lets you label your favourite locations or your least favourite hazards on your regular journey and will display or speak them to you as you approach those same places subsequently. Any place can be labelled, from a park bench to the dog litter bin, from the entrance to a shopping centre to the overhead branch you regularly bump into.

The Google award-winning user interface has been designed and developed for the blind, visually-impaired, disabled or others who have trouble seeing, hearing or operating a smartphone.

It is a no brainer that, if you can't see, you easily get lost. This app was created for us so that we could always know where we are and what's near. so, a seeing person walks with us and we use the phone to mark way points which we ourselves need: Post box, where to cross the road or warning of danger. We speak these way point messages and every time we pass that way again, the phone reminds us automatically. Oh and there is also a talking compass and we get all the usual Google Maps information spoken to us as well. It is a huge comfort even if you have a guide dog.
