About Dynamic Media BT Mono Router
A simple background service which detects any playback on the global audiomix and then opens the BluetoothSco channel so the audio is played on your mono Bluetooth device (hands free profile).
Idea
Enable the dynamic playback of any media sound on the Bluetooth device. Especially for the direction guide of your navigation software. The Bluetooth channel should be opened when a playback is started and closed after the playback is finished.
Comparison to similar apps:
All other apps I've seen are not dynamic or (I suppose) use the isMusicActive() function which in fact isn't reliable. Therefore I use the Visualizer API to grab anonymized info from the global audiomix and can for sure determine if audio is played. The visualizer API function I use is only available since API Level 19 (Kitkat - Android 4.4). For API Levels below I use the isMusicActive() function as well.
State based redirection
The service is only startable if the bluetooth adapter is turned on, everything else wouldn't make sense would it? The redirection only starts if a bluetooth device is connected to the hands free bluetooth profile. If the hands free connection isn't available anymore the redirection stops.
Static redirection
If you choose this option the audio redirection will start as soon as you start the service and only stops with the service. No audio information is analyzed.
If you choose the reconnect after call option the service restarts itself after a voice call is terminated (the telephone app has priority over the sco channel). The service also restarts if you end the "call" for media redirection. This option is only available in combination with static redirection.
Intent to start/stop the service
It's really really simple! Send of the following intents
•net.philipp_koch.dynamicmediabtrouter.ON
•net.philipp_koch.dynamicmediabtrouter.OFF
Requirements:
•An Android device with the minimum API Level 11 (Honeycomb - Android 3.0)
- API Level 18 (Jelly Bean - Android 4.3) for a raw bluetooth stream. Lower version may require you to accept the "call"
- API Level 19 (Kitkit - Android 4.4) for audio recognition via the visualizer API.
•A bluetooth device which supports the hands free profile (usually headsets or car speakerphones)
•No task managers! They're crap and nothing else! They kill the background service so don't complain!
Working as designed (dynamic mode)
If you end the "call" the redirection doesn't stop and audio is routed to nowhere. Because the app was intended for navigation apps this is a useful design:
If redirection starts and you are already aware of the information presented you could end the "call" as soon it starts. After the information is played the service will close the channel as usual and open it again as soon as audio is detected.
If you use the app to redirect music for an ongoing time and you end the "call" accidentally you have to pause the music for at least a few seconds. The service will stop the redirection and start it again as you press play.
You experience a bad audio quality
I can't fix that. The hands free profile isn't intended for high quality. You have to use A2DP instead!

The app works great. But is there anyway you can add a delay to playing the sound? With Google Maps the first 2 -3 seconds (while the service connects) are lost and if the instructions are short nothing will be heard at all.

I have been looking for an app to enable music playing on EHB-200M when connected to my Asus phone (I can only use it for phone calls then) but none of them did until I found this. This one works! The only thing though is that I have to re-open my music player after a phone call to reconnect to the bluetooth speaker because the audio drops to the standard phone speaker. Hope this can be fixed. :)

No apparent way to just open app and start routing immediately, then when done stop routing and close app and have it not stay in background taking memory when you're not using it. Looks good if you want everything to automatically route when you plug in Bluetooth etc. and don't mind yet another background app.

The only reason I don't LOVE it, is it's MONO, and since this app is suppose to provide MONO I guess I should have rated it a 5, but the rating is more to warn you that if you use it as I did to get around the fact that you don't have A2DP BT, the music is well MONO and not Stereo and it will, if you are old enough remind you of music in the early 60's. Still this at least gives me access to the music players on my smart phone (Droid) and the standard BT interface in my car.

Seemed to have promise but won't route sound, even GPS and when phone call comes in it routes to actual phone and won't sent it through Bluetooth. No custom ROM

This app does exactly what it is supposed to. The feature set is great, I liked the resume when call completed option and the autostart/stop options. The sound quality is pretty low, but that is a limitation of Bluetooth and not the application. This is no replacement for A2DP, but it gets the job done.

I am using it,& it does what it says. It's an awsm app to route the audio to any mono Bluetooth headset. And the best thing is it's running on my Lollipop OS, and running smoothly too. Thank u developer for such an awsm app

Just what I need to be able to hear Google Maps navigation cues in my single earpiece headset whilst out on my pushbike. I want to keep one ear free to monitor traffic around me so a stereo headset (supporting A2DP) was not an option. Nor was a wired mono earpiece, because of the clutter. Thank you!

I wasn't happy with the purchase of my new motorola bluetooth because it was only working with voice calls and i needed bluetooth that also plays music. I downloaded few bluetooth mono router apps and nothing worked finally i downloaded this app and bingo it plays music and also maps directions its annoying listening through your cell phone speaker. This works great the only reason i didnt leave 5 stars because of the sound clarity is not so great I'm not sure because of my bluetooth device or this app.
