Kanji Draw for Android
My suggestions are: please add the ability to show meaning AND reading on the canvas, it makes no sense to have to have only one or the other. Also it's easy to accidentally touch the edge of the screen and fail a drawing. You should add an option to ignore touches that are obviously nowhere near the character outline. Also the outline for 慣 is wrong and you get " mistake" for drawing it correctly. Stoke order for 穫 is wrong. There is a wrong reading for 岸, should be きし not たけ
There are no updates from January, and there are too many things to fix up. Most of kanji have no information about them. No reads, no meaning, no examples... I bought the full version to support you because I think you were doing well, but now the app is just an incomplete app. Please add the missing information about kanji. Thanks.
The app is really helping my retention of stroke order. But my 先生 has looked at the app and seen some incorrectness in words with certain kanji, sentence use and kanji stroke lengths and such. Not many but its not good to have any. And when i make a mistake at times it will just skip the corection animation and then go to the next kanji and skip that too. It would be cool to have a testing mode where it gave the Japanese or English meaning and had us write the Kanji from memory instead of with an outline.
While the application provides a good way to practice Kanji writing, there is no learning effect, that other applications provide. For example Akebi an JA Sensei. The limiting factor here is the recognition algorithm. Has quite some little bugs, for example the input freezes from time to time. Kanji information is incomplete. 1 star because it's impossible to move the study data to a new device.
Does what it says with minimal impact on battery life. The features and functions all promote true retention and proper kanji reproduction.
I'm glad they didn't overload it with features I don't need. For a basic strike order app I find it very effective.
Great app makes it very easy and pleasant to learn kanji with correct stroke order in odd moments of time.
This has been great so far for helping me learn kanji and the proper stroke order.
Good way to learn how to properly write kanji
Nice for practising kanji stroke orders
Can we have a search feature that can be done in English and Japanese?
Beautiful app
Really I do.
But the meanings for the kanji is sometimes unclear, having to unlock new kanji is a pain.
Thankfully it was developed with novice apprenticeships in mind.
I'm trying to skip jp 2 to go onto jp 3, and this apps really helps me study! There's a function where you can create your own study set and its really helped me.
Helps to remember kanji and to learn stroke order
Good way to learn kanji
I am learning with this. I actually wish it didn't award me so easily so I could get more practice before learning another word or set.
Thanks for adding the search feature!! However, it would be also very helpful if the searches could be made in English
This has been great so far for helping me learn kanji and the proper stroke order.
Good way to learn how to properly write kanji
Bien!
Absolutely fabulous!!! Love this app to bits. A million thanks to the creators. It's a very helpful app. Highly recommended.
I was loving the app until I tried to make my own study sets based on the kanji ised in Genki. Its nearly impossible to choose the kanji you want to learn (and are thus less familiar with) by looking through 2000 kanjis. A system to search kanjis by meaning or simply paste kanjis to add them to a study set would be much appreciated.
Love this app but please create an iOS version of this. We really want this on iPad.
I guess a review feauture of some kind would have been handy. For example, after reaching bronze some of the later elements of a kanji are removed until you reach gold and from this point you have to write the whole kanji out. Besides that the app is pretty good :D
Good for learning the stroke orders for kanji
I would like to give this app 5 stars, but the meaning sometimes not appropriate for a kanji when it stands alone; and the reading on/kun just too confuse. It would be nice if you add speak option.
incredible, needs your effort! it helps so much.
Please give us another way to select the kanji for custom study list. It's almost impossible to find the kanjis you are looking for among 2600 kanjis. Please let us use a txt with the kanjis separated by commas or something like that. And thank you for this great app :)
I've been using it For a couple of weeks. works
It's a really fun way to study kanji! It's really helping me remember the stroke order. Thank you!
Good App. Easy to use and adjust to your own level.
makes you learn per stages, need more option for expert learner.
Keep up
This is really a fun way to learn Kanji and stroke order for beginners like myelf.
I find this app quite good in most respects. It is simple, and gets the job I want done, mostly. However, when constructing user defined "study sets" adding/removing kanji is a extremely frustrating process. They must be selected from, or deselected from, a list that with an ordering that is highly confusing and results in hunts for individual kanji that can take many minutes. Additionally, you cannot select multiple sets at a time, and the testing environment could use some improvements.
Itd be nice if every single character had on/kun reading data though. I can help copy over data from JED if you respond to this comment, app-creator guy!

Simple, but effective. With a stylus, this app becomes a dream to use. The interface is virtually ad-free (in offline mode there are no ads), the background is dark (so no worries of eye strain), and it's really addictive. Good for teaching new kanji and correcting the stroke order on ones you were already familiar with. WHAT'S MORE, it has sample sentences to help boost your understanding of each new word.
