Override DNS (a DNS changer) for Android
Thank you so much! This app has helped me so much. I can't thank you enough. Please continue support for x86 devices like mine in future. :) edit: the developer is super nice. thanks man
Super responsive Dev. Easy and quick app to use supports DNSCrypt through open DNS. Keep up the good work!
LineageOS 14.1 on LG d802
No effect on Samsung S6 edge :(
Non to be compared with it
This app isn't fancy schmancy, but boy is it powerful. If I could request only one thing, it would be the ability to use alphanumeric passwords as well as a PIN when opening the app. Thank you!
Even if the app after restart claims to have DNS changed system is using router's configuration. One has to force apply in order to have it really changed.
Pixel Sailfish, Android 7.1.1, doesn't work. It works temporarily, but changes back to originals. I'll try to figure out what causes this. And I'll raise my review once you reply to this.
It does what it says. Quick and simple. No frills, it just works! Tried many different apps with different degrees of success, but this wins the 1st place! Thanks!
Dev ain't kidding - this app works! Other apps plain didn't work, or had you jump through hoops to make DNS changes *far* from automatic. Or try to start a VPN tunnel... This app truly is automatic and seamless. Controls are granular enough (choose the type of connections to change DNS on, whitelist certain SSIDs, etc). Tasker plugin would make it perfect.
App seems to do what it says it does for the most part and doesn't try to set up a questionable VPN connection or anything like that. I am quite satisfied with it and would definitely recommend. edit: I took out my concerns and upgraded to 5 stars (because the the problem was on my end and author is super responsive). Apparently the app that I was using to test with couldn't handle SSL based DNS and was reverting to my cellular provider's DNS instead (So maybe a word of caution that all apps might not work properly if you use the SSL based opendns entries). Firefox, however, seems to work fine. I still think that it would be useful to be able to edit the list of DNS providers as I will never use most of these, but have added a couple of custom ones. Thanks for the great tool!
This is an outstanding app and exactly what I was looking for since SetDNS became abandonware.
I like that is supporting CyanogenMod/LineageOS. Good work, the app is working.
Application does what it says. Developer responds really fast too. Thanks :)
Works as advertised, active and responsive developer. Worth every penny
thank you..
Good app.
Updated from previous comment where it freezes: Turns out my superSu was not installed after my recent flashing of firmware and the app will wait for root permission before loading further. After installing superSU, everything works fine now and I am now running on GoogleDNS. Totally recommend the app for anyone that lives in country with slow ISP DNS
All is very good, except one thing. The SSID whitelist doesn't seem to work, DNS is automatically updated for all WiFi SSIDs, regardless of whether SSID is checked or not. I run my own BIND DNS on my router and this breaks my intranet hostnames.
It actually works on Marshmallow. Combined with DNSCrypt and a responsive developer it doesn't get any better than this. Well worth every penny. Buy with no regrets.
Nice dns changer. Works great. 5 stars!
Very nice app, works great. The only problem i have: after restarting the phone, dns are not automatically overriden when working with cellular data only (no wifi). Closing chrome and reopen does trigger it, but... Any advice? Thanks. Update: I retested again and it seems that it just takes some time after restart until dns servers get applied.
this has been great for setting up adult filters on devices. Edit: just revisited this app again and noticed dev listened to my request, it can now be locked with device admin status to prevent being uninstalled. Thank you! Tested it running Android CM 7.1 nougat :)
It works everytime. But unfortunately, it keeps closing every now and then. My country is blocking reddit, so this dns changer is very useful and i use it like everyday. But sometime i need to re-open override dns when i browse Reddit because the app is closing or something so the dns stops working. Is it normal? Is there anyway to prevent the app closing mid-browsing??
Setting up a tablet for my five year old grandson. Wanted to use open DNS family DNS servers but other DNS server changers don't stick through a reboot. This one is easy to use but best of all its not going to change back to default DNS. Well worth the two bucks I paid for it.
I was having mystery speed problems with my UScellular LG G3 US990 running Android 5.0.1 on comcast wifi(I do not use cellular). I tried everything from launchers to browsers no luck. I THEN FOUND THE G3 USING 5.0.1's DNS DID NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH COMCASTS SERVER SYSTEM. I CHANGED MY DNS WITH THIS APP AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. BUY THIS APP IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. Simply set your desired dns and it stays even after restarting
Error msg us "shell is not running". Now apps, etc go to googles dns servers. Do i need to config something or...? Nevermind, i see since update, no root.
Dear sir, This software need work root, but not all user know how to root. Might give a helping hand? Warm regards
App does actually work. Unforseen carrier setup is the issue.
This has made changing DNS of 3g connection easy, when nothing else has worked. Thank you for this great app! Keep up the good work!
Im using wifi tethering from other phone. You just broke my phone and now i cant roll back the settings to default. Fix that asap. Update 1: still the same, my tethering phone doesn't let me use my social apps. Something is fked up.
Basically idiot-proof. Simple operation and settings that apply with no hassle.
Works great so far! Only complaint is it needs an option to override the DNS on boot
Does what it says on the tin. Easy to use and with several presets.
I'm on marshmallow and none of the other non-root dns changers have worked since kitkat for me. Changing dns manually is a pain when you only need to switch sometimes. This app is beautiful. It auto switches dns when you go back and forth between wifi and mobile. Best app for this purpose. PERIOD. Worth the money.
Would love to have it open sourced so it can be included with dnscrypt and other projects
Only DNS app that actually works!!! Have had so many issues with my verizon phone and usb tether not working for some websites on the other pc's on the network. Verizons DNS is horrible, googles has been working awesome for me!!
its amaizing ....
Thanks for the quick response. It works fine now.

Great just as long as your device is rooted. If you've tried the non-rooted DNS changer apps that use the VPN API and found that some apps don't work (eg. BBC iPlayer) or other rooted changers that don't seem to work at all, give this one a try.
