About Network Type Indicator

Network Type Indicator lets you put an icon in the status bar that will display the type of cellular connection your phone has at any given time, and whether mobile data is connected or not.

This app is most useful for devices that don't include this information in the status bar, or that hide it when roaming.

Notes:
- Due to the way Android works, a non-removable notification must be present along the status bar icon.
- Likewise the icon can not be placed in the right hand side of the status bar.
- In Lollipop and up, the notification will show in the lockscreen. I'm not aware of any way to avoid that.
- This app is expected to work in multi-SIM devices, but (for the time being) only for the primary card.
- Some devices (e.g. Xiaomi/MIUI devices) will display the app's icon instead of the connection type in the status bar. In those devices you'll only be able to see the network type information in the app's notification.

Permissions explained:
- (Lollipop and lower only) Phone / Device ID & call information: read phone status and identity - This is required to read the network type. This app doesn't use a phone's "identity" for any purpose, but these permissions always go together.
- Other: run at startup - This is required for the notification to load at boot (if you so choose)

Best solution but.. After testing for some time it block functionality of phone power safe mode. Simply in power safe mode the app was still active and drained battery after two days without touching the phone. After disabling auto start phone works ok. So I will not use.

Please add notification priority though, I would like it to always be listed on top / in the persistent notification area. I'd also love the option of choosing a different icon style e.g. without squircles around the connectivity status.

Shows icon in status bar which is great, however give an option in setting to show or hide in notification drop down menu. It takes up unnecessary space.

I've had this app for some time now, but it will not auto start on boot on my current phone (Galaxy S5, Marshmallow 6.01)

This app is really a time saver for Android phones which never shows the network type when in roaming. It would be really good if the data on or off circle is directly seen near the network type instead of notification.

Appreciate this handy app! Please consider a simpler icon, without the square, so it blends with Google's material design. Thanks!

I have an SHV-E330L and am having a big problem since my phone only displays 3G instead of H and H+. I really find this app helpful. But can you please put an option to turn off the notification if mobile data is turned off? I would gladly give this app 5☆ if you do. Thank you!

I'm on Oneplus One. The network-type symbol is replaced by 'R' while roaming. Android should have natively displayed both roaming, as well as network-type symbols. But on some devices it doesn't. This app steps in and provides that missing information.

There is Problem...The App Only Show Network From SIM 1 Only.. It Doesnot Have Option To Switch from Sim 1 To Sim 2... I Have Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation Dual Sim (XT1068)

Great app, have always used it. Just upgraded to marshmallow and now it won't even start. What's up with that? From Android 5 I had problems, plus doesn't support dual Sim phones. This is the new direction, twin Sim phones. Please work it out.

Simple, unobtrusive, and very useful. I travel through a lot of rural areas for my job. This lets me know when I have access and what kind of access. Beautiful app. Thank you!

Would like an option to only display status bar icon when roaming. Its really only when roaming I need this information as the stock network type indication is replaced with an 'R' on my Nexus 6P (when roaming).

Wow. It works in my unrooted Samsumg Note 4 SM-910G. Keeep it up. Please launch 2G 3G and 4G network switching app also.

notification doesn't get refreshed automatically when network type is changed. app has to be opened & then removed from recent apps to get the notification to refresh & show updated network type. using marshmallow.
