Rsync Wrapper for Android
Maybe a cron definition string for the sceduler, and wifi only/charger only checkboxes for every individual task would be great. Simple and easy ui, for documentation I can recommend the relevant man pages for everyone :)
Almost works, but unable to save SSH host key to allow connection to remote server. Has NO documentation (should at least include rsync man page for reference). Developer website is all Chinese & seems to have no reference to this app. To be great, would also need to support running as root (on rooted devices). Reply: Adding root, unfortunatley, does not resolve the roadblock to getting the app to work, adding basic documentation, etc. Even the 'About' within the app is nonfunctional.
no FAQ explaining it or giving an example how to configure it.
You'll need to use a pc or another program make your dropbear ssh keygen file but aside from that it's great.
This is the only Android rsync build that I've been able to find that (a) works, and (b) gives me full control over the rsync command line. The only problem I've found is that it doesn't support writing to external storage. This is a deal-breaker for me, since the files I want to sync are on a removable SD card. Please add external storage support!
Not friendly at all..
Alas, can't sync from SDCard or OTG / external storage, on Lollipop (5.1.1). The app doesn't even ask for the required permissions.
On my HTC 10 the external SD card directory is /storage/AF52-AD21, when I try to use a folder on the SD card as a destination I keep getting permission errors on the destination. I double checked the app permissions and it has the permission that it needs. Reply 2: Other apps such as Solid Explorer seem to have figured out how to write to arbitrary directories on the external storage. It does ask for additional permissions. Bumping rating for adding the directory chooser and responsiveness of developer.
It said it was running in the background but nothing happened.
Good app, thanks for providing! Works well and is clear in it's functionality. Easy to use and intuitive. The rsync binary can be taken from this apk and used standalone with a terminal app. I placed the binary in my Total Commander install directory and can easily use with a shortcut icon, ie. 'Send shell command'. It's strange that it's so difficult to find rsync static binaries on the web that will work on Android (there were two available which worked below 5.0, but after the -fPIE requirement there's none to find..)
Much improved with tutorials! Very slick and elegant implementation if rsync. Also uses rsa keys which is great! It can still be a bit of a challenge to use this app if you've never used rsync. It could use an improved scheduler; it is unclear when it will actually run with the current scheduler. It would be great to be able to set a time. Also the ability to copy jobs would be nice. I have a ton of options and it's a huge pain to copy and paste them in.
Since the venerable Rsync Backup is no longer maintained and uses obsolete SSH encryption, I believe this is the best replacement available. It's interface is less elegant but it gets the job done. The scheduling feature is not reliable on my phone (pixel/nougat).
Gets the job done I'm an old pro with rsync so it was easy for me to setup a profile to backup my phone to a local rsync server. The app covers my needs just fine, but I think it could use an interface update to make it friendlier to use. A material list of the tasks would be nice. It would give the task a bigger tap area and could allow for swipe actions to delete or quickly run a task, etc. A new task wizard could be a helpful addition for people who aren't as experienced with rsync, checkboxes for common options like recursion, compression, delete, quiet/verbose, browse for and select one or more source directories, special fields for file or directory exclusions, maybe some inline help for the individual fields. I wouldn't mind an option to run a task when the app opens, so I could hook it into Droid Automation. All that aside, thanks for your work on this!
The app works perfect. I have only some suggestions to improve the interface. Make the option field multiple lines so that you can read the whole line at once. Long press a task to get a submenu with: Run, Dry run, Edit, Duplicate and Delete. And short press a task to Run it immediately. Display all tasks in alphabetic order.
Almost as good as rsync backup, but would benefit from default rsync options, profile copying, Tasker integration. Didn't take me long to create a profile using existing rsync backup profile as a guide.
It doesn't work. I did attempt to synchronise my internal sdcard (movies and serial photos taken) with external sd card (single photos taken). In app opinion source folder is empty. Epic failure.
No-nonsense and perfectly working (for everything I tried) implementation of rsync.
The "option" field could be bigger, of course. Love the scheduler function!
From screenshots it is clear that SSH protocol should be supported. But where do I store password or key? Can we get some examples? Thanks.
Either no SSH support or bug, it always tries to create /user@host instead of connecting. Nice and straightforward UI though.
