Wake On Lan for Android
*sigh* maybe one of these days someone will invent an app that'll let me remotely wake my computer ...
Great app now that I read that IP field should end in 255 and NOT IP of device to wake up. This simple requirement should be in product description so that fewer people waste time getting it to work. Thrilled to finally get this functionality!!
Would have been nice if the description of this product was more clear about that this program is designed to wake up computers that are wired to a network because that was what I was looking for. (as opposed to wireless networks) Otherwise it's a great program simple to use.
Dont know why it doesnt work, just noticed that the other app with same name have 'send as broadcast' and that app works.
Works great. I can now wake me PC from anywhere using dns name (free ddns via no-ip) . Love that the app does not require any permissions.
It works great on my lan, one thing that seems to catch everyone out is the ip address, leave it as the broadcast address (.255) otherwise it doesn't work
Simple and clean layout. As someone else said, i'd like to see a widget to be able to WOL from the home screen.
Need to setup your router, port forwarding, ip static, dns and firewalls
Works perfect. You need to know what you're doing before you use this. All the people who are negatively voting don't know what they're doing. You need to configure your router for this to work. Perfect app if you want to wake up computer when you're NOT at home. I use this app with Teamviewer and it works great. Again, make sure you know what you're doing before you go and mess up your router settings.
Simply does what it says. I use it successfully over both local home network and remotely over the internet. It uses a small footprint. NB A lot of these apps take criticism unfairly getting a wake up on Lan packet configuration on a PC involves a number of hoops and "a one size fits all solution" really cant be given needing a bit of experimentation on your own set up. You normally need to alter you home network router settings, then bios setting/s of the computer/s you wish to wake up, then the hardware power management of the computers network card from the operating system (you need a hard wired connection to your router WIFI connections don't work with wake up on lan packets) and then you need to play about with 3rd party dynamic dns services and software to cope with your ISP's TCP/IP address lease to your PC changing over time. Get any of these steps and neither this or any other similar app is going to behave as you expect. Persevere and you end up with a really handy ability that can be used with other software such as airstream to access your PC anywhere and power it up and shut it down remotely.
after i woke my comp up via wifi and closed wifi, i cannot wake it up via 3g. u should be caching network obj or address or anything else so that it tries to wake via wifi although it is closed...
Just need the proper address be it your public ip or local router address (forward the port as needed) and the Mac address of the target machine. If you set that machine up right it works perfect.
Works as advertised. Great how to video on YouTube if you're unsure how to setup.
Zero instruction. But i do have my bios set up ...changed the ip .. An still no luck.
Just simple and perfect... higher res icon would be appreciated for newer phones.. but no biggie!
Can't have two entries with same Mac, for internal and external waking... Would give 5 if had that
I use this to start my kitchen pc from bed by the time I get down to the kitchen the pc is ready and awaiting my password. Now if they only did a boil on lan for my kettle.
Don't work with my QNAP. With Fing my storage work correctly.
This app doesnt work to wake my computer.please some one if u know un app that works
Works exactly as advertised. No problems what so ever Thank you so much for this very simple application.
Works but I have a couple of suggestions. First the default broadcast address should be automatically detected from the currently connected wifi if one is connected. Second is the ability to queue a packet send the moment the same network is connected. This makes it more convenient when you are just coming home from work but you may also want to schedule this not to run prior to the time you leave so some scheduling options are needed. Lastly is there a signal to send a machine back to hybernation?
Works sweet and over internet with dns request.
Doesn't work and no idea what to put in the "Port" text field.
It just worked, for me. Keep it up, thank you.
Wake on Lan with Widget app worked fine
Glad it even works over Internet without any hassle!
Just entered the mac address of my NAS server and that was it. The app turned it on immediately.
How about a widget that starts up a particular PC with a single press?
I tried another app and this app doesnt seem to work. Not sure if an issue with android 4.3
Just need the proper address be it your public ip or local router address (forward the port as needed) and the Mac address of the target machine. If you set that machine up right it works perfect.
External IP, with port forwarding, enabled in bios and you are golden. Please do research before bashing an app.
The app works properly, now I can remotely turn my pc on and control it.
I notice the other two top apps for Wake on Lan doesn't support domain names. This is probably the only one that does and works great. Highly recommended!
OMG! got remote wake on lan via 3g, its brilliant! it takes time to mess around with ports and firewall but once set it works brilliant!, my request to the developer, can you PLEASE make a widget for this app!
Works correctly on LAN and over internet. You might have problems over internet to wake the PC, but that's not the app fault (read how internet works :) ). Works 100% if you have a router: just configure it to forward the port used in the app (port 9 to the PC IP). For the best results ensure that the router has DHCP lease set to forever and if it has ARP binding - bind the IP to the network MAC. The 6th star is for not asking useless permissions :)
WOL should not need an IPv4 address; not sure why this app asks for it. Nevertheless, with the correct MAC and IPv4, this does not wake any machines on my LAN. Two other utilities on two other machines with the same info, do wake the intended, same, targets. Not sure why this app won't do the one job it is for.
Works perfect. You need to know what you're doing before you use this. All the people who are negatively voting don't know what they're doing. You need to configure your router for this to work. This cool little app does exactly what it says and 5 Stars to the developer as well! Cool guy, who responds and is quite helpful and patient with those who are not too familiar with this stuff! And his (this) app auto-remembers, so you don't even have to set it up, nor do any typing the next time you wish to wake up the same device again! I really love it! It's great! The developer is great! Get it and support it! One little tap and your PC/Laptop, etc is awake! For those new to this, remember, leave the last digit in the IP at what it is, since it's the MAC Address of the device that responds to the wake up call, not the IP Address! You need the MAC Address! In Windows, run "CMD" and then I believe it's "IPConfig /All" to get it. Double check me on that though. :)
Great, functional Wake on LAN app. Only change I would like to see is support for saving particular hosts as Widgets so I can wake them from my home screen.
