【マンガ検定】スポーツ漫画『弱虫ペダル』に強くなるクイズ

『弱虫ペダル』は、渡辺航によるマンガ作品。
通称「弱ぺダ」で、人気が高い。
２００８年より、秋田書店の『週刊少年チャンピオン』の
第１２号から連載中。
同社の少年チャンピオン・コミックスレーベルによる単行本が
２０１７年２月現在４９巻まで刊行されており、２０１６年１２月時点
での累計発行部数は１６００万部を超えている。

この作品は、自転車競技を題材にした本格的なスポーツ漫画である。
このタイトル『弱虫ペダル』の由来について、作者はこう語っている。
「私が自転車に乗る時、軽いギアで回転数を上げてクルクル回す乗り方
を自分が勝手に“弱虫ペダル”と名付けていて、それをタイトルにしようと
思いついたのです。」

２０１５年、第３９回講談社漫画賞・少年部門を受賞した。
因みに、週刊少年チャンピオン連載の作品が同賞を受賞するのは、
第１回(１９７７年）に受賞した『ブラック・ジャック』以来３９年ぶりとなる。

原作マンガはもとより、アニメ、舞台でも大人気の『弱虫ペダル』。
自転車競技部というとどちらかと言えばマイナーなスポーツですね。
実際の高校自転車競技部は、公益財団法人全国高校体育連盟の自転車
競技専門部に加盟している高校数は男女合わせて現在２２０校ほど。
甲子園予選に参加する野球部数約４０００校と比べるとその希少さが
わかります。
彼らが目指すのは、まずはインターハイ。そして、日本国内最高峰と呼ばれる
ジャパンカップや世界的に有名なツールド・フランスなのです。
