Maps & GPS Navigation — OsmAnd for Android
Good offline maps, but confusing interface.. Otherwise excellent for trip use.
Location and display Problems after August 2017 update
It just doesn't work. Maps don't load at all
This is a fantastic open-source replacement for Google Maps. Help test their beta from F-Droid to get an unlimited amount of maps for free.
was good, but too difficult to use, eg set a waypoint make you crazy!
All gps functionality of my phone stopped working as of 2017 aug 11
The best off lion map for Iran I have ever seen.
Does not work in Las Vegas.
Liked the openstreet maps concept.Good for walking. Is there a future plan to add public transport feature?!
Just wish I could lookup by postcode but it seems this is the Royal mail's fault.
Purchased the unlimited version, installed, and when i got a new device and reinstalled, the plus version is not shown as purchased.
Really wonderful mapping app, from offline maps to GPX recording. On road and off.
please bring it on windows 10 as an Universal app
Wish this app had Street view
Very useful. Somewhat tricky controls and POI distance and direction marks in search results list. Overall result is pretty good. Allows offline navigation with voice guidance without any fee.
This app has been a lifesaver twice now when traveling overseas with no mobile service. The interface has a bit of a learning curve but is also very detailed with lots of features. Last time when driving through the countryside of France and Belgium I compared OsmAnd to offline Google maps and I'd say OSM was the clear winner. I think I've purchased maybe 5 apps in my life and this is one of them, if that says anything.
Nice offline maps. My phone struggles with the amount of data, but it's worth the minute of waiting
Since some newer version the map rendering is painful slow, nearly unusable
When a map app does not include the most obvious free OSM layer so that people force themselves to subscribe for the updated map... A OSM contributor.
5* 4beeing3! ;) Best free offline OSM wrapper around!
Great app
Unintuitive!
the best!wish it has a 3d..
I've struggled with the app for a while now. The main issue is once I start navigating the detail disappears when I zoom in so I can't see street names. I'm trying out some others for now and may return to this later. Edit: the detail disappears once I am using the offline vectors map. The detail disappears when the zoom goes from 0.25 miles to 200m.
This app has a very weak Map Downloading Engine. It feels like a Map App rather than a Navigation one. I have to admit that Open Street Maps has a lot of details which is a big PLUS but the App needs a lot of work to be user friendly and Competing App.
I used this app as my main navigation while cycling two weeks through Europe. Overall, it was a great experience. I do think there are a few things that need improvement. The first being the behavior of the app with lock screen enabled. It just flips out on my G4. I had to disable lockscreen to get the app turn on the screen when guiding the way (nice feature btw). And the search function may improve from my standpoint. It just doesn't find much. It's very picky on how you enter the search phrase. But other than that I didn't really encounter other difficulties. 4, 5 stars for sure. (so 5) Small feature request: instead of voice guiding, would it be possible to let the app beep once when the screen it turned on (because of a turn coming up) ? I had the voice guidance on so I knew when I had to watch my phone. Keep up the good work!
Purchased the contour lines and hillshade feature. Didn't work so ended up being a waste of money. Disappointed. Update! Uninstalled and then re installed app which has corrected the problem. Now have full contours and hillshade.
Using it cycling in Bavaria and Austria. It has sent me down some completely unsuitable footpaths, including one where it would have had me cycle for 6km along the side of a river toward Innsbruck when a signed paved cycle path is the other side of the freeway. It nearly killed me with the choice going up to Schoenberg. It must be used in conjunction with a handle bar mount because it will sometimes fail to signal a change of direction. I think this happens when going from an unnamed road to another unnamed road.
The maps are good but the navigation algorithm finds a path which isn't the shortest or the safest to be found. It also directed me once to a closed area i could not go through. Strange thing was it was early noted on the map as closed area. There is some work to do in that area.
Searched 5 different addresses, couldn't find any of them through this app. If you are not looking for a POI search is useless in the USA. So I also tried a navigation to just the street I wanted from my current location, and it gave me a travel time that was hours longer than it actually is. I feel like I can't even get basic search functionality out of this, and if I even go to the right street, I will end up there hours ahead of time. It is really nice for navigation in the moment, where if you know where you are going but want to see what's around you, and there is less clutter in the function than the leading map software.
Love the map display and ability to record the tracks and share them as GPX files. This works great. The map display is very clear and clean. Combined with the walking mode this is super easy and convenient to use. Support responded very fast when I initially had an issue with the track recording. That was a simple fix.
Superb feature packed app. Allowed me to download off-road gpx tracks prior to long trip to Portugal. Then I could follow the tracks on a detailed Topo map for 1250kms. There are plenty of options so you need to play with settings. A keeper.
I am as impressed by the sheer number of features (elevation profile! useful info when climbing mountains with a loaded camper van) as I am surprised by the lack of safeguards for critical features. Don't lose the route! Cache it. Back button to go back to it. Since recalculating is intensive, make sure to do it as little as possible.
Works very well on BlackBerry Passport. Couple crashes, but other than that excellent. Good job guys. PS: That goes for 1.9.5 version.
Struggling to get this app to work. May take quite a bit of preparation. Not easy for spontaneous trips.
This is a good app in general, but there are a couple of frustrating behaviours. For example, double tapping to zoom moves that spot to the bottom of the screen. Why not leave it where it was? Also when I put in a search term and it indicates its position on the map, the indicator disappears as soon as I pan. I have to instead drop a marker on the spot I want.
I'm not entirely certain if I'm missing something or just thick but... Why can't I search for individual addresses? I can't narrow down post codes. Just the city, then streets. This is a nice program and full of potential I'd just like to be able to use it, really. Using map of Virginia. USA.
Overall it's a great app, it would definitely deserve a 5 star if it supports public transit. The routes are there on the map, but I cannot use them at all when planning my trip, basically makes this app unusable for me. Bought the full version, hopefully public transit will get supported eventually.
I like it for the offline maps, but jeeze is the GUI confusing.

Very nice and elegance but the things are so simple: Start track, Stop trak, save trak. My hair become white until guess how to record, just before minutes lost four hours of tracking.
