About Major System memory Practice

This is an app to practice using the Major System to memorise long numbers. This system is used by many experts and a Google search will bring up many examples of its use.
The Major System is well described in the excellent book "Moonwalking with Einstein" by Joshua Foer.
Large numbers are made into words using a code and then the words can be remembered using a striking image or story, for example Meteor Tail Pink gives the first digits of pi.
Using this app you can type your own words, paste words or let the system choose random words for you to try to work out the number code, when you think you have the answer the system will tell you the correct number code.
This app will not turn numbers into words as that stage of the process has to be done carefully so as to create memorable striking images.
This is a good way to remember long phone numbers or credit card numbers.
This app is a simplified version of the Major System using the codes below.
0 is z or c or s
1 is t or d
2 is n
3 is m
4 is r
5 is l
6 is ch or sh
7 is k or g or q
8 is f or v
9 is p or b
... all other letters can be used to make memorable words but are ignored. Duplicate letters together in a word are only counted once.
This app is stand alone and does not need any web access.
This is the first version of the app and will be updated to include a scoring system and a better screen layout.

by T####:

I think Troy has it wrong, at least according to my learning and Wikipedia. Hard C is the same as K phonetically, so it should be 7, but your app is wrong because it counts it for 0! Soft C, as in mice, is 0.

R70%
by R####:

Bunch of errors, the system should be phonetic

D70%
by D####:

Just getting started and am noticing lots of errors (3 digits = a word with only 2 consonant sounds). Feel like answers are being generated by a poorly programmed system rather than by someone who speaks and reads English.

Z70%
by Z####:

This app uses letters and not their sounds. Action is 762 and not 712.

Z70%
by Z####:

It gives best training for converting numbers into names n vice versa.

W70%
by W####:

The app needs to understand the phonetics of the English words in its dictionary. It could be a great tool for practising the major system but in its current form it is worse than useless.

Z70%
by Z####:

Duck translates to 107, when it is only 2 consonant sounds (17). The app shows promise. Not the only error found, but nice approach.

I70%
by I####:

Good work so far but needs more work to be really good. Hard "c" (as in continent) is counted as 0, not 7, for example.

K70%
by K####:

Duck translates to 107, when it is only 2 consonant sounds (17). The app shows promise. Not the only error found, but nice approach.
